A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

@Bullandbear thank you for explaining that

I feel as if I missed very obvious things! If I ever make a load of money, I'm coming to you for advice 😂

That is really concerning, to be honest. To my mind, the police should be looking at that to see who was involved and what the hell was going through their minds.

I hope Burnham has a good security detail.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 14/07/2026 01:21

Particularly inappropriate after Ann Widdecombe was murdered just days ago.

It feels like Monty Python meets 1984 - a farce wrapped in bureaucracy, fuelled by incompetence and overreach!

This!

Bullandbear · 14/07/2026 06:06

A trans activist has been condemned for wishing that Ann Widdecombe had an “extremely painful death”.

Heather Herbert, a transgender woman, said it was “good news” that the former Tory minister had died and hoped she was “handcuffed to the bed as she screamed in agony” during her last moments.

The “vile” remarks were posted on Bluesky on Friday before it was announced that Miss Widdecombe’s death was being treated as an murder.

Herbert is employed as a web developer at the University of Aberdeen. The university said it was investigating the comments.

I hope she has the book thrown at her - idiot.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/07/2026 06:13

It's a he, @Bullandbear. He's a transwoman.

Bullandbear · 14/07/2026 06:13

Sorry, he/him, as it’s a fella.

It’s all so confusing nowadays.

What’s not in doubt is the bloke is a complete wrong ‘un.

WhatFreshHelll · 14/07/2026 06:36

Didn't he also stand as a labour candidate that Herbert man ?

  • oh just come up on the news he is willing to drill in the north sea if it means he can get the chancellor job . .
Middlerage · 14/07/2026 06:59

As soon as I saw the story about the Aberdeen employee I knew it was a trans activist…it’s good news that it’s gotten a lot of negative press. I fear we’re all doomed to repeat learning the lessons of why toleration was and is such an important concept…

Principles can only get one so far.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/07/2026 07:12

Yes, there's a thread on FWR which goes into some detail as to why it makes more sense to call them 'trans-identifying' men / women as their actual sex is mentioned. Less confusing.

ETA: I typed this nearly an hour ago in response to @Badbadbunny, but failed to post it!

They're not hiding their intention to cause 'direct harm' against politicians - as well as against organisations and people they disagree with - for political purposes.

Isn't this terrorism?

Middlerage · 14/07/2026 07:16

We’ll see - my understanding is police are investigating it as terrorism….poor Ann, what an awful and untimely death.

But surely you can sack him from his net zero job and also not give him the Chancellor role? Get somebody competent (😬) into both roles! 🤷‍♀️

Does he really think that the markets will be calmed by him agreeing to extending drilling in one oil field - as an obvious bribe to get the treasury - after the destruction he has caused?!?

No, Ed - they are 'jittery' because they believe you intend huge amounts more destruction. And a single concession doesn't change that.

Burnham would be mad to make him chancellor.

Now that would very sensible!

I don't understand how he was able to refuse to give up the energy job when Starmer tried to move him, though. How does that work?

Sorry, @Bullandbear. I had very little sleep and my brain is suffering!
