Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled?

Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled? I don’t even really pay attention to celebrity news but I see occasional things that he’s divorced, alcoholic, was abusive to his wife and children, children don’t want his last name, etc. Especially because his ex (Angelina Jolie) seems to be idolised for her beauty and humanitarian work. It’s not like people don’t like her!

Is Brad Pitt just too handsome? What’s the deal?

He had an end of marriage drunken bust up with his wife. Not great but hardly the crime of the century.

He’s never been charged with anything as far as I am aware.

I like him. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My sister said the same about Michael Jackson. 😐

Is that IanLightfoot's account? I like him.

Just searched and yes! That’s the guy

Because he’s a successful white male. The bar is only set high for women and minorities.

Just “male” seems to get you off the hook.

Mike Tyson is a convicted rapist and is in the Hangover films and has present day exhibition matches.

I wonder this about Pitt and Depp. Two men who are very talented, very rich, and can clearly use their charm offensive when needed. None of this should protect them, but it does.

My DH works for a company who decided to hire him as the "face" of the brand in the not so distant aftermath of the plane incident. I was shocked that anyone would want his face to their name, but DH says when it was raised at executive level no one cared. They didn't think there was enough reputational damage to overshadow his name and star quality.

The campaign never did well (they wanted it to match the Clooney coffee machine campaign, it didn't come close), but it has kind of faded into nothing and isn't really talked about.

So, the answer is patriarchy, fame, and people not really believing that domestic abuse is a big issue. Sickening.

I always ask DH how the "adverts with the family abuser" are going.

Woah....Ronaldo a rapist ?! please elaborate

Just Google it. The hush money settlement is no under fresh US investigation.

If however you meant this more as “well, he was never convicted so it’s fine”, then my response would be that I believe women and, much like Andy’s 14 million, people don’t generally cough up if they’re innocent.

Society turns a blind eye to charismatic addicts every day. They don’t need to be celebrities. They can abuse their family with practical impunity.

He just likes to have a good time. He deserves a night out. Why is she so controlling?

If you consider this a ‘drunken bust up’ I hope you don’t have children.

I can't make that court report big enough to read. Is there something I can google to get the same page posted? I understand there are loads of court documents online but it's overwhelming.

He has a very expensive and competent PR team. PR is still astonishingly effective.

I cannot fathom how Jared Leto is still not cancelled. Not only for his behaviour but he keeps getting big roles despite numerous flops.

What has Jared Leto done? I only know him as a musician (not especially a fan of his music), and the film he got the Oscar for. And the comic film he did. Don't know anything else about him.

I've also wondered this. He must have done something seriously unforgivable for his daughter to erase his name.

I think it's all or most of his six kids now sadly. Not just one daughter.

TrixieFatell · Yesterday 00:34

He's an attractive successful man. The fact that 5 out of 6 of his children don't want his name speaks volumes (though people always like to paint AJ as using parental alienation).

So what if he's divorced? He's an extremely well known actor, around for decades. I'm not a massive fan of his but I don't buy Jolie's story tbh.

From what I read years ago, the kids were extremely spoilt and allowed to run wild, apparently it was like a 'zoo' which was Jolie's insistence while Pitt tried and failed to do discipline. I can well believe this actually and can see how that escalated with the flight thing. They had a nanny each, didn't attend school or socialise with other kids apparently. No bedtime, dragged all round the world. Not great for traumatised adopted kids who needed familiarity, routine and security (pretty selfish IMO).They were prevented from seeing their grandparents on Pitt's side as well and his Mum died without seeing them.

I can imagine Jolie being an absolute nightmare (can remember the blood vials etc) and totally believe that she poisoned the kids against their Dad. She hated her own Dad as well so likely replicated that.

I can’t work out how to link but here is the text.

  1. On September 14, 2016, Jolie's marriage came to an end. On that day, Jolie, Pitt and their children were flying to Los Angeles from Chateau Miraval. Throughout the long, overnight flight, Pitt was physically and emotionally abusive to Jolie and their children. who were then between the ages of 8 and 15. After that flight, for her family's well-being Jolie decided to file for divorce.
  2. As documented in a lengthy and detailed FBI report. Pitt's aggressive behavior started even before the family got to the airport, with Pitt having a confrontation with one of the children. After the flight took off, Jolie approached Pitt and asked him what was wrong Pitt accused her of being too deferential to the children and verbally attacked her. An hour and a half later, Pitt abruptly walked over to Jolie, demanding, "Come here," and directed her to the back of the plane. He pulled her into the bathroom and began yelling at her. Pitt grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her, and then grabbed her shoulders and shook her again before pushing her into the bathroom wall. Pitt then punched the ceiling of the plane numerous times prompting Jolie to leave the bathroom. As she exited, one of their children asked, "Are you ok, mommy?" Pitt yelled back, "No, mommy's not ok" and started deriding Jolie with insults
  3. When one of the children verbally defended Jolie, Pitt lunged at his own child
and Jolie grabbed him from behind to stop him. To get Jolie off his back, Pitt threw himself backwards into the airplane's seats injuring Jolie's back and elbow. The children rushed in and all bravely tried to protect each other. Before it was over, Pitt choked one of the children and struck another in the face. Some of the children pleaded with Pitt to stop. They were all frightened. Many were crying 20. With nowhere to go and to avoid Pitt's wrath, Jolie and the children sat still and silent under blankets. Nobody dared to go to the bathroom. Pitt periodically emerged from the back of the plane to yell and swear at them. At one point, he poured beer on Jolie, at another, he poured beer and red wine on the children. After many tense hours, Pitt finally fell asleep. 21. Jolie then arranged for separate transportation at the airport. After they landed, Jolie cautioned the children that no matter what Pitt did, they should not intervene. She then went to wake Pitt up and told him that she and the children were going to a hotel. Pitt once again screamed at her, and pushed her down yet again He shouted that nobody was getting off the plane and prevented the family from deplaning for about 20 minutes. After a child intervened and demanded to leave, Pitt finally relented. But once outside the plane door, Pitt again physically abused one of their children. He also grabbed and shook Jole by the head and shoulders, causing one of the children to beg "Don't hurt her." He let Jolie go, but then called her a "bitch," before adding, "Fuck you, fuck you all." Jolie and the children then left and made it to a hotel. Five days later—on September 19, 2016—Jolie filed for divorce. 22. Having been alerted to Pitt's conduct by a third-party witness, the FBI launched an investigation. After interviewing various witnesses, the FBI agent who conducted the investigation concluded that the government had probable cause to charge Pitt with a federal crime for his conduct that day, and the agent prepared a probable cause statement for referral

