DH tried to take DDog out early this morning, but DDog refused to come out of the bedroom because I was still asleep and he was busy guarding mum. He is a German Shepherd, (DDog, not DH) and takes his guarding mum duties very seriously. So now he can't go out until about 9 this evening as its too hot, and he is giving DH a hard stare because in his mind DH has failed to give him his morning walk. I am staying out of this domestic dispute.

Aww I love this. Dogs are amazing aren't they

Tiredandwired2 · 22/06/2026 13:20

Morning everyone. Hope your able to keep cool today. I have kept all windows and blinds closed here. Locked the cat in too, he is not happy,

Im still in an awful mood today. Very low and feeling like life is just too hard but experience tells me it will lift. I'm sure its Immflamation. I seem to get it if I eat gluten, chocolate, any UPF and now because I went without antihistamines for 8 days.

@Oioiqueen that sounds like it was so scary and stressful. Not exactly as if you could just rest it off with all the things you had to consider. I hope you manage to have a restful week and stay cool.

We have a max of 35 here on Wednesday and Thursday but supposed to feel like 40. I'm not leaving the house.

TodayIsatrickyone · 22/06/2026 13:28

Aw I can just imagine The Paddington stare he’s giving out @danglethedingle
My old dog ( retriever/ springer cross) was a bit like that with guarding me. She was always by my side making sure I was okay. Miss her every day!

@TeaAndStrumpets little dog came back, had a quick rest and then found her paddling pool and spent a good while diving in and out and trying to chase the hose pipe 😂 before it got too hot for me! We are both flopped in front of the fan now.
2 weeks to our holiday so yes I'm getting a bit excited! 😁

Aww I’m sorry that you’re feeling so low @Tiredandwired2 Sometimes it’s okay to say life is a bit shit because it can be but as you say, experience tells you this will pass. That’s my motto for bad days! Sending empathy your way.

TeaAndStrumpets · 22/06/2026 13:36

@Tiredandwired2 I put up thermal linings last year on the biggest curtains to get us through the winter with some extra insulation. Of course they are equally good at cutting out the heat! I am so glad of them now.

martha79 · 22/06/2026 15:04

@danglethedingle you made me laugh pointing out that your DH is not a German Shepherd 😂

The cats are just sitting in the hottest parts of the house like idiots, until they reach the point when it's too hot and they come and stare at me as if it's my fault.

Hugs to you @Tiredandwired2

Interesting counselling appointment talking about supressed emotions, especially anger. I feel a bit better after it but also very much feel like having a nap!

Oioiqueen · 22/06/2026 16:08

@TeaAndStrumpets that sounds quite scary for your DD. I'm off work tomorrow so I plan on running round whilst DH is on the school run and then do nothing all day. I'll have just enough energy to then pick the kids up.

@danglethedingle your story telling is hilarious. Thanks for confirming that DH is not a dog and that you are staying out of the household dispute.

@martha79 are you me? I had the exact same conversation with my therapist earlier. It definitely feels better for getting it all out doesn't it

MewithME · 22/06/2026 16:57

Your creature anecdotes are making me laugh. I would love a dog again but the thought of my old dog not eating his food in this weather and watching flies lay eggs on it when it was out for more than a few mins is NOT something I miss 🤢

Today has been a bit better. Had a meeting with big boss and hoping he will help sort things out.

It's clouded over now thankfully so I've got the windows open and a breeze....plus neck fan and face fan .

Going to have a rest now and catch up on your posts.

Is anyone watching football? I missed the opening game because I just couldn't watch that late and I was knackered. Might try and get into it and feel part of the world in a little way. Back in my twenties I was down the pub shouting my head off 🙃

I started a new series having exhausted all the new stuff. I should be a TV critic.... That would be a good job for me 🙈 Has anyone seen Jack Irish with Guy Pearce before? It's quite old but he's really good in it and some nice Ozzie sunshine.

It does. I always feel like I could do with twice as long for my appointments but it's probably plenty to be getting out in one go!

