I very much enjoyed reading this Politics Home interview with Hezza. Much to agree with and to disagree with but it's refreshing to see this lack of hyperbole after seeing Kemi's tasteless sniping, today.

UK inflation in May stayed the same, the expected rise failed to materialise.

Energy prices are falling which means the inflation will peak much lower than expected later this year

I am sure a downside will be found, Duncin!

The Trump factor?

Al Carns 'leadership bid' sounds like something from LotR

Chiselled out of mines, hammered out of shipyards, forged in factories.

The proliferation of YouTube videos about plug in ("balcony") solar popping up around the UK may be having an impact.

DB already has 20kW of solar (5 acres in Tennessee make that a no brainer) with plans to get to 60kW next year when he starts running his own IT from home. He didn't seem too worried that renewables upset Trump a lot.

Indeed, if you judge Trump by outcomes rather than rhetoric, he has probably done more for global renewables than any other US president. Someone should give him a prize.

I liked it. Perhaps because as a product of the 1950s it reminded me of the pre sound bite age. I also liked his reminder of what a government can accomplish in times of severe economic difficulty. He sounded statesmanlike to me.

Was he eating Hovis, washed down with Yorkshire tea?

Plug-in solar panels to go on sale in UK after it passed safety checks

About time, given there are over 1mn kits already on sale in Germany

There, they sell for between £200 and £2,000, deliver 5-25% of a homes energy needs, typical payback between 2 & 6 years

It's all a bit male centric. Mission Impossible.

E2A: remember: as the cost per kWh of electricity rises, these things "make" more money for you, by saving that amount from being billed.

Humungous queue for border control leaving Helsinki. I've never had more than a handful of people in front of me before. Thanks Brexit.

"Claire Hanna, the SDLP leader, says loyalist paramilitaries were involved in the rioting in Belfast last week. They organised a pogrom, she says. She asks if the government will review how the Northern Ireland executive is handling this problem.

Lammy says what happened in Belfast was racism. He goes on:

We must never go back to 1950s Britain, where my father arrived to signs saying, ‘No blacks, no dogs, no Irish.’

We are focused on bringing people together and that includes providing a further £24m to help tackle paramilitarism and to tackle those inciting hatred online.

And our social cohesion plan is about bringing our communities together."

'Lammy tells Tory deputy chair Matt Vickers he should apologise for joking on TV about arson attack on PM's home
Matt Vickers (Con) asked Lammy about youth unemployment. What was to blame? Was it business rates going up, the jobs tax, the Employment Rights Act, or all of the above?

In response, Lammy condemned Vickers, a deputy chair of the Conservative party, for remarks he made about Keir Starmer in a TV interview yesterday.

Lammy said:

[In the interview] he’s laughing and joking about the arson attack on the prime minister’s home … Not only that, he joined with promoting conspiracies about the attack and laughed along to demeaning homophobic remarks. He should be ashamed of himself. My advice to him is to grow up, apologise and do considerably better."'

Long post and taken from Sparrow's UK Politics. Obviously the PM and Shadow leader were not in PMQs today.

The queue entering Rome Ciampino wasn't moving which didn't effect myself or my sister as we have Irish passports - except dsis suitcase took ages to arrive because no one was there to pick the other suitcases up. They were all stuck in the queue.

Leaving via Catania in Sicily was a breeze - no queues at all for anyone.

I was listening / singing along very loudly and badly to 'Zombie' earlier. The relevance of that song has not diminished.

I'll belt it out badly with you. Love that song and as you say still relevant
