@TodayIsatrickyone hope everything goes well with minimum stress and you all have a fabulous time.

Another gorgeous sunny day here. Cooler night so slept quite well.

@danglethedingle I was happy with a thick one
🤣🤣🤣

TodayIsatrickyone · 03/07/2026 13:44

Thank you lovely people, havent been out much aside from appointments for last few months so I think I'll definitely be outside my comfort zone a bit at least for the first few days but hoping it will give my confidence a much needed boost.

Thats exactly it @Oioiqueen I dont want to be a burden but DH & DD are both a lot more accepting of my limits than I am i think and just hapoy I can actually make it.

A Thick home is hilarious @danglethedingle I must give off the same force field as your DH, the IT person at work used to say that about me when I had yet another computer/ printer go wrong on me 😂

Morning all, a good nights sleep here and feeling much better today. Visible has given me a 4 for the last few days, thank you very much.

A quiet day planned with my audiobook as we go away on Sunday morning 😁and tomorrow will be doing all the last minute bits! Bit anxious about coping but DH and DD have told me all I need to do is get there and then they can bring me food whilst I rest and recover and chill in the cabin for as long as I need. Think I’m actually a bit excited today! 😁 Been a horrible few months for all 3 of us so hopefully this break will do all of us good.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Friday 😊

I am so excited for your trip! Always nice to be reminded there's a big world out there. Sendng a dove!

@TodayIsatrickyone sounds like a plan to me! Well done your DH and DD, they sound lovely. Hope you have a really brilliant time, you all deserve it.

I've been forced to change internet provider due to the landlines being turned off. I am not happy, but nothing I can do about it. Today was change over day, and of course the app doesn't work.

By default I appear to be the IT department of the household, we think that DH gives out a kind of force field that makes electronic things malfunction. He is not allowed to stand beside me at the self service checkout, it always buggers about when he is there.

Anyhow, I have got 2 tellies, 2 phones, 3 laptops and one kindle swapped over. So feeling quite pleased with myself, I know its a very basic level of computer literacy, but I still find it quite stressful.

The only thing I don't know how to do is the smart meter, so I have emailed Octopus to see if they can advise me.

I never wanted a smart home, I was quite happy with a thick one tbh. At least my kitchen appliances dont need wifi to function.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Amazingly well done! My DH also has a force field around him, it's quite remarkable. Then he gets huffy about it. I am more patient. That being said, he can do things if he really needs to. I was always the one who could set the videoplayer to record in Ye Olden Days, because he wasn't bothered about watching TV anyway. At the moment he is on an editorial committee for a hobby magazine and he's having to upload and edit things before they go to the printer...much cursing goes on!

I have been quite sceptical about the wisdom of getting rid of copper wire. Our internet phone has a mind of its own, and it sometimes just cuts out.

TeaAndStrumpets · 03/07/2026 14:19

We are proceeding ever so slowly with our property sale, looks like we're being slightly gazundered but have to grit our teeth and carry on. It's all very tense.

I am never ever selling a house again. A year of stress now, just want it over.

TodayIsatrickyone · 03/07/2026 15:26

Oh blimey @TeaAndStrumpets that does sound stressful. Hang on in there and hope things can proceed very soon and this stress becomes a distant memory once you’re in your new place. Is it next to/ near one of your DDs or did I dream that?!

TeaAndStrumpets · 03/07/2026 16:07

Thanks yes it will all be over soon I hope! The new house is next to DD1 and is not finished yet, hopefully in by Christmas as everyone says 😃We have accommodation until then but envisage being surrounded by boxes for a few months. Our buyers are moderately OK but I think last minute bargaining is par for the course. Still annoying though, I would never have the cheek.

martha79 · 03/07/2026 16:33

🤣 at your thick home @danglethedingle

Hope you really enjoy the trip @TodayIsatrickyone

Good luck with the house sale @TeaAndStrumpets

Spent today making a huge list for moving, doing a bit more packing and clearing out. And had a big nap. It's grey and warm here, feeling like quite sleepy weather.

TeaAndStrumpets · 04/07/2026 06:01

Morning all, it's feeling warmer today.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!

Swanhilde · 04/07/2026 11:04

I'm having a pottering in the garden day today, being v careful not to do too much 🤞

Kettle's on if anyone wants a brew ☕

martha79 · 04/07/2026 11:38

Strong cup of tea for me please! Ongoing clearing out here - having to force myself to rest, but will curse myself if I overdo it. Got a friend popping round later to pick up a few things she's taking off my hands. I also have a ticket to a little art exhibition just up the road this evening but will have to see how I feel later.

