Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled?

Why hasn’t Brad Pitt been cancelled? I don’t even really pay attention to celebrity news but I see occasional things that he’s divorced, alcoholic, was abusive to his wife and children, children don’t want his last name, etc. Especially because his ex (Angelina Jolie) seems to be idolised for her beauty and humanitarian work. It’s not like people don’t like her!

Is Brad Pitt just too handsome? What’s the deal?

Can you elaborate more please

lots of persistent rumours about grim behaviour with extremely young women.

"She had a very privileged childhood as a Hollywood nepo baby. She's never said anything about her childhood being abusive. There's no evidence of this."

She had a very disturbed childhood. I read a biography of hers. The saddest part was up till the age of 1 her mum kept her in a separate bedroom. She had nannies and her mum would come to see her occasionally. Also her mum hated her dad and Jolie had a very messed up relationship with him as a result. From reports of her behaviour she clearly has trauma resulting from her childhood and probably a personality disorder. This is all published. She could have sued for libel if it wasn't true.

(One crazy story is that she hired a hitman to kill her as a suicide attempt!)

At the time of their divorce i was reading a lot of celebrity gossip. I remember that AJ and BP basically had an open relationship. But he went too far and got a co-star pregnant Marion cotillard. God knows if it's true. But we will never know.

I agree that his lyrics can be quite sexually suggestive. But from what I heard, they all address consensual activity between the speaker and adult women. I found as a writer, that if the narrator in a story is “I” some readers wrongly assume the “I” is me. He is certainly a problematic individual.

I don't think Clooney is so great. No one was good enough to marry or have kids with until he got old, panicked, and chose a woman twenty years younger with whom to run his genes through the scanner at the last minute. I always thought he seemed like a cold fish.

I hate how full of himself he is. He literally thinks hes the sexiest and hunkiest man going.

maxslice · Yesterday 06:20

AJ’s father is Jon Voight. Jon Voight is a good actor, but he’s a Trumper, which saddens me. It won’t keep me from watching his work.

Rumpoleoftheballet · Yesterday 06:20

Could it be that AJ’s statement, as posted on here, didn’t fully correlate with the staff on the plane and that’s why he wasn’t charged, ie it was possibly exaggerated?

CowTown · Yesterday 06:21

CrazyMidget · Yesterday 01:42

Oh, get a hold of yourself. It's not rampant abuse. Read my post! It's very much NOT rampant. It was one incident where he was pushed beyond his limits and lost his temper. The entire point of my defence of him is that it was ONE temper loss and that none of his other many partners or colleagues or anyone in his life or industry have ever said this about him in four decades. Meanwhile, his accuser is a deeply disturbed person.

If my common sense is chilling to you, maybe get a blanket.

You seem very desensitised to the violence described in this incident. I would be absolutely horrified if I either experienced, or witnessed, this. Why are you so comfortable dismissing this incident, even if it “only” happened once?

I believe Amal is his second wife.

They didn’t press charges because AJ didn’t want them to. They did have enough, and the report was given not by AJ but by the staff on the plane.

Oh wow, I’ve never seen or heard of that flight crew statement before. If that’s real then it’s pretty damming. Previously I did think maybe it was just an argument and then parental alienation by Jolie against Pitt but if this is correct I can see why the kids don’t like him.

CowTown · Yesterday 06:23

CrazyMidget · Yesterday 02:16

Exactly. And AJ had no authority to say he wouldn't be charged. There were children involved, and the authorities had the say-so. If anything, I'd think they'd be dying to charge a rich Hollywood hunk like him to bring him down a peg or two, But the incident was thoroughly investigated and he was not charged with anything. I think her statement is exaggerated - although I'm not denying that he lost it. Many parents would be pushed to breaking point with six unruly children and no support from the other parent to instil boundaries and consequences.

That’s not how the US legal system works.

AndImVictoriaMalcolm · Yesterday 06:23

I think it’s partly a blind spot because people like his movies and he is/was (depending on your point of view) objectively a really handsome man. It’s also partly his expensive PR team. Tbf to them they’re clearly worth what they’re paid because he continues to get work and the support of his fanbase. Everything bad that has happened is the fault of “crazy woman” Angelina Jolie. It was also AJ’s fault he left Jennifer Aniston. She enticed him away from his wife. Or it was JA’s fault for not having babies with him. But it’s never Brad Pitt’s fault. At all.

OldScribbler · Yesterday 06:23

No merit in it; I’d rather live the only life I will ever have than someone else’s.

