Yes I remember the spinner, which quickly reached escape velocity! Those machines were certainly built to last.

Lovely to see you @FuzzyPuffling you sound busy with all the medical stuff.

Funnily enough I remember being electrocuted very slightly by my mum's vacuum cleaner. Every so often it would send a tingle up my arm. Strangely I never thought to worry or complain about it!

Our Internet broke for 4 days last week. It made me realise how dependent I am on it.

Oh, in personal goodish news, I have got my sewing machine out again and have made two pairs of cotton summer trousers...elastic waist, pockets and long enough in the leg. 😀

Great to hear from you @FuzzyPuffling and well done on the sewing. I was always rubbish at it but it's a lovely thing.

Pigeon watch update.... I had a peek at the nest. Was expecting an upgraded, nice strong nest.....NOPE. Still totally rubbish 🤣

It's using bits of some spruce tree but bendy, teeny little bits.... couldn't even call it a twig! There's a semi knitted mess of them on the lower branches so it must just keep building because it won't stay together! How are pigeons so numerous when they're so lax in their parenting 😂

You never see a baby pigeon do you? Only when they’re all grown up

I'll keep you posted if I see one. I don't want to bother them or upset them but they've made it hard not to a bit as those branches should have been lopped off! They're overhanging the path badly.

It's making some lovely calm cooing noises though 🤗

We had a chinse takeaway tonight. First one since about last September. Absolutely stuffed!

I remember my grandmother having a twin tub when I was little. She used these big wooden tongs to pull the washing out.

I still own a pair of those tongs. They are brilliant if you are ever dyeing something in a bucket. Possibly niche...

Pigeons are a PITA. I accidently disturbed one last year trimming back our hedge (couldn't get the gate open below it) and saw two pairs of eyes staring back at me. I think they are nesting again this year as the buggers are waking me up at 5am each morning cooing right next to our bedroom window. They scared the life out of me last year when a fledgling decided to hit our bedroom full on and then sit on the window ledge shrieking. I have a picture of the critter but I feel it will out me if I share it

They're not the brightest of birds @Oioiqueen and yep...they never stop nesting. These are big fat wood pigeons. I am quite fond of them though their coo cooooo coo coo coo...wears a bit thin!

@MewithME thick as mince they are. I quite enjoy watching the starlings as they are aggressive sods. Our sparrows also got quite brave and started sitting on the kitchen windowsill waiting for the feeder to be topped up. You honestly wouldn't know we have a cat with the antics of the birds

Here we are again wide awake. Someone is doing a marvelous impression of an asthmatic warthog, blissfully unaware of my gritted teeth and patience of not walloping him with a pillow.

Debating whether to get up & risk disturbing ddogs. I'll give it another hour me thinks.

Oh I always enjoyed a good quiz when we lived near a village. One year our Mums and Toddlers team beat off all the men's teams. They didn't see that coming!!

Thanks @MewithME for the washing machine info, I have not heard of that make, I will bear it in mind when mine finally gives up the ghost.

The AI thing is interesting, but I find it a bit worrying. I obviously read too much dystopian science fiction, and fear the machines taking over. Although I imagine a washing machine would be a more benign and helpful beast, than say, a driverless car. On the other hand, a robot to do the boring bits of housework gardening like mowing and grout cleaning, would be brilliant.

I'm trying my hand at a bit of painting, concentrating on enjoying the process, and trying not to mind that they end up looking like something a 3 year old would be ashamed of. Its an attempt at mindfulness, and not feeling that I am wasting the days away. I also do a bit of embroidery, which I'm a bit better at. But I've got arthritis in my fingers and thumbs, and doing too much makes them painful. I've had to give up crochet because I can't maintain the tension evenly. Never mind, I've already got too many crocheted blankets anyway.

Hope we all have a jolly as possible weekend. Its bloody hot here already. My mum told me yesterday that we were getting another heatwave. I wasn't aware the current one had stopped.

As far as I know @danglethedingle the heatwave hasn’t stopped. The north might get some rain either today or Sunday depending on the area but not much I don’t think but the weather presenter said the heatwave might stop on Sunday unless your mum meant heat health alert?

@JewelleryCat more than likely that's what she meant. She's in the very South East corner, and I'm in the South West. They often get a couple of degrees hotter than us, so that's probably what she was talking about.

Morning all, hope you can all have a relaxing Saturday.
A rather slow one here as pain in shoulder is back. I did do some cleaning the last couple of days and lots of laundry though DH mostly pegs out as one arm is still considerably weaker now. Think I’ve maybe just used it a bit too much. I can tell I’ve been doing better as not reaching for the extra painkillers often and on holiday only needed them on a couple of occasions. Unfortunately in real life, stuff needs to be done!

Taking it easy today, I’ve finished a book this morning and now sitting out in the shade wirh a coffee ( too hot for Sun!) No builders next door so it’s blissfully quiet today 😊

I quite like the coo of the pigeons too @MewithME but we often get magpies who can make quite a racket! Since dippy dog found a baby magpie in the garden and the mother bird squawking in alarm, if she hears them now, she gets all giddy and starts zooming around searching 😂 I call her dippy but she’s actually rather clever!

Have you or anyone watched Ann Droid on Iplayer? We watched this week and I thought it was very funny.

Slow start here too. Woke at 6am then dozed and woke and dozed. Have finally got round to having a bath and I'm sort of up but not 'at em'! Feeling super tired. I must rest though need to plod through some bits this weekend.

I am looking into Royal Mail redirection services, I think a family one with the same surname is what we need. DH gets post in two names.

DH on his birth certificate is (say) Devil Satan Strumpets, but has always been called Satan because his dad was called Devil Beelzebub Strumpets. They both used to get post addressed to Mr D. Strumpets which was very inconvenient. Now he gets Mr D. Strumpets and Mr S. Strumpets depending who's writing.

When I was expecting DD1 my MIL seriously suggested I should call the baby Demon Satan so he and his dad could have the same initials 😈 I could write a book about my MIL and her foibles. She was upset when I had a girl because she thought the first one "should" be male! TBF she adored her granddaughters after first cuddle.
