Ps @TodayIsatrickyone I get very dizzy when my neck is stiff, and of course when I'm in a crash my whole body is stiff as a board!

CoffeeBeansGalore · 25/06/2026 17:41

@JewelleryCat I'm not particularly techy but DS (20) keeps me right. Dh is pretty good too.

TeaAndStrumpets · 25/06/2026 17:50

AIBU to think that drying tomatoes on a tea towel should be grounds for divorce? Naming no names.

TeaAndStrumpets · 25/06/2026 17:51

Maybe I'm just too hot.

TodayIsatrickyone · 25/06/2026 17:54

I’m just an overthinking anxious mess who knows logically that stressing over it is making myself worse! As time passes since the stroke, I’m hoping this panic every time I feel very unwell will ease.

Interesting re the dizziness neck stiffness @TeaAndStrumpets as my appointments this week were osteopath and physio who both had me stretching and doing various movements so that combined with the heat may well be the answer but poor DH had me lifting my arms, checking I could smile, was lucid etc so I think we were both in panic mode! Understandable I guess. No dizziness since, just wiped out!

😂😂 I guess at least he’s washed them!!

JewelleryCat · 25/06/2026 17:56

@TodayIsatrickyone shall we swap? I get plum and you get cherry lol

@TeaAndStrumpets you would think I’d understand tech stuff but I really don’t! Yes, it is just freeview. I have heard about freely that connects to wifi but not sure I want that. I have read government want freeview abolished or something from 2034 and everyone to watch via internet. I’ll need to google to see if I’ve got my facts right!

@CoffeeBeansGalore you’re lucky that you have people who understand tech. I need to google if I need to understand something

Sorry I’m not keeping up with the conversation I’m in agony with my woman’s health issue. Sad

Sorry you are feeling ill. Women's issues are never given priority, 💐

Tiredandwired2 · 25/06/2026 19:45

Evening all 👋

Another day of hiding indoors but managed to join a meeting related to my profession which helps me keep in touch with how things currently are before I look to step back into it.

@TodayIsatrickyone Sorry to hear you have felt rubbish. In terms of dizziness. I have long Covid not ME (although I'm not sure what the difference is in my case because I get PEM) but I do get dizzy quite often. Heat makes it much worse. It's my POTs in particular though that makes me dizzy and especially in the heat. Have you ever thought you may have POTs?

TodayIsatrickyone · 25/06/2026 20:22

I have wondered about POTS but not been diagnosed @Tiredandwired2 🤔 I think it’s complicated as 3 different conditions ( ME, heart murmur and now post stroke recovery) and so it really could be related to any of them I guess.
I did just google even though I’ve been trying not to as I don’t want make my anxiety worse but apparently heat intolerance can be a symptom post stroke along with dizziness and can occur alongside fatigue. So actually I’m feeling a lot less anxious now! 😊

Tiredandwired2 · 25/06/2026 20:45

@TodayIsatrickyone That does make it hard to identify what's going on when you have many conditions.

Glad your feeling better though and things make more sense. It's always the not knowing that makes it all worse

martha79 · 25/06/2026 20:52

Sorry you're in so much pain @ValleyClouds

Glad the googling was helpful @TodayIsatrickyone

It's so hot at the back of my house (kitchen/ back garden) that I've had to do things in tiny bursts with rests in-between - had to sit and cook down between emptying and refilling the dishwasher, and bringing the washing in followed by putting the bin out has taken me ages.

I'm in bed now listening to the sound of birdsong and people playing cricket on the sports field across the road, it's quite relaxing.

TeaAndStrumpets · 25/06/2026 21:46

It's an evening for doing nothing! I've been browsing Amazon cards for DGS1 birthday and DD2's anniversary in July. I like to buy well ahead. I found a nice one for DD2, a tenth anniversary one. Then decided to double check and I am a year early😂Lucky it was still in my basket!

It was a lovely wedding and actually the last time I've stayed away from home at a hotel. I couldn't do it now, no stamina. Even then, it took me weeks to recover.

Temp down to 27°, feels so much better.

It has been an odd week for me, I haven't spoken to either DD all week and I really miss it. I've had the odd text from DD1 with medical updates, but she can't speak freely. She says if she sounds at all worried or upset on the phone DGS freaks out. She and I both know once she speaks to me the tears will flow, so I understand!