This is hearsay? It was reported to the FBI not by AJ but by the plane staff.

"So probably most people just think they don't have enough information to abuse a stranger about the intricacies of their personal life, which is a nice change tbh."

The irony of this in the same message you call Angelina Jolie, a stranger that you do not know, a "cunt".

OpenScroller · Yesterday 00:47

@Gerbills what happened with the probable cause statement referral?

Was it an actual fact that plane staff saw these altercations?

Don't get why Jolie woke Pitt up if he was still asleep when they landed, instead of getting off with the children after that!

PyongyangKipperbang · Yesterday 00:48

Because "cancelling" people is childish and ridiculous, and there is no proof on either side.

Why has Madonna not been "cancelled" for buying African children? Because despite how it appears, there is no proof.

ETA You can't just make people not exist which is what the "cancel" crowd seem to want. Revenge and "taking them down" doesnt give you anything, it doesnt give happiness, satisfaction or justice. And I say this as a woman who grew up in a generation where J$%&£y Sa$%&lle was considered a hero.

Jolie asked that he was not charged because she felt that that was in the best interests of the children.

They didn’t press charges because AJ didn’t want them to. They did have enough, and the report was given not by AJ but by the staff on the plane.

This is her statement. Doesn't mean it's not full of lies.

I dislike AJ, I think she's a psychopath, and I'm not convinced that Brad is a bad person.

Here's why:

AJ has been trouble her whole life. She was with an older boyfriend at 14 and was planning to go and live on the streets with him, so her mother let her move him in to keep her safe. Started her fast lifestyle early.

  • She used to do heroin. Heroin! That is some seriously fucked-up shit.
  • She was photographed snogging her brother.
  • She wore a vial of some bloke's blood around her neck.
  • She was on her third marriage while still in her thirties.
  • She helped herself to Jennifer Aniston's husband.
  • She helped herself to Laura Dern's fiance.

Some humanitarian. She's all about caring for other humans as long as you don't have the man she wants. Then you're toast. Amazing how she forgets the humanity of the women whose men she stole.

About Brad:

  • He was investigated by the FBI and not charged. AJ does not have the authority to decide whether he gets charged or not, so the above upthread about AJ's mercy is rubbish. Where children are involved, the authorities make the decision. Brad was later given 50/50 custody of the children, and AJ simply refused to comply. She complied only when threatened with prison by a judge. She is absolutely fucking awful.
  • NONE of Brad Pitt's many previous girlfriends, fiancees, or wives have ever said that he was abusive to them. His current girlfriend, who he's been with for some time now, doesn't seem to have any complaints either.

I'm not denying that Brad lost his temper on that plane. Children can push you to breaking point, and there are six of them, plus AJ refused to ever correct them or discipline them, according to reports from people who have worked for her. No regular bedtimes or anything boring and sensible like that. (By discipline I mean consequences, not physical discipline, before the nutters come for me.) Brad did want to being them up in the normal way, with regular bedtimes and meal times and being made to brush their teeth etc. He said on the plane, apparently, "Mummy is ruining this family!"

I think Brad was pushed to breaking point on that plane by the large amount of uncontrolled children and the fact that AJ would not work with him in instilling routines and consequences.

I do not think that losing his temper like that was OK. Of course it wasn't. But it seems to have been a one-off. AJ has never complained about him being like that at other times.

Since then, he has admitted that he had a problem with alcohol and weed, and he has got help. He has turned life around. But still there is no forgiveness for him, all these years later. One incident, and that's it, he virtually never sees his family again, despite Brad being given 50/50 access. AJ just ignored the court order. She carried out a sustained, textbook campaign of parental alienation, so bad that it's permanent, because of one incident, after which he sought treatment.

Brad Pitt has been around in Hollywood for a very long time, and no one he's ever dated, been engaged or married to, or has worked with, has had bad things to say about him. He made mistakes with drink and weed, and he certainly made a mistake when he lost it on that plane. But I see nothing to indicate that he should be cut off from his children forever more. If AJ was a good person and a good parent, she'd be facilitating their relationship with their dad, like Jennifer Garner does with Ben Affleck, despite his alcohol problems.

Anyone with an ounce of common sense can weigh all this up and see that it's more than likely that AJ, the complete weirdo, is behind all this, not Brad, who's never had problems with anyone but her.

She put her desire to have her children all to herself before their welfare, and as for Brad's pain at virtually never seeing his children again, well, who cares about his feelings, right?

She's a horrible, horrible person.
