Have you ever hated something that seems very popular with everyone else ?

Just for fun so no sarcasm or nastiness please .
My friend and I went to see a West End musical this week . I was really looking forward to it . Great reviews . Celebrity cameos . Camp and fun . Seemed right up our street .
We both hated it . We were turning to each other with puzzled looks and raised eyebrows (we've known each other forever and have very similar tastes so no words needed) .
The audience seemed off their tits to be honest . Screeching at every unsubtle innuendo . Shouting responses to the actors . It was like a really bad hen do .
We left at the interval .
My point is that everyone else seemed to be having a great time . The staff who opened the doors to allow us to leave at the interval were incredulous . I quote : "Are you not enjoying it ?!"
Well no , we weren't . We thought it was shit .
This is a show that is up for lots of awards and has had so many positive reviews .
Have you ever hated something that everyone else seemed to love ?

Yeah, I only have sex because it's important to my husband (don't worry there is no coercion or sex pestering going on on). If he was content with a bit of cuddling that would suit me just fine.

If I was ever to find myself single, I don't think I could be bothered with another relationship. I just worry that I'd be lonely as I'm not very good at making friends.

I am fiercely independent, enjoy my own company but regular passionate sex and intimacy is very much on my "requirements" list.

Nope, team celibate-by-choice here too

ETA also too old to care. When menopause decimated my libido (which wasnt exactly sky high in the first place) it bothered me because I ended up ending my relationship because of it. Ex thought that constant pestering would help.....so I dumped him. But now I see my self remaining cheerfully single for the rest of my life!

Edited

Aw but didn't you enjoy each other's company and other kinds of intimacy? cuddling? Did it have to end over this?

Yes because cuddling would inevitably end with him putting his hand up my top or trying to "get [me] in the mood", we could never just snuggle up without him trying it on. I ended up having sex a few times that I really didnt want, and I am sure he knew I didnt want it but did it anyway. Then I suffered a horrible injury in my chest area, his reaction was "Oh you should send me a photo 😉" Instant ick. No coming back after that.

I've been to Burnley once for a Northern soul all niter on our walk back to the station at 8am we genuinely thought the place was derelict .This would have been mid 80s.

You were right to not return, it's probably the best decision of your life.

Dungarees. Oh, in a similar vein jumpsuits. I fail to understand why anyone would want to sit on a public loo, more than half naked on a cold winter’s day.

I would never wear a jump suit for this reason, I dont want to strip off to pee.

Oh I'm sorry to read that 💐
It sounds like your needs were totally sidelined and he sounds like a selfish pig.
Sending you a big hug 🫂 (and no 'funny business'!)

Bioche buns.

I hope whoever first stuck a savory item in sugar always has a hot pillow.

If I wanted to eat sweet bread I'd buy an iced finger.

I strongly dislike emails that start with the words "Good morning (insert name)" and "Good Afternoon (insert name)". I know I'm being daft but I always feel as if I'm about to receive a telling off. For some reason it really irritates me and to me feels fake and pompous.
Also hate lots of exclamation marks as in eg "You forgot to do xyz !!!!!" and the writer is conveying their annoyance at your stupidity.
Finally the usage of KR at the end of a letter instead of Kind Regards. Just awful.

cornflakecrunchie · 04/06/2026 19:27

@AmadeustheAlpaca I hate emails OR any business staff using my Christian name unless invited to.
Haven't had a 'KR' but wouldn't be impressed..

Interesting. I’m the opposite. I always use just my first name wherever possible.

Ooo.....never seen KT at the end of letters, but no doubt I will now. Yeah that would annoy me too!
