A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour* *government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

She’s the one her defrauded her employer and then lued to the police about a work phone. You couldn’t make it up.

She had Little-Mermaid red hair, but has toned it down.

Again. 🤡

Middlerage · 27/06/2026 22:41

I saw that article about dismantling the treasury and thought - how long is all of this mess going to take to unpick, it’s bad enough already…

Her mission is to re nationalise the railways I've just discovered. Her university CV says studied xyz. It doesn't say that she actually got a degree. Interesting past though.

There seems to be a lot of “mis-direction” in Labour CVs. Just thinking of RR.

MPforTitipu · 27/06/2026 16:24

Yep. Nearly all the people I listed live independently, although a couple live in supported accommodation.

Yea sorry by independant living I meant vulnerable people who live in the commity so called indpendant but wouldnt be able to get ice or buy an air con etc and have very little support bar someone who comes to make meals for a few hours.

Saw in the telegraph allies urging Burnham to make Louise Haigh the Chancellor. I've never heard of her.

Haigh's departure is the first cabinet resignation under Sir Keir Starmer's government.

justasking111 · 28/06/2026 00:16

Goodness that hair. She's stepping out with another MP from northern Ireland apparently.

Somebody here has made sure a rescue bid could not happen 'Prime Development Land' Disgusting Labour Philipson , then pure greed . I am hating this country more every single F Day. Parents had £4 million Pounds of funding available for starters and than suddenly it closes !

However, after Burnham has done his thing there will be nobody left who can afford the £1 million Apartments and £3.5 Million houses some one probably intends to build there ....

redange · 28/06/2026 01:09

This is the start of the collapse of Private education in the UK . Only Eton Harrow and possibly Wycombe Abbey will Survive !

justasking111 · 28/06/2026 04:35

This land tax will not work in Wales. I did the calculations last night. Our council tax this year is £3700. Under the land tax it will drop around £1700. To £2000. It's a 3 bed bungalow at the top end price wise because of location. This will bankrupt our council and we're in a wealthy area.

Our biggest bill is social services carers, care in the community, provision for sen. Our elderly population is high.

Our properties just aren't that valuable in Wales.

I cannot believe that Burnham would give an MP who was found guilty of committing financial fraud the position of Chancellor, I wouldn't let her near the petty cash.

I mean, after Labour fell into self inflicted harm after appointing a paedophile apologist for ambassador, a corrupt corruptions minister and a homelessness minister who threw her own tenants out onto the street to jack up the rent, you'd think there would be some level of self preservation about putting ridiculous people in ridiculous posts from here on in.

All together now…

WHO CAN WE TAX TO PAY BENEFITS TO OTHERS?

That is the most startling thing about ‘virtuous’ Labour: give a Labour MP a ministerial post and they’ll do precisely what they’re supposed to be stopping. Appalling hypocrites.

I should praise Healey and Carns though. They were actually trying to promote defence. But their jobs were made impossible by a government that can’t escape the party’s preference for welfare over everything else.

Middlerage · 28/06/2026 09:35

It’ll be interesting to hear what the speech contains on Monday, AB is walking a fine line here as there is no manifesto support for restructuring the treasury or borrowing a lot more…

EasternStandard · 28/06/2026 09:38

Louise Haigh.. I mean if that actually happens how bizarre.

Look at what the country needs and choose wisely, not just who turned up a lot during a by-election campaign.

justasking111 · 28/06/2026 09:38

There's trouble in Brussels. I couldn't lift the cartoon out so had to screenshot.

Yes, although he may well do a Starmer+Reeves and float potential policy simply to gauge voter reaction, before performing a handbrake turn (à la his WASPI u-turn).

He’s renowned for being a lightweight weathervane - I am therefore expecting him to throw some red meat (plant-based alternative) to the left, and which will prove growth-negative.

justasking111 · 28/06/2026 09:53

Don't know what he's going to do about N Ireland it's bad. Gangs of locals tossing immigrants out of their homes. Two huge gangs on opposing sides in Dublin fighting in Henry Street in the middle of the shopping district.

Starmer hasn't been able to do anything.

How can they be so far removed that they can't see themselves how we see them.

The DIP still sounds rubbish.

I think the feeling in many quarters is even an improved DIP is really designed for public consumption - "highest spending since XXX" or whatever...

Without a radical change in the way the Treasury allocates cash to allow a big uplift in defence spending PDQ (and along with that a route and branch reform of defence procurement) it's all window dressing.