DD2 is having a lovely beach holiday visiting in laws. She tried to send photos and videos but they wouldn't send for some reason. Home soon so she can send them within England. Best holiday amusement for DGD has been a bubble machine and a fly swatter 😂

CoffeeBeansGalore · 25/06/2026 15:27

@TodayIsatrickyone Take it easy. Dizzy spells are not good.

We have a small counter top icemaker. Once cleaned through it produces ice cubes in 8 minutes. A few on Amazon starting around £50.

@JewelleryCat is it a smart tv? If yes you can use your mobile phone as a hotspot to stabilise the signal.

Omg ... You know all the cool stuff.. literally.. going to Google that now too 😂

Wishing everyone a decent sleep. It's still gross here. DS is downstairs. I was worried about him last night. He won't switch his light off and so can't have a window open because moths get in... Good grief 🙄 anyway, it was so hot in there he nearly fainted when he got out of bed. It's a TED day tomorrow so at least he is off school.

Morning all!

I was shattered yesterday so I had an early night, but had disturbing dreams and got up at 5. I really need a shower! Allegedly it will be raining briefly at 8am....SO tempted to stand outside with a bar of soap!

I've got to go out at 9 to to collect my new specs, then back home to hide from the heat! Forecast 37 later.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Have you thought of fly screens? DD1 could never sleep with the light off until she was an adult, so I sympathise.

MewithME · 26/06/2026 07:18

I hadn't thought of a fly screen....I'll add it to the list, thanks.

I've had enough with this house. Nothing is sorted properly. It's all a bit shambolic. Small houses that you have to work in are very hard to sort out when you're not well enough to declutter or DIY. Getting people in at same time as I am at home would be v difficult. I've given up for now.

My small victory of fitting a new loo seat has even unravelled as it's completely loose again. I blame DS which maybe unfair!

Aneeeway.... Coffee needed! Another day of tortuous heat looms.

Sorry the house is a pain @MewithME

I woke up to a spectacular storm and heavy rain but it's stopped now and doesn't seem to have cooled things down much. Just awaiting a grocery delivery including a re-stock of ice lollies. I've got one music lesson to teach this morning and then planning to do very little as we're getting our hottest temps here later today.

ValleyClouds · 26/06/2026 08:40

Morning. Woke up to a fault on my internet and I’m just sticky all over, so woe is me. Would love a good thunderstorm!!

TeaAndStrumpets · 26/06/2026 08:45

@MewithME it's all very well decluttering but sometimes it can go too far! I had a spree last year and now the weather is blistering I don't have anything matching 😊I am wearing a floaty blouse with a pattern and a cool swishy skirt with a horribly clashing pattern. The plain coloured nice cool trousers that go with the blouse got binned last year. I thought they were a bit shabby but they would have been fine at 37°!

JewelleryCat · 26/06/2026 08:51

I might make @ValleyClouds jealous because I have had a few rumbles of thunder and some heavy rain showers so hopefully it’ll cool down before it gets hot again which I think it’s going to. 29c in my living room right now

TodayIsatrickyone · 26/06/2026 08:59

Had a medicated sleep last night as was so exhausted, it was needed. bedroom was 33 degrees when I went to bed, it’s now down to a much more comfortable 27 after windows open and 2 fans blasting all night. Managed to fill the new cooling fan with ice as My MIL is very kindly storing our freezer contents after it broke so able to at least have ice and store cool mats again! DH ordered a new freezer to come next week so that’s one job ticked off. It’s been on its last legs for months!

Currently enjoying a cuppa in the garden with dippy dog whilst it’s a bit cooler. My weather app claims it’s drizzling right now but must have missed my garden!

Hope those with tortuous heat today can just get through it.

Thats funny @TeaAndStrumpets I was remembering a very loose tunic style top that also went to charity on my last wardrobe de clutter as DD was helping and made me confess I’d barely ever worn it 😀

Oh god yes, fly screens on all our windows and doors, sticky Velcro tape on the window frame holds the mesh on. Absolutely brilliant. And a magnetic closing fly curtain on my back door so the breeze comes in but the buzzers don’t.

I normally go to an aerial class on Friday mornings, but I’ve bailed today. Currently in the shade in the garden (because it’s actually cooler out here than in the house) with an iced coffee.