Sentientbean · Yesterday 06:24

AJ was abused from the age of 14 and her mother didn't protect her.
She made some messed up decisions (possibly linked to the abuse) including drug use but cleaned herself up.
At the age of 25, she wore the blood of a man she loved, this man was estranged from his own daughter, he was 20 years older than AJ, and he also wore AJ’s blood in a vial around his neck. AJ’s behaviour is odd and maybe attention seeking but she was 25 and in a relationship with a 45 year old man doesnt bother anyone.
She had relationships when she was single with men who weren't. The men couldn't stay faithful to their partners. I doubt AJ blackmailed or forced them to cheat. But as ever, the poor ickle men cant possibly be expected to be responsible for their own actions and say "flattered by I'm married".
On BP
FBI had enough information to investigate it. It's a well known fact that donestic abuse is rarely prosecuted for "normal" people let alone celebrities with good lawyers and a PR team.
AJ felt her children weren't safe so took steps to protect them.
He admitted he had alcohol and drug problems during their relationship. Just like AJ he has cleaned himself up.
Despite being an adult, CHILDREN pushed him so much that he lost his temper and got physical.
AJ and him had different parenting styles.
BP only used violence on AJ and the children once (that we know of) so it's OK.
AG is a doormat.
There are no reports of BA attacking his children despite his alcohol issues so AG supports access, presumably on her terms.
AJ is trying to protect her children from a man who got drunk and/or stoned and attacked them.
Anyone who reads gossip magazines can see that BP has agency and is partially responsible for what is happening.
AJ put her desire to protect her children at the forefront.

Fedupoffeelingthisway111 · Yesterday 06:25

YankSplaining · Yesterday 01:21

Yep. Fairly or unfairly, she gives off the impression of being a potentially unreliable accuser. I’m old enough to remember when she made out with her brother and wore a pendant with Billy Bob Thornton’s blood in it. Before she remade her image by having/adopting all those kids, people thought she was a nutcase.

Also, I suspect Brad Pitt might be culturally prevalent enough that he falls into the same “too big to cancel” category as Michael Jackson and Tom Cruise. I mean, you can declare that you’re never going to watch any of his films ever again, but you’d be missing out on about thirty-five years of popular and/or culturally relevant cinema.

I googled the kissing the brother. Not to see the video but to read what happened.
Apparently it was a kiss on the lips at the excitement of winning an award for girl, interrupted.
Its weird yes, but someone on here said it was full.blown snogging on the red carpet.

So should we seperate the charity work from Saville? Should we still listen to Gary Glitter's music and watch Rolf Harris draw? Should Lost Prophets still be played on the radio?

A huge NO!!!

Sorry @IveNameChangedObviously quoted you above without acknowledgement, added a bit of further context.

Also, while AJ seems like a very strange, not particularly ethical woman, nothing excuses the way BP behaved towards her and the children. She could be a horrible person, and it still would have no relevance to him terrorising them all on that plane.

If what she alleges did happen on that plane, why did the crew not divert the plane to the nearest airport and inform security to come and arrest him? Why was he never charged? Why did he get 50/50 custody of his children?
The likeliest answer to those questions is that AJs statement was ‘unproveable’ at best, and a pack of lies at worst.

Soontobe60 · Yesterday 06:41

CrazyMidget · Yesterday 05:08

She had a very privileged childhood as a Hollywood nepo baby. She's never said anything about her childhood being abusive. There's no evidence of this.

So why is she non contact with her father?

Error404FucksNotFound · Yesterday 06:41

If my partner strangled me in front of the children and did the same to them when they tried to help me, I would do everything in my power to keep him away from them.

Indeed, women have posted on here and been told to try everything to protect their kids.

Yet because it's Brad pitt, she's wrong?

No. She's a woman who was grabbed by the head, shoved, strangled and watched one child strangled and another punched.

There should be no two sides yes but after that.

And yes, no charges. Big surprise. Women are regularly let down by the legal system.

They are also not believed.

AliasGracie · Yesterday 06:43

I'm still not clear how AJ was abused as a child. Can someone elaborate?

I'm not desensitised, I just don't believe it was as bad as she said, for the common-sense reasons that @Soontobe60 says:

That statement was not the flight crew's, it was AJ's. Its veracity is doubteful, 1) because of the reasons @Soontobe60 puts forward above and 2) because AJ is not someone you can trust to be a reliable witness.

I have read that a member of the flight crew reported the incident to the authorities as a child welfare incident, which was what kicked the whole investigation off.

Perhaps diverting the plane wasn't considered practical? I'm not involved in aviation so I wouldn't know.

Why was he never charged? I have read that as they both had minor physical injuries, and as she didn’t want to press charges, it wasn't considered worth pursuing.

Why did he get 50/50? Because abusive men are frequently given custody of their children, or access to them. The US is particularly bad for misogyny in custody battles, from what I know.

Given the fact that flight crew reported it, the children's ages when it happened (old enough to know who was in the right and who was in the wrong) and their continued estrangement from him, the fact that he admits issues with alcohol and drugs, and that he's never denied it, on balance, I think it's exceedingly likely that he did something similar to what Jolie alleged.

Do you honestly believe that one of the most powerful women in Hollywood, from a powerful family, would be ignored by the police? Especially when there were supposedly a full flight crew of witnesses, never mind the many children present?
There is clearly more to this whole incident than anyone who wasn’t present knows. Somewhere in the depths of her side of the story and his side is the actual truth. Everyone here, including me, is just speculating. Meanwhile there is a group of deeply disturbed children (now adult) who, because of one couple’s desire to buy a family, some have been taken from their heritage and thrown into the spotlight.

Is cancel culture still a thing? Seems very 2025. I’d hoped we’d moved in from that ridiculousness.

I’d be interested to know how the flight crew knew what had allegedly happened prior to boarding the plane, and whilst on the plane knew what allegedly happened in the toilet. Did they have the power of second sight?