TodayIsatrickyone · 04/07/2026 11:52

Morning all,
Sitting out with a coffee after a shower and doing my hair.
A few last minute bits in the house to sort today but pain isn’t the best today frustratingly especially after feeling brighter yesterday so lots of pacing needed.

Dippy dog is going to MILs tonight so do hope she doesn’t think we've abandoned her! Sure she’ll be fine but I’ll perhaps feel easier once I know she’s settled.

Does anyone use rescue remedy if they feel anxious? It could well be placebo but my friend reminded me recently and it does seem to help me.

Hope you can all manage to pace today and enjoy the weekend in some way. 😊

TodayIsatrickyone · 04/07/2026 11:54

The little art exhibition sounds lovely @martha79 I hope you feel up to it.

TeaAndStrumpets · 04/07/2026 12:06

@Swanhilde peppermint tea please!

Not a bad day for clearing out! Hope you make it to the exhibition, nice to support these things!

It will be wonderful once you relax on holiday, you'll be able to do a name change!

😂😂 very true! I need a more positive one! Better get my thinking cap on 🤔 I think I accidentally posted with that name a few threads back and then was just stuck with it.

Dozymoo42 · 04/07/2026 13:45

Afternoon all 😊

@TodayIsatrickyone Have a lovely holiday you so deserve it!

@TeaAndStrumpets it will be so nice for you to live near your DD fingers crossed 🤞everything goes a little smoother for you with the house sale.

@martha79 hope you feel up to going to your art exhibition
@Swanhilde I will have a tea if the kettle is still on 😊

Need to have a fully restful day had a rough week and was really unwell on Thursday which was bad timing as we had tickets to see Michael Buble last night and it was a bucket list thing. Long story short we made it by me sleeping most of the day Thursday and staying in bed all day yesterday until around 5ish.

DH borrowed a mobility scooter for me as I wouldn’t have been fit to walk and stand for hours and we got there around 8 he was due on stage at 9pm managed to catch the warm up act which was Ronan Keating !
Tickets were bought before I needed accessibility so we was on the main floor of the outdoor bit - I have learned however that people can be sadly rude 😢 5 people fell over me when I was clearly sat there got quite upset and wanted to go home as I felt in everyone’s way but DH went on a scouting mission and found a more open area so I relaxed a bit then.

Anyways paying for it today but I would say was totally worth it 😊

Hi everyone. I was just going about my day and then my neighbour came to my door to complain about me feeding the birds. I told him politely that no I won't be stopping feeding them as per the RSPB recommendations and you can't stop birds pooing outside, and he started shouting and swearing at me. I held it together at the door but afterwards sobbed and was shaking. So now I'm absolutely exhausted and planning on not doing much the rest of the day. I'll probably be watching the lovely sparrow fledglings that have made my garden their home 😌

TodayIsatrickyone · 04/07/2026 13:58

Love it @Dozymoo42
How fabulous you managed the concert with lots of resting and using a scooter. Your DH sounds fabulous to find a quieter more open spot so it was more enjoyable for you. A wonderful memory to look back on 😊

Oh that’s horrible of him and these kind of interactions can really shake you can’t they but well done you for standing your ground politely and firmly. He honestly sounds like a miserable bugger, what a thing to complain about! Watching the birds gives me joy too so you enjoy the sparrows and forget all about him.

TeaAndStrumpets · 04/07/2026 14:03

@Dozymoo42 woe betide anything or anyone below the average person's line of sight. I don't know how they get through life without tripping over bollards and small children! Glad you had a good night out despite all.

@bedfrog just ignore the daft neighbour. We had one once who wanted us to cut some trees down because the birds were sitting there pooing on his car 💩 He actually could have parked his car a few yards over! Years later he got dementia so I wonder if it was an early sign.

Dozymoo42 · 04/07/2026 14:05

@bedfrog ignore the neighbour bloody idiot!

Dozymoo42 · 04/07/2026 14:10

Honestly @TeaAndStrumpets it was a real eye opener, I was always brought up to be kind and help people who were through no fault of their own at a disadvantage to me and in turn I brought my children up in that way. Unfortunately not everyone thinks the same sadly! But yes DH was my hero by hook or by crook he was getting me there he said unless I physically could not get out of the bed. 🥰
