Engagement rings - "classic" or not?

I was talking to my husband tonight about engagement rings. He said that "most" women prefer the classic style of a solitare, or at least a solitare-like setting synonymous with a traditional engagement.
He said I was a (in a kindly teasing way) a "nightmare" as I insisted nothing would displease me more than a classic ring "similar to that of most other women" - hence why I chose my ring myself (tbh he was correct!!)
But it got me thinking - do "most" women really opt for this classic style?
Subsequent to that, I also pleasantly surprised him with retaining my Ms MyName and having a home birth, but I do like to do "me"! 😀

Do you also have a fringe, OP?

And did you breastfeed until DC were 8

@bittertwisted Not quite - 18 months, 3 years, and 3.5 years. Also no cots 😀

OP, there seems to be an undercurrent that you think your choices make you a better person than anyone else?

Most definitely! And how dreadfully down market to need a hospital birth 😜

Who cares OP? Wear what engagement ring you like? Literally no one gives a shit. I can’t say I’ve ever had a huge opinion on friends engagement rings. If they like them, then that’s all that counts surely? You do seem to be investing a lot of time into wondering what people think. That’s strange.
