Badenoch is in full supportt of he ban, Farage is scaremongering about digital ID.

Which one is echoed on MN?

The one that makes the most money ?

I know! I know! 🙋‍♀️

The negative one, natch.

I was going to pay tax by a group of voles seen by a pond near me earlier today. Unfortunately they were camera shy and hid.

This is horrific.

Russia was behind arson attacks targeting PM, BBC reveals https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8r2l352z2do

Russia has a long and proud tradition of killing civilians in the UK with no comeback.

Mind you, so have US military personnel. So it's a DEI friendly pursuit.

Moving away, briefly excellent news that they have made an arrest in the attempted murder case from 2017 where someone was pushed into the road.

I am suspecting a very alpha male who has just been caught cheating by a very annoyed partner. The Chris Huhne trap

Notonthestairs · 15/06/2026 15:51

Well someone sat on the information about him for a long time. But I suppose we should be grateful they spoke up.

I assume the CPS went with attempted GBH charge on the basis they were confident it would stick and it has a decent sentencing range including life imprisonment. For attempted murder they’d need to show intent to kill rather than really serious harm.

Notonthestairs · 15/06/2026 15:55

maybe he pushed/thumped someone else and inadvertently brought himself to the attention of police?

I'm not a hang 'em, flog 'em type generally. But I'm underwhelmed with the rather namby-pamby parts of English law that work to make "intent" an almost sacred quality.

The intent follows the action. And - shock horror ! - people who do not intend to kill people don't push them under buses.

That and summary execution for fly tippers and other littering scum.

I'm calling a really pissed off partner ...

Notonthestairs · 15/06/2026 16:16

The CPS will be considering the risk of acquittal. Attempted murder is obviously a higher bar to clear. And presumably the ‘royally connected banker’ is going to be flinging cash at chambers right now.

Afternoon lovely people, delurking (again sorry!).........have been away in a occasionally muddy but mainly dusty field since last week with non-existent signal so haven't seen any news or football! But thought that some of you may appreciate the message from Tom Morello's guitar yesterday afternoon 😊🤘. Won't post a photo as it will automatically be hidden but easy to find on t'internet.
Holding off catching up on real life until later but thanks as always to the educational properties of these threads 💕

Phew, BlueSky has been added to the banned list, children will be safe from the woke lefties.

I think truth social isn't on the list for those mini magas.

Remember that right now, for 80% of the UK, this is how they have just learned that Bluesky exists.

In much the same way it took Roy Hattersley dying for me to realise he was still alive (if that makes sense).

I use Bluesky. It seems to be largely populated by nerds discussing frankly niche PoV. I appreciate that reflects on me. I’d say it’s marginally more lively than the dreaded LinkedIn.

The idea that there are 15 year olds hooked on it is quite funny. Doomscrolling interpretations of planning regulations.

Mens rea is a complicated thing.

I'm not normally a hang em type either but I harbour extreme ill feelings towards flytippers. I actually think there's a strong argument for bringing back stocks for that one type of crime. It wouldhave the additional benefit of providing the UK people a much needed moment of catharsis and unity.
I know, why we cant but 😒

Quite a few anti- Labour posters on MN believed it. There are a couple of them in particular who are absolutely obsessed with the theory that Starmer is in the closet.

Good typo!

Lots of news to catch up on.
Russia was behind arson attacks targeting PM - . (Tommy Robinson is obviously a Russian asset)
Social media ban - good job Blue Sky has been included (all those bloody lefties and cat photos)
Arrest over push of woman into bus's path in 2017 - Good job too.
Roger Cook and Roy Hattersley have died. - RIP. I have fond memories of Roy Hattersley. (they still have the spitting image puppet of him at the carton museum)

It's a weird thing to say, but punching someone, is just one act against one person.

But littering is one act against a community. With zero regard for the safety and well being of children, the elderly, the infirm - or your own society. It's an impersonal crime and in terms of a community one of the worst things you can do.

And while I am not a fan of draconian punishments, people manage not to litter for very long in Singapore ...

I am aware I may be an outlier on this.

Serious question. Do under 16s read X or Bluesky?

I wouldn't have thought anyone under 16 would do either. Or anyone above that age. Certainly not Face book

The under 16s, trend?, towards Tilk tolk and you tube.
