A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

According to SM, McS never really went away, he was on the end of a phone providing 24/7 support for the malignant and woefully inadequate Starmer.

I bet

I see there’s a thread about an anti-fascist demo in Brighton.

We’re back in the 1980s. The left has failed as a mainstream force so it has to pretend it’s relevant by turning out to oppose a few knuckle-draggers in baseball caps.

The particularly amusing thing about that thread is that the committed anti-fascist OP couldn’t even spell ‘fascist’ right in the thread title.

The activist left. What a complete joke they are.

justasking111 · 14/06/2026 16:22

There was a teeny tiny protest today outside our council offices. Someone said why on a Sunday when everywhere is closed and town is deserted.

@Pacificsunshine thank you. I've been wanting something to be done about procurement since David Cameron. Honestly, one of the reasons I voted for him was that he said in one of the debates that he would cut down on the administrative waste. And here we are. Honestly, if the conservatives don't want to do it... but that was in 2008 or 2009 I guess - I hadn't realised that there were so many people on the gravy train that nobody would want to stop it.

Rumours abound that Starmer is looking for a cut-off time for teens to be able to access social media. think that's for 16 and 17-year-olds. So they can work after 8:30 pm but they can't go on social media websites.

I can only think that this is part of getting a younger generation to comply with a whole bunch of stupid rules. I don't think it will work though. At least not with this idea.

Maybe he's been floated to see how the public responds to it.

Pacificsunshine · 14/06/2026 19:59

It doesn’t make sense to let them vote, but not look at social media.

Nuthatch26 · 14/06/2026 20:19

@NoWordForFluffy No I didn't take the doggos today, just me and DD. My dogs and friendly deer don't mix.
Twas lovely just the two of us. DD has been unwell recently and it did her the world of good.

She's making me go to a cat cafe tomorrow. I didn't even know they existed. I'll feel like I'm on enemy turf. 🤣🤣

Hope you had a lovely time watching the flamingos.

Cat cafe? I'm intrigued. Looking forward to your match report.😉

Ikr, who knew! Never heard of them in the UK before. It was DD's choice. You pay per hour, refillable drinks and squillions of cats apparently.
There are a few main coons (sp?) there so I'll stick with them if they'll have me. I like your Rodney anyway.
I reckon main coons would vote tory. 😂

We went to a cat cafe a few weeks ago. The premise is you go in and have a nice drink and maybe a bit of cake while cats mingle around you. You can go to them or let them come to you. I think ours charged £8 per person for a 1 hour slot plus drinks/cake.

All of the cats at this cafe were rescues from Dubai and were up for Rehoming. The cafe has rehomed about 400 cats since they opened in 2022.

Nuthatch26 · 14/06/2026 21:43

Thanks @CaveMum

The one we're going to is £18 each for an hour, with drinks included. No idea if the cats are rescues, but DD will want one if they are up for re-homing!

Not long til bollard day. I’ve had too much exposure to Labour today. Just bonkers.

SapphireCasino · 14/06/2026 21:53

I always thought I go to a cat café, but the nearest one is a long trek away

Well, it is for me who hates getting on public transport and has to do it anyway

I was a bit concerned when I heard about them, but I talked to a colleague from Japan and she thinks it's brilliant and that they absolutely love the company.

I find it a bit strange that you're supposed to eat your cake with cats around though

I'd pay just to go and meet the cats 🥰

They do warn you to watch your food, but they don’t do lunch or anything like that.

Maine Coons are definitely conservative in both senses of the word (absolute clowns, mind you, but intelligent, affectionate, and soft as butter). You're never alone with a Coonie, they're always there "helping" with whatever you're doing.

Rodders wouldn't wipe his huge paws on Starmer.😙

We're not eating, just drinks. DD says they do afternoon teas and birthday parties.

Still the usual which is odd given the state of their leader and party.

Watched an amazing movie last night. Richard Jewell. I’d not heard of it but stumbled on it on Netflix. Omg the emotion of it.

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 15/06/2026 08:06

Just heard on the radios that Sadiq Khan has announced he will spend £7 million to promote London.

This Would be so much better spent on cleaning up the dump that it’s become.

NoWordForFluffy · 15/06/2026 08:25

Promote London to whom? Who isn't aware of our capital city? Seems like a waste of money really.

Promotional campaigns for major cities are always a waste of money. I suppose it’s a bit different for sunny holiday destinations, like Cyprus or Florida, because it might affect a summer holiday decision. But London, Paris, Rome or Berlin would be throwing money away by showing ads full of smiley people with Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum etc behind them.

It’s a mayoral vanity project.

CaveMum · 15/06/2026 08:49

I know we’re not officially supposed to talk too much about cats on this thread (😜) but <whispers> we’re getting kittens next month. We lost our darling girl aged 19 back in January so now feels like a good time.

On regular matters, James Cleverly on TRIP Leading today is worth a listen.