Swanhilde · 22/06/2026 17:27

I am home from work and broken up for the summer 🥳

In bed with tea, smoked cheese and party eggs to celebrate ☕

DD is currently in the air, flying solo for the first time. She's meeting her friend at the other end and I am tracking her on flight radar. Oh to be young and have the energy to explore the world 🌍

I will be eating the other half of my pasty for tea and trying to keep cool 🥵

Take it easy in the heat everyone 💕

Oioiqueen · 22/06/2026 17:36

@martha79 i find if we cover several topics it takes my brain a while to process afterwards. It goes too quick but doesn't exhaust me as a result

TeaAndStrumpets · 22/06/2026 17:44

A refreshing 24° here. I wondered what was coming up in the next few days so I glanced at the Met Office forecast. I thought to myself " 23, 24, 25..... well that doesn't sound too bad "

Yes I was looking at the dates 😊

TodayIsatrickyone · 22/06/2026 17:55

Oh @TeaAndStrumpets that's hilarious 🤣🤣
Im feeling hot and fed up this afternoon as the mind has a to do list but the body isn’t playing ball 🙄
Thank you for making me laugh our loud and also not alone as it sounds like something I’d do! 😂

You're welcome! I'm blaming the heat.

Love this! Something I would do too. That give me the laugh I needed today

I wish that were the temperature!

I'm double my pace points with visible....and I wish I stuck to the BBC app.... met office says 40 degrees Thursday 😭

Oh and I sat on my little perch stool for the kitchen...you know the little fold out ones...and it broke. I fell and hurt myself. Ended up in tears. Work still stressful... trying to work through it. God I must be fat 😭😭😭😭😭

Ouch! You must have some spectacular bruises. You have probably had good use from it and it's time for a nice new one. Maybe a jazzy colour so it's a statement piece as they say in the design magazines!
Down a degree here and feels cooler. I've needed a shawl to keep my arms warm. It's going to be really hellish tomorrow I think, although there is some
dramatic weather about tonight. I'm watching LightningMaps.org which is tracking a very fierce storm. It's moving towards Leicester at the moment.

Oh gosh! That's all you needed. Couldn't write it could you.
Hope your not too hurt. The adrenaline must have spiked!

If it makes you feel any better I used a wheeled backless stool in my kitchen for a while and a certain movement tipped me forward to face plant the floor. I had an audience too, it was at Christmas when family had visited. Stopped using it shortly after that

MewithME · 22/06/2026 21:55

I'm just bruised and it was that shock that tipped me over if you pardon the pun.

On the upside....thanks @CoffeeBeansGalore . My fancy new cooler fan thingy has come. I haven't got ice packs in it but it's very lightweight and easy to move and is doing a nice job this evening.

Also, in a genius move, I found my blackout sheets which I used with sticky pads before I got blinds downstairs. It's silver one side. So I bought suckers with clips and it's staying up so far. So the experiment will begin tomorrow!

@MewithME hope the bruises aren't too bad.
Hope the unit works well for you.

TeaAndStrumpets · 23/06/2026 07:38

Morning all!

Pleasant 17 ° at the moment but 33° this afternoon!

Stay cool, ladies.

martha79 · 23/06/2026 07:57

Oh @MewithME, I hope you're OK. We can compare bruises, I've got a lovely one on my leg and a couple on my arms that I don't even remember bumping.

Actually slept OK last night - I filled an old pillowcase up with ice packs surrounded by tea towels and it stayed pretty cold. Been out to water the garden first thing which was lovely but now dreading the temperature rising. I need to brave a trip up to the attic room to open the windows wide so heat can escape out the top - everything else is shut with the curtains/ blinds closed.

I've got a workshop to run at work this morning but thankfully online and I mainly just have to press some buttons.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 23/06/2026 08:09

Morning all.

MewithME · 23/06/2026 08:15

Morning. Big bruise on hip but nowhere else. I slept pretty well so that's something. Me and my new best friend (swan air cooling fan mejiggery) are looking forward to our day together!

Sounds like a good job @martha79 .... I keep thinking of work I can do from home part time so I can do less work work !

Pester you all later. Hope you are ok.

Morning all, hope you all managed to sleep. My new cooler arrived too which is a small one you just add water or ice too but seems pretty good. I liked it was quiet at night. So had that on one side along with the fan on night mode on the other and a pillow cooling mat so actually all worked rather well and I slept til the dog decided it was time to say good morning!

Hate closing windows during the day but just about to go and close them all to try and keep it cooler. Quite a nice breeze earlier so flung them all open early to let it in!

Sorry about the bruise @MewithME hope you’re not too sore! Enjoy your day with your new bestie! Might carry mine around depending on which room I’m in 😊
