Pretty much that
Today he has just gone around the pool talking to everyone.
I have been in the pool but then I got out to get some shade.
i have asked him to spend some time with me and he just said “you know what I’m like,I like to talk to people”
I said I know that, and you talk to people of course
Can you spend time with me too?
Fell on deaf ears
He is still in the pool talking to everyone
Would it bother you ?

Lassofnorth · 01/07/2026 20:01

No it wouldn’t bother me at all.

Janecat23 · 01/07/2026 20:01

It doesn’t matter if it would bother me or not . It matters that it bothered you. He’s clearly a social butterfly and maybe a bored sunbather. Maybe try and chat it over though to see how you can make something work. Acknowledge that he likes a bit of chat. Sounds silly but see if you can play some daft word games together like list the countries you’ve been to or can you name all the American states or questions about what you both dream about. Good luck!!! Xxxx

Survivingnotthriving24 · 01/07/2026 20:23

Is he one of those insufferable drunken louts that thinks everyone is enthralled by him dimwitted conversation and wants to be the centre of attention? Every holiday resort has one.

Julimia · 01/07/2026 20:25

Not at all.He could be doing far worse. And you can join him or sunbathe or read or whatever.

Bridesmaidorexfriend · 01/07/2026 20:32

Are you the one who is on their honeymoon?

aCatCalledFawkes · 01/07/2026 20:38

I honestly think some people go out of their minds on holiday without constant socialising or having something to do or talk to or even drink. Especially if they are used to people being around them for work, hobbies or socialising. As much as we all love a holiday I don't think some holidays are suited to everyone.

Rocknrollstar · 01/07/2026 20:53

I’m the one who talks to people and if we hire a car I often send him out for the day on his own. You are lucky he goes off to talk to people. My dad did this but insisted on mum sitting next to him and she just wanted piece and quiet and not to hear all his stories again.

2chocolateoranges · 30/06/2026 20:41

Not at all, I’d happily sit and read my book ,

Me too.

Dh always wants to chat to everybody. I don’t mind.

Thisisthecorrectresponse · 01/07/2026 21:03

Eugh. You can just bet that a good chunk (if not all) of the people around the pool are nodding and smiling at him, wishing he'd go away. I imagine all will be feeling sorry for you.

RampantIvy · 01/07/2026 21:06

I don't know why posters are responding to the OP. She isn't reading this thread - like all the other threads she started about this poor excuse of an abusive alcoholic partner/husband.

I suspect she will start another thread that she won't reply to.

Perhaps she is reading opinions that she doesn't want to hear?

EarthSight · 01/07/2026 21:12

Yes you're entitled to be annoyed.

Some people are very extroverted. Sometimes that works with someone more introverted, but I think it often causes a lot of tension.

And then, maybe it's not that complicated. Men speak with their actions. If he's spending more, or as much time with total strangers on a holiday and he's doing that on a regular basis, then that suggests that he just doesn't find you particularly interesting to talk to. I'm sorry OP, but A LOT of men, especially younger men, seem to prioritise sexual attractiveness and having a girlfriend who will dote on them above having a girlfriend they actually find interesting, or even like.

In such relationships, the early excitement stage gets them through the first year or two, but then cracks start to show over time and the woman starts feeling lonelier and lonelier as he effectively emotionally abandons her, even though they're still technically in a relationship.

Feduptryingusernames · 01/07/2026 21:14

Personally I'd be delighted to sit read a book and have quiet time on my own. My husband talks to everyone and sometimes I worry people may find it intrusive but most appear to be happy to chat - I think he talks too much so am happy to see him go off. Why not go for a walk on your own?

BridgetJonesV2 · 01/07/2026 21:15

Well this is like ground hog day.

PinkyFlamingo · 01/07/2026 21:17

inkyspells · 30/06/2026 20:51

No there’s been no arguments
he hust always does this

Well it can't be any suprise then? And you still go on holiday with him?

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/07/2026 21:18

They’re on honeymoon and the other day he went off and got pissed all day. Sorry @inkyspellswhat happened the day after he was sick and you put him to bed?

I'd probably join him and start chatting to people with him but that's my personality, it might just be his too, he might just like mingling, I wouldn't take it to heart, it depends how long you've been together as I'm sure you spend a lot of other time together on the holiday

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/07/2026 21:24

She posts all the time and never answers any questions or updates.

Ryanstartedthefire2 · 01/07/2026 21:35

I dont think id mind that. My DH is pretty antisocial tho!

HeartyViper · 01/07/2026 21:39

inkyspells · 30/06/2026 20:43

I don’t mind being on my own for a while but 4 hours I’ve sat by myself

This is not me being flippant, but honestly? It sounds heavenly.

BeeDavis · 01/07/2026 21:40

Why are you spending your honeymoon making threads on here about your husband?! You literally posted the other day about him.

pinkpony88 · 01/07/2026 21:42

This is my ideal scenario on a hotel holiday. DH likes to chat to people and be sociable. I like to read my book and hope to god nobody tries to talk to me. 🤭

Screamingabdabz · 01/07/2026 21:54

Do people actually do this? So how does it work? You’re on the sun bed relaxing, reading your book and some chatty Cathy decides to come up blocking your sun just randomly ‘chatting’? Ugh who wants that? Don’t people go on holiday to get away from annoying randoms?

As for op - according to pp this dick she’s married to is an insufferable knob 24/7. But she continues to put up with it. So no sympathy from me.

Switcher · 01/07/2026 22:00

I'd dump him and go home, personally.

Because he’s an arsehole. OP if your honeymoon is this bad, your married life is going to be terrible. Are you sure you really want to remain married to him.

To all the PPs saying they wouldn’t mind this: OP IS ON HER HONEYMOON.
