A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

His opinion of Sky News was interesting. I've heard it before from the conservatives. Personally I went off them years ago.

justasking111 · 07/07/2026 15:55

Starmer just made me laugh. Desperate stunt by a man of sleaze. Was he looking in the mirror perhaps.

I have mixed feelings about Reform

Probably best not to go into it here because somebody will likely grab onto it and misrepresent it.

But in terms of calling a by election

I think there is something wrong with our political system if you can call one for this reason

Totally happy to discuss that point - it just seems a little bit odd. And incredibly expensive.

I realise Nigel Farage himself has nothing to lose from this but I wonder how his party feels. Their last gamble didn't work well. And Makerfield wasn't their responsibility, but I wouldn't say that went terribly well either.

Just heard the Reform have offered to pay for the by-election costs -unlike the Labour Party vanity project in Makerfield which was completely unnecessary -in this case it is an honorable vote of confidence (or not) given all rhe wild allegations about him.

At least we won’t have to see him soon, his mirror will be it ;

justasking111 · 07/07/2026 15:57

Seriously I don't want any mp of any party to be in physical danger that some are at times.

DancingFerret · 07/07/2026 16:01

Fun day all round so far - Farage resigns (and I have a feeling Clacton might be his swansong) and Harry loses his case against ANL.

@CaveMum Those kittens are delightful. They'll be a riot when they come out from under the bed.😉

Agree. Its wrong whoever is on the receiving end. The left are fine with it when its someone they don't like.
I have a lot of sympathy for what Farage said about his daughter. Sky News has basically admitted that they were at a property linked to Farage and were told to sod off by the occupant - presumably Farage's daughter. They lied when they said that they hadn't approached his family on air yesterday.

This

Will Andy Burnham now cough up for the two by-elections he caused?

Same. His daughter should be left out of this.

Farage is grandstanding. It would not be allowed.

Yep. How about whipping against a privileges committee. Pot kettle bollard.

Good good. Laughing at some of the posts on Twiglets thread. 🤣

Anyone else looking forward to Count Binface's manifesto for Clacton? 😁

It was getting a bit dull what with Burnham taking his time doing matey clips and bollard doing hair gel videos.

Wake up some mners on a hot Tuesday afternoon 😬

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 07/07/2026 16:57

Sadly, I think Farage will get re-elected.

I doubt that will end his troubles. But he will have the ‘triumphant’ photos on the night and a narrative to spin.

However, if he loses, probably to the Tories, that’s the end of Reform. I cannot believe that any senior Reform figure agreed with this risky strategy.

If he loses, I'm not sure he'll toddle off into the sunset though. He can still influence while not being an MP, perhaps even more so. He's been around for years now, yet only an MP for two years.

I think they will have, but obviously can’t be sure. A couple have been speaking pretty strongly on press issues.

They need someone to hate don't they, keeps them ticking.
How will they cope in this by election if they need Kemi to beat Farage? Their heads will explode.

@LupaMoonhowl thank you, a relief that they are paying for it

Looking at the figures from the last election, I think they probably will win.

How is this rude @CotswoldCornucopia ? The pp even said please!

I believe the bold 'are' was more indicative of the tone.
