Farage didn't have a good day on his media rounds, even Julia Hartley-Brewer gave him a hard time over the £5m

It really is hard to shake the notion "something" has happened "somewhere".

I wonder if the scale of Reforms loss Burnhams win has caused a reappraisal as to where the future lies ?

You think Harborne might want his money back? How I’d laugh.

I don't know. We have no idea what Farage "sold" in the first place. I mean he conned an entire country. So a greedy tax exile would almost be beneath his dignity.

I can happy call both of them cunts,. by the way. Because neither is the victim here.

You're very welcome and I hope you don't mind.

Not at all, it's everyone's thread. Just glad you started it before the old one ran out.

He's not a happy bunny is he? Heard him earlier on Radio 4 Today and he was a little incoherent to say the least.

Was that when he told Nick Robinson that Robinson should give his salary to charity ?

It was unhinged in a very Donald Trump way.

I wonder if this is adult Nigels way of channelling his inner toddlers "LOOK AT ME !!!!!" drive ?

placemats · 23/06/2026 18:28

It was most bizarre when he said that.

It was most bizarre when he said that.

It vaguely reminded me of when comedians (or actors) go off script.

Which does rather raise the question about whether some of Farages previous interviews have been scripted ?

placemats · 23/06/2026 18:35

It seemed to me that he was being obnoxiously defensive because he was lying.

pointythings · 23/06/2026 18:42

That was fully bananas, indeed. I mean, for a start the £5m was a gift, not a salary. Farage gets his MP salary for doing fuck all for his constituency after all.

BIossomtoes · 23/06/2026 18:48

He’s a terrible liar, his face and his bluster blatantly give him away.

Well we know his recent absence wasn't for media training.

32 degrees here atm.
I am deeply unhappy 🫠
There is a limit - amazingly - to how many choc ices I can stomach 😬

Wrt: fartage - reactions straight out of the trump/gop playbook...deny, lie and act outraged to be asked perfectly valid questions.

Vat could be cut in half for hospitality for a start. No one in their right mind would start up a pub or restaurant business right now. I know he’s hated on here but Jeremy Clarkson has shown you can’t make any money. He’s going to put up prices.

Clarkson prices were too low. He is selling quality British food at chain restaurant prices. Dh and I looked at the prices a while ago and were shocked by how good they are. We said we would happily pay more at the time. We just have to get our act together to book.

@derxa dh and I have worked in a variety of jobs that changed depending on our families needs- we tried to ensure a parent was there for the children as much as possible. This meant neither of us are high earners and relied on tax credits to help pay the bills. We worked damn hard in our jobs and you can take your opinion that low earners are shirkers and shove it. Ds1 is a vet (I'm sure you value them) and now out earns me, dd has just graduated and will probably also out warn me in a year or so. That doesn't mean I am lazy.

Any business that makes a profit whist its full-time workers have to claim government support should be made to repay the difference. It's not the workers fault, its the profiteers.

The video I linked upthread about Clarkson made for interesting reading.

For all the doom and gloom, Hawstone is at a £44 million turnover, and a fuck you to Tescos.

Raven08 · 23/06/2026 19:53

Clarkson is a multi millionaire who farms as a hobby/tv revenue stream and to avoid IHT (he has stated thats why he bought the farm).
Not really applicable to the majority of farmers, at least around here.

It is why Clarkson bought the land though, he was quite open about that.

I’ve been gone again for quite a while.

Just too much going on in RL.

However I thought I’d put my 2 pennith worth in and say I really don’t think a change of leader right now is going to improve things.

It is why he bought the land. Trying to farm the land appears to have brought an education and an entire paradigm shift. He has done a lot of good for farming, even if we stand on different sides of the inheritance tax divide.

“We need to make sure that this man should not be let anywhere near the levers of power, not the energy department or anywhere else.”

Hate to tell them but they can’t make sure of anything now. They’re not in charge any more.
