Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled?

Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled? I don’t even really pay attention to celebrity news but I see occasional things that he’s divorced, alcoholic, was abusive to his wife and children, children don’t want his last name, etc. Especially because his ex (Angelina Jolie) seems to be idolised for her beauty and humanitarian work. It’s not like people don’t like her!

Is Brad Pitt just too handsome? What’s the deal?

When men has Hollywood cancelled, especially before they went to jail?

CrazyMidget · Yesterday 02:39

Men do not go from a decent man to abusing their wife and kids overnight. Angelina Jolie has said the abuse began well before the plane abuse, and anyone with half a functioning brain cell would realise that.

I'm not sure I believe AJ's plane report. I didn't know she said he was abusive before. Why did she stay with him then? Retrospective allegations don't mean much. And he didn't necessarily go to "abusing" them. You talk as if it was an ongoing thing. The chaos of that kid circus without co-parent support pushed him to breaking point and he lost it. People DO lose their temper sometimes, you know, when they have had enough!

Look, I wasn't there. Maybe I've got it all wrong. But AJ is so dodgy that I find it hard to give credence to what she says.

And as I've said a few times, if he's an abuser, how come none of his large family, his many previous wives, girlfriends, and fiancees, his Hollywood colleagues and film industry folk have ever said a single thing to indicate as such during his four decades in movies? Nothing has ever leaked out, like when hotel staff leak that a star trashed their room or something. Meanwhile, AJ has form for being a complete weirdo, stealing other people's husbands and fiances, and being a heroin addict, among other weirdnesses. Obviously we can't know for sure, but she seems very dark and quite disturbed.

His current girlfriend is 33! What a creepy old cliche he is.

I think all or almost all of his kids have no relationship with him and have all legally changed their names so they no longer have his name as a surname. All are at least 18 as far as I understand it.

For some reason I prefer to concern myself with my life rather than some actor’s.

I haven’t seen him at a single dinner party since that awful W Magazine photo spread in 2005.

Have you?

Shakespeareandi · Yesterday 03:00

I am.not a fan of Brad Pitt. I can't imagine that had he been a good father none of the children want anything to do with him. Read that report-he is abusive, violent and towards mother of his children AND the children. Nope, no excuses.
Also a cheater of course, so low moral compass anyway.
I'm so glad AJ got away from him before it was too late. Like any person living with domestic abuse.
Johnny Depp, Amber Heard seemed a little mad but he had obviously been abusive to her too. They should have just quietly gone separate ways. So many men are really vile.

What kind of awful people name their child: Shiloh Pitt

Of course she changed her name!!!

I dont doubt the incident on the plane happened. He never tried to deny it. What I always find strange is why George Clooney (who I think is great) stuck with him.

Maybe he's not as great as we think?

No matter how bad some celebs are, there are always other celebs who flock to their rescue and testify of their good character.

2Rebecca · Yesterday 03:14

I don’t follow celeb news especially overseas celebs and find “ cancelling” overly simplistic and a bit silly. Most actors are narcissistic and not people I would want to be in a relationship with. No idea how much of the stuff listed is true why is being divorced so awful. My son doesn’t have my last name. That doesn’t mean I am awful.

Yes, that's what happens when one parent refuses to let children see the other parent despite a 50/50 order, and fills their little heads with nonsense about the other parent from when they are small and easily brainwashed. Textbook parental manipulation. Brad sought help for his alcohol and weed problems, and AJ only complained about him losing his rag that one time. He's worked hard to turn his life around. Why did she never let him see them again? Ben Affleck is a grumpy old drunk with an unstable personal life, and Jennifer Garner facilitates their kids' relationship with them.

But did your son have your last name then legally apply to change it? Different situation to yours I suspect although I wasn't there of course. The kids are all adults now though.

I don't think Clooney is so great. No one was good enough to marry or have kids with until he got old, panicked, and chose a woman twenty years younger with whom to run his genes through the scanner at the last minute. I always thought he seemed like a cold fish.

That's so interesting you say, about her "stealing other people's husbands " but you don't seem to criticise the men for cheating? Takes two to tango!
Shows the bias against women.
Not to mention get"dark" era finished a long time ago. But obviously while you "can't know for sure" you find her very dark and weird.

