Slow garden pottering day here ☀️🌱🌻

DD returned from her latest travel adventures late last night so I'm looking forward to catching up with her tales once she emerges from her bedroom. She's at work tomorrow morning at 9.30 and is planning on staying up to watch England! Clubbing til 4am and then going to work is quite normal for her - oh to have her youth and energy 😆

Dozymoo42 · 05/07/2026 12:41

Another day of PEM for me today am definitely paying the price but Buble was worth it!

I'm a little down if I am honest I think the realisation of how much my life has changed. I was hoping to return to work this week but have to be honest with myself that I am not ready yet 😢

As my wise mum has said “they can make as many adaptation's as you need dozymoo but they can’t adapt for the days when you physically cannot get out of bed”

It is hard. Especially so as others rarely realise the impact on every day life. Normal just isn't our normal any more. 💐

@Dozymoo42 this is honestly the hardest part of living with chronic health conditions. @CoffeeBeansGalore hasit spot on. It's taken me years and a bucket load of therapy and I still don't think I'm there yet. The frustration and sadness is so real 😞

Be kind to yourself. Celebrate what we can do, try not to wallow in what we can't. And remember, Bublé was worth it 😍

CoffeeBeansGalore · 05/07/2026 12:14

@MewithME okay here goes. Tesco have 2 which I would say are worth it.
The (originally) more expensive one is currently on a clubcard deal and therefore cheaper. The Pro Breeze counter top in grey. £64.99

2nd one Homcom £71.99.

Both are self cleaning. We remove the trays & clean in the sink & then activate the cleaning mode to give it a thorough clean.

2 sizes of ice cubes (bullet shaped) is convenient. The smaller ones slide easily into water bottles.

They will be rattly when dispensing. No avoiding it. But mainly just a hum whilst freezing.

Both free delivery & being a UK retailer guarantee /warranty shouldn't be an issue.

Unfortunately the Aldi one isn't available at the moment. Shame as it's good.

You are amazing 🤩 Thank you

I don't actually have a clubcard because I took a huff with Tesco twenty years ago and haven't relented but I will search for them 😂

I have a great affinity with crows. Perhaps I was one in a past life 😂

Or the Mafia. Is it a blood feud by any chance?

I'm sure other places will sell them. They are not Tesco exclusive.

Ha....no, no Italian blood in my family.

It was me being peed off about some dodgy ethics from Tesco about twenty years ago. They had a particular policy of buying up land to stop redevelopment, just in case they wanted to plonk a supermarket on it in future. One such site was in my home area, and it seemed particularly out of order so I stopped shopping there. Plus some dodgy track record around their clothing being manufactured with iffy child labour etc. It was a long time ago. I forgot the details but remember 'i don't like them' 😂

Clearly they have managed to scrape by without my custom though 😁

Feel all restless this afternoon. I know my body wants rest but I feel all twitchy. I think my nervous system is out of whack. Was going to lie down but it's not happening. Feel jittery. I'm going to go repot some plants!

I've got one from Amazon. I mean, that Jeff Bezos is a stand up guy I'm sure 🙈

I can at least laugh at my weirdnesses.

And thanks again. You've saved me some thinking!

That sounds sensible, I think nature is very calming.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 05/07/2026 15:19

@MewithME Mountain Warehouse currently have the Pro Breeze one for £63.99 with free delivery.

Dozymoo42 · 05/07/2026 15:24

Thanks @CoffeeBeansGalore and @Swanhilde 🥰

Just going to keep resting and hoping for the best, it nice to be able to voice my feelings and not have someone telling me to think positive but just having people who understand the exact feeling is enough

TeaAndStrumpets · 05/07/2026 15:28

Got an ad for MFI. I thought they'd closed down decades ago. Always the go-to for cheap furniture that would never die.

BTW I'm sure my phone or tablet is spying on me. A few weeks ago DH and I were discussing commercial hand towels (we have a very exciting life) and last week I started getting ads for Tork towel dispensers on MN. I hadn't looked at any online, I just noticed the coincidence. Bit weird, it could only connect it to me by eavesdropping. We don't have Alexa or Siri or whatever you call them.

Honestly you are right, it is the only thing you can do at the moment. So difficult to just go with the flow.

martha79 · 05/07/2026 16:38

@TeaAndStrumpets I'm surprised I haven't had an advert for MFI as I've been looking at furniture! I do keep getting ones for very expensive beds though. MFI makes me shudder as my parents bought lots from there in the 80s/ 90s and we had so many trips back for missing parts and screws etc. Having said that, one of the things we got was a cabin bed as I had a very small bedroom, and I loved that. I used to hide in the bit underneath behind the desk 😂

Hugs to you @Dozymoo42 - it is hard. A choir I sang with has a concert today and I'm really missing it, especially as I'm still in the WhatsApp group so have seen all the preparations going on. I would still like to go back, but it's so hard to know if/ when that might be possible.

TeaAndStrumpets · 05/07/2026 17:25

Oh yes @martha79 just like a little Wendy house!

bedfrog · 05/07/2026 20:53

@CoffeeBeansGalore thank you! I don't want cameras as I don't want my house filmed and on the Internet somewhere Confused I am thinking of getting a lock for the back gate though. I'm not sure if he'll do anything but he did tell dh that he would become a noise nuisance if we don't get rid of the pigeons(!). I am sure he is mad. He has painted me as some child-hating witch for not caring about bird poo within a 6 metre radius of his child. People are so suspicious when you don't have children.

Thanks @martha79 it did shake me but I am OK today. Just a bit exasperated that he's making birds of all things a problem with me, and insinuating we are filthy.

Today dh and I went to an open garden event and got to go around a few houses and see their gardens! It was so lovely and I had a fab day.

Back to work tomorrow (phased return) - nervous!!!
@Dozymoo42 don't you rush back to work, you'll know when you are ready and unfortunately you need to listen to your body (so annoying isn't it?)

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend.

Dozymoo42 · 05/07/2026 22:31

thank you just glad I’ve realised before I went back @bedfroggood luck for your phased return I hope it goes well for you 😊

Swanhilde · 06/07/2026 11:33

Stayed up for the football, dozing on the sofa 🥳

Won't be moving far from the lounger today ☀️😎☕

CoffeeBeansGalore · 06/07/2026 11:36

@Swanhilde appparently a good match!

Morning all. Dull & showery here today.

Orangesandlemons77 · 06/07/2026 13:17

Still in bed here, going to have a bath soon then a short walk with DH later. Looks sunny and windy here. It's not as hot as that last heatwave thankfully. If it stays like this that will be fine.

Hoping for a good day for all Flowers
