I think NI which they're considering putting on landlords as an extra tax at 8% because it's considered income not a business will eventually extend to private pensions.

The OBR has the earlier date, which has been released.

But only if they retire before state pension age, I'd think. NI is only applicable prior to that, and I can't see that changing.

Well state pension, private pension, property plus bank interest, shares etc is taxed and considered income. It's not such a stretch nor difficult to add ni to your income tax bill.

It was 60 for me when I started working! Then jumped to 65, then 66, and now I’ll get mine when I am 67. I hope...

NI only applies pre-state pension age though. Unless they're going to change that policy, so everyone with any income at all post-state retirement age has to pay NI, they won't apply it to private pensions past that age.

The income state plus private is taxed as income though. It won't affect those with nothing more than a state pension.

Brave = foolish, perhaps.

For context, this government could not get a measly GBP 5 bn past the back benches last summer, of course.

Andy Burnham has been urged to reconsider more than £12bn of Rachel Reeves’s tax rises amid growing fears for jobs and growth.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) said repeated tax raids and the Chancellor’s £25bn jobs levy were driving up the cost of living.

In a stark analysis, the Paris-based think tank also said Britain’s youth jobs crisis now threatened the future of the state pension as it called for the triple lock to be scrapped.

It said Britain’s record tax burden meant the new prime minister would have to focus on spending cuts to balance the books, cautioning against further raids on households and businesses.

Pat McFadden has declared that Labour must stop “simply writing a cheque” to benefit claimants.

The Work and Pensions Secretary suggested that the Government would soon try again to reform the welfare system to tackle Britain’s worklessness crisis.

Yep. Plus Labour policies causing higher unemployment doesn’t help.

We’re with the OECD, not sure many will listen now they’ve said policies should be reversed.

I remember Burnham not being bothered about benefits back in 2015 when he lost to Corbyn. That was one of the reasons Corbyn won IIRC.

At least we don't have Starmer hot footing it on a free Private Jet or Andy Burnham lauding at a national ceremony !

Having, said that you cannot sit on the edge of your own box for thirty minutes against the 2nd best side in the World and Expect to get away with it. The last 30 minutes after Gordon scored was more 'Southgate than Southgate'. It is one thing in Mexico City with ten men another against Argentina with 11 men and likelihood of Extra Time. In the end perhaps tiredness of the 'Ambush' in Mexico the brutal heat of Miami might have played its part on the players who looked very tired . Thus, if you have 26 maybe he could have used Kobe Mainoo . However, I think on hindsight from a team who are a mess at the back and realistically less gifted players in this squad bar Kane Bellingham Rice and maybe Anderson than 2002-2010 A Semi Final is our level.

One day maybe because we keep knocking at the door back to back Euro U21 Wins last two Euro Finals in 2021/2024 2021 was the worst loss of all 1-0 up against a 'Poor' Italy side and Southgate blew it !

P.S how long is it going to be before Pickford causes a goal with his stupid ball play where he thinks he is equal to Edison or Bruce Grobbelaar with his ball skills. At times Pickford is a liability !

For the record after Gordons Goal we had '12%' of the ball hardly Spain is it You can not win a Game of Football with One Shot unless you are very lucky !