The kids lived with both parents and presumably have a lifetime of their own experiences to consider. Ben Affleck is completely irrelevant! The family can make their own choices.

Well of course I blame the men for cheating. More than her. But the subject of the conversation is how reliable AJ is as a witness. My point is that she has not showed integrity or good character in her dealings with her peers, quite the opposite, so how can we believe what she says? Especially when the FBI found no evidence to charge him with.

She has, of course, positioned herself as a "humanitarian" who cares about the poor, which is the kind of smokescreen that psychopaths often use. Many a "pillar of the community" has been found doing bad things. That's her on a big scale.

I'm not sure if you mean Pitt's kids or Affleck's. If you mean Pitt's, no, he basically never saw the kids again. They certainly did not live with him. He had to go to court over and over and over to enforce the 50/50 access, and at one point, she broke the rules so much that she was threatened with imprisonment by the judge. He might have had a small bit of access on the odd occasion, but she basically would not comply and kept him in court. As one observer said, it appeared her plan was to run the clock down until they were 18. And I'm sure she told them all sorts of lies about how he didn't want to see them, all while he was fighting tooth and nail to get access to them. She simply would not comply with the court orders, and judges are reluctant to imprison mothers for that, due to the effect on the children.

But the kids had lived with both parents up to their divorce though. They were between 8 and 15 when the divorce took place so the older ones at least very much old enough to know their own minds and remember their formative experiences.

But again, you insist in your previous comment BP "worked hard to turn his life around" but you seem to refuse to think maybe so has AJ? Like, you see her still as she was in her 20s, and imply that all the humanitarian work is just a front, but somehow believe that BP miraculously turned his life around and it's surely true, because he said so? And AJ has no integrity because she stole husbands etc, but Brad .... has integrity although he cheated and?
Yeah, I see no issue with that reasoning.
I mean, who knows, maybe AJ is weird after, maybe so is Brad, maybe they ate as bad as each other. From little do I know about celeb life behind the scenes, the most shocking things never make it to public eye. But you are very biased in your opinions, criticising one person for something while totally absolving the other despite them having done the same thing.

Two sides

I am not sure about that at all.

All of his children have removed his name.

He could only have supervised visits with them.

He was physically abusive to the children on a plane for a number of hours.

It is hard to "two sides" that.

I don't agree that AJ has turned her life around. Her sustained campaign of parental alienation because Brad once badly lost it in the chaos of six unruly children does not indicate someone who has turned into a better person. We know that BP has dealt with his alcohol and weed problems. He's been interviewed extensively about it. He could be telling massive lies continually about this, of course, but I'd imagine someone in his world would have leaked about his continued alcohol and drug use, if so.

I think she's a psychopath, and they never change their spots. She didn't care about Laura Dern's or Jennifer Aniston's feelings, and she apparently has zero concern over how it might feel to be cut off from your six children. She just wanted to keep them all to herself, and sod how he feels. Of course, I could be wrong, but it seems to me that AJ has zero empathy for anyone who has something she wants. Previously it was two men, and then it was time with the children.

Because he’s a successful white male. The bar is only set high for women and minorities.

I think it is more than that though.

Like him or dislike him, he is one of the very few film stars - not actors, but a film star.

They usually make a massive amount of money for a lot of people.

There is vested interest in protecting the money - in this case Pitt. If he were a lesser type of actor/white male he would have been cancelled.

Like TImothy Busfield for example. He will never work again.

mikot · Yesterday 04:37

I think that AJ doesn’t play the game and is seen by many as a cold woman, who doesn’t do girly podcasts or photoshoots. She doesn’t seem to care about being the affair partner and collected a group of children from other countries, trotting all over with them, leading a weird nomadic lifestyle where the kids seemingly rule the roost and call the shots. Her imperfections, as well as Brad’s A* list superstardom, has got in the way of him
being cancelled.

It is chilling that some women will bend over backwards to blame women for a man’s rampant abuse.

Are we sure that is a woman?

Seems a bit sus to me!

I thought exactly this in the cinema earlier an commented to dh, who had no clue whatsoever what I was talking about. So I’m assuming men don’t follow celeb news and don’t know/care so keep buying into his films.

Not just men. I (a woman) don’t follow celeb news and haven’t heard any of this stuff either.
