Just for fun so no sarcasm or nastiness please .
My friend and I went to see a West End musical this week . I was really looking forward to it . Great reviews . Celebrity cameos . Camp and fun . Seemed right up our street .
We both hated it . We were turning to each other with puzzled looks and raised eyebrows (we've known each other forever and have very similar tastes so no words needed) .
The audience seemed off their tits to be honest . Screeching at every unsubtle innuendo . Shouting responses to the actors . It was like a really bad hen do .
We left at the interval .
My point is that everyone else seemed to be having a great time . The staff who opened the doors to allow us to leave at the interval were incredulous . I quote : "Are you not enjoying it ?!"
Well no , we weren't . We thought it was shit .
This is a show that is up for lots of awards and has had so many positive reviews .
Have you ever hated something that everyone else seemed to love ?

Sale of the condenser/vented ones will be outlawed in January next year. I think there has been talk about hoovers before? Didn't the EU try to ban more high-powered ones? For some reason the govt doesn't like us using too much electricity so God knows what is in Miliband's sights.

Hmmm what reason could that be?

Bubble tea
Pistachio flavoured stuff
Mamma Mia

Book of Mormon

Just didn't get it. I usually laugh at anything but this was a painful couple of hours. I actually got quite scared that so many people were laughing their heads off - like being in a different universe.

It’s satire.

AlternateLook · 06/06/2026 14:47

Fish and any seafood. Never eaten any in my life, and I know I never will.

Bubble tea is for kiddos (occasionally)

Pistachio flavour : doesn't taste of pistachio any more. And the flooding of the market with inferior Californian pistachio flavourings to destabilise the pistachio trade was a precursor to the Iran war. They're doing that now again with cocoa/ chocolate

I feel like more people hate mama Mia than like it. (And the former people are correct)

Nothing in particular. I'm just mindful that he's not squeaky clean like he's portrayed. In all fairness to him, he did own it and stepped away for a while, but only after it was uncovered, though.

Edited

I don’t think he’s squeaky clean. He’s a middle aged man now, not an innocent voice of an Angel school boy . There was a lot of publicity about it at the time. He didn’t make excuses. He was stupid, but owned up to it , has learnt from it. He’s still a great personality and a gifted singer .

They work well for tall, slim people. At least I only get compliments.

I agree.....but then most fashions do....

Yetanotherone12 · 06/06/2026 15:29

Skinny jeans. Hate them. Don’t like how they look on other people either.

high waisted anything.

anything described as “pampering”. No, having my nails/hair/bits waxed is not a “treat”. I don’t want to, and making it sound like a process women actually want and enjoy is ridiculous.

Was gonna propose marriage but I disagree with upgrades for long haul. This might prevent us walking not running off into the sunset

I'll go cattle class short haul with you though.

I've never thought he's a "great personality". Whenever I've seen him on tv he's as dull as ditchwater. I do think it's hard to prove yourself as an adult when you've been a child star, especially when you still look 15 but you're in your 50s!

sugarandcyanide · 06/06/2026 19:05

Holidays that involve sitting on a beach or by a pool and nothing else. I'd go out of my mind with boredom!

He looks his age! He did other things, not relied on his fame as a schoolboy- DJ, TV presenter, host, while continuing to sing. He’s more than proved himself.

TheWytch · 06/06/2026 19:44

Monty Python

A friend made a bet with me that I couldn't sit through every film and not laugh at least once.

I won easily

HeddaGarbled · 06/06/2026 19:53

And while we’re on the subject of comedy, that supposedly classic Two Ronnies’ four candles sketch is stupidly unfunny.

Darklane · 06/06/2026 19:56

Beach holidays abroad.
Much prefer Scotland in the campervan with my dogs.

I don't think he looks his age at all. And all of those things he's very mediocre at, especially tv presenter on breakfast TV that he was so bad at he makes Lorraine look good! He's an ok singer I suppose

AlternateLook · 06/06/2026 20:15

Monty Python was spectacularly unfunny for me. University educated smart arses just indulging themselves, and being indulged by the BBC.

Monty Python for me was completely hit or miss.

Some of it was brilliant, Life of Brian was incredible but the Meaning of Life was crap. Same with the series, some brilliant sketches and some utter bilge. The camp parade ground always makes me laugh!
