Morning all! I got up early and am ready for a nap now!

I wanted to go out this morning but by the time DH was ready to go I was feeling faint so obviously underestimated the weather! I had been cursing his long winded friend who rang at 9am and talked for 40 minutes but I think it was a blessing in disguise😉 It had taken ages to get ready but no time at all to strip off for staying at home.

It's ridiculous how I always dress in the expectation of being knocked over by a bus when I go out, whereas at home bra and pants have been abandoned the last few weeks!

TeaAndStrumpets · Yesterday 11:28

All the forecasts say 24° but it's 27° indoors in a shady room. A bit more than I expected.

MewithME · Yesterday 11:44

Morning. It's boiling again but breezy. I've done probably too much physically already ... I was resting but had that feeling of "really....? Is this all there is? " Lying on he sofa alone with my thoughts...not good!

So I've tidied some bits I chopped of my tree and hedge last time I had the urge. Now I can sit under the tree at least.

I'm listening to the grasshoppers. The wildlife is happy with my lack of overall gardening efforts anyway!

@TeaAndStrumpets I felt like a nap as soon as I woke up!

Embracing siestas, midday/afternoon sleep is going beyond my normal chronic fatigue napping. I’ve been getting as much done as I can in the morning, then resting til well after 3pm.

Swanhilde · Yesterday 13:35

Still hot here and breezy, but 'cooler' if that makes sense 😂

Late night watching the football so having a quiet day working on a mosaic project I've been planning ☺️

Men's singles at 4pm and left over chili for tea 😋

Stay cool everyone 😎

TeaAndStrumpets · Yesterday 14:03

I'm almost too hot to care. DH invited someone round on the spur of the moment (mystery hobby in true MN fashion) Well I thought they'd stay outside comparing sprockets and cylinder heads and then chap would bugger off. DH just said (as he left the house) well if he comes in for a cup of tea he'll have to take us as he finds us 😱

Well he WILL find us with a clean bathroom and tidy sitting room, and I WILL be wearing a bra. I am now a hot mess and not in a sexy way. Grrrr.

How many ice lolly’s is too many for 1 person?!

Well you should aim for 9 cups of fluid per day so 9x 250ml. Lollies measure 65 - 80 mil. I think seeing as it's bloody hot you will need double your normal fluid intake. So about 27 large lollies extra.

Probably not as many if Calippos, but you have some leeway I assume!

TeaAndStrumpets · Yesterday 16:35

If I were appearing on an advert for lollies I would be wearing a white lab coat and Serious Specs.

MewithME · Yesterday 16:40

@TeaAndStrumpets @ValleyClouds DS just loves ice ...ice cubes, ice lollies...all year round thing. He's so thrilled with the new ice maker... constant supply...in fact I can hear him making more iced drinks rn.

I think if you have mini milks or mini magnums you could go higher than 27 ...or even a freeze pop...they barely count 😁

It's practically dieting if you have such tiny lollies.

martha79 · Yesterday 16:57

27 🤣 I've got mini fruit ones the same size as mini milks and I'm sure I had a full box of 8 one day last week.

Definitely breezier today but I've not been out. Done a lot of napping, I definitely needed it.

TeaAndStrumpets · Yesterday 16:57

Well after me tidying and doing an emergency clean up our visitor stayed outside, so it was a wasted effort. Still, we're visitor ready!

We have finally watched The Capture on iPlayer, enjoyed the first season so will continue. We also found St Denis Medical, which was made by the people who wrote Superstore which was really funny. Nothing too intense in this heat!

JewelleryCat · Yesterday 17:05

I liked Superstore! @TeaAndStrumpets

MewithME · Yesterday 17:13

I need something to watch. I have loads of streaming and I've run out! Not sure what I'm in the mood for.

It was very entertaining wasn't it? I think St Denis Medical is aiming for the Scrubs vibe. There is no comparison really, but it's an easy watch!

Superstore as mentioned is good. Don't know where it is on atm. I do like a workplace sitcom. I really liked the Office USA, I am easy to please. Kim's Convenience is also really good. Fisk of course, Colin from Accounts. There is a new Diane Morgan series but may be a bit poignant by the sound of it.

If you want some dark humour Obituary is good (ITVX)

CoffeeBeansGalore · Yesterday 17:36

Some series to consider.

We enjoyed Evil
4 (?) Seasons. Supernatural thing. A (rather dishy) priest, female psychiatrist & techy guy investigate hauntings, demon entities & people supposedly possessed. Netflix.

Pennyworth. Based on the young adult life of Batman's butler Albert Pennyworth based mainly in London (Eastend?). Long before Batman existed. Very well done with some good old fashioned villains. Again Netflix.

Resident Alien. Small town America. Alien assumes identity of town Doctor. Season 3 just come out. Quirky, quite funny.

From. Weird almost zombie series. Kind of horror. People end up in this small previously abandoned town & cannot leave. These horrible zombie creatured com out at night. Just finished season 4 & annoyingly it didn't finish. They are dangling another series. American.

Broadchurch. Only found it last year but quite old now. Detective series based by the sea in the UK with Olivia Coleman & David Tennant. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Forgotton. English detective series. Nicola Walker & Sanjeev can't remember surname. Really good.

River. Another UK police series although main character is Swedish (?).

The Capture. Policing with AI. Female lead. Good.

Manhunt. Series based on solving murders (inc Milly Dowler) by Levi Bellfield. Stars Martin Clunes. Really good.

TeaAndStrumpets · Yesterday 17:59

@CoffeeBeansGalore I thought River was so good! Thanks for the other recommendations. Unforgotten wasn't the same after Nicola Walker left.

CoffeeBeansGalore · Yesterday 18:03

@TeaAndStrumpets no it wasn't.
You're welcome. If I think of any others I'll let you know 😊

I'm watching 'I, Jack Wright' - it's a bit like a modern Agatha Christie.

MewithME · Yesterday 18:50

Ohh thanks @martha79 that might be a go-er!

I've just started the American remake of Doc Martin. Quite fun so far.

@CoffeeBeansGalore From might be fun too, thanks 👍🏻

I loved Unforgotten but I think I need to try and be more upbeat 😁
