Henry Nowak

Heard of him? Probably not, because there seems to be an almost complete news blackout about him. Basically the police handcuffed him and let him bleed out because they thought he may have said something racist - he didn't, it was a lie told by his murderer. Henry was 18.

I didn’t dare mention George Floyd as I didn’t want a kicking at the start of the thread. Henry was a young university student and apparently very well thought of, not a drug addicted gang member yet still the world wide horror of his killing (deservedly) and a headline on the BBC here for Henry?

Poor bloke stabbed more than 15 times then not helped and arrested instead. Then died. Stabber the murderer - then what are the police - assistance to murder? Who knows.

I guess it could come down to an autopsy - could he have lived if they'd tried to save his life following the stabbing?

Either way - it stinks.

No, the law doesn’t work in that way.

They weren’t an accessory to the crime because the crime had already happened by the time they arrived.

It’s professional incompetence. The only time you really get manslaughter in this type of scenario is if (eg) a doctor’s care for their patient was so woefully inept it caused their death.

Btw. I am not a police hater. They mostly do an amazing job. And the way they responded was probably and instruction from above.

Ok

I think the media have definitely been told to calm it down when reporting it , when you think of when George Floyd died it was mass reporting, and it wasn’t even in this country yet not a word from our PM about poor Henry ,… I hope it haunts the police officers for the rest of their lives

I’m not casting a value judgement either just giving what I believe to be the legal basis

rolloverbeethoven · 30/05/2026 17:43

Henry was killed in December. I don't know about any PPS, but I only heard about it this week.

The police killed GF.
The police in this case were not the killers.

Sure, and there aare other similarities and differences too, but the pp was claiming that the ONLY parallel was that they were men who were killed in the street, which is patently not true.

Both said “ I can’t breathe “ and yet they still handcuffed him, and also he was supposed to have a knife wound on his face ..

@AndyBurnhamForPM I don't think your posts are furthering the cause your supporting ! Just an observation

Op I only heard of his name from here.

Same for me. It's really not been 'all over the news'.

There is a good piece in, of all places, the Daily Mail today. An excellent article from Merci Meroki. Amongst other things, she points out that Starmer and Rayner knelt in support when George Floyd was killed, but they were silent when Henry was attacked.

Should they kneel for every person who is murdered? Have you complained that they didn't kneel for Ellis Rocks, for example, who died in police custody?

What happened to Henry Nowak is appalling and police heads should most definitely roll. But as terrible as their actions were, the police didn't murder him.

Barleypilaf · 30/05/2026 18:32

I was aware of this as one of my DC is at the university and was really surprised that there was so little publicity of a student being stabbed on the way home from a night out. Learning the true details is horrifying and given the horror, it should be top of the BBC and a national enquiry.

Instead, it does look like it has been kept muted for community cohesion. I can see that the media don’t want to inflame the country but it does feel like the story has been deliberately played down.

Theunamedcat · 30/05/2026 18:36

Groobey · 30/05/2026 15:42

Please explain how this is two tier policing, when the police are being investigated.

I guess you can’t go on about two tier justice for this one so you claim policing instead.

They are investigating themselves how is that fair

Exactly NOW its on the news NOW people are hearing about it then we heard nothing until random tiktok took off

PickledMuffin · 30/05/2026 18:39

Yes i heard, what happened was awful. RIP Henry.

newfriend05 · 30/05/2026 18:40

I’ve heard the women police officers have all resigned before the court case, so all of them have got off with it really… What actions can the police force take on them now?

Theunamedcat · 30/05/2026 18:40

AndyBurnhamForPM · 30/05/2026 16:16

It was a terrible case and the police made some awful mistakes.

BUT we don't know whether he did or didn't racially abuse the killer.

We just know there was no evidence that he did - I understand the police were sufficiently concerned that he was racist that they looked through his phone for any evidence of racism.

If he had been racist then there could be a case of self defence.

But we will never know the truth.

None of this excuses the police for appalling incompetence.

The phone that was in the possession of his killer and had recorded the incident

Surely in a case like this you do what is right- attend to an injured person- not stick to a list. I heard on the radio today that the knife wounds were deep and not immediately obvious, but another said he was covered in blood - What are the facts? Those involved will have to live with the knowledge that an innocent, dying boy was not comforted in his final moments.

JacknDiane · 30/05/2026 18:46

Apparently the police officers who arrested him didn't realise he'd been stabbed...multiple times and was bleeding to death.
This case is absolutely heartbreaking.
That poor boy, and his family knowing what happened to him.
I hope they lock the killer up and sack the police involved.

Theunamedcat · 30/05/2026 18:40

If someone makes a racist remark to you, you would not be justified in attacking him, so that can’t be used as an excuse!

FrizzyFrizbee · 30/05/2026 17:06

Utterly ridiculous. Digwa also denied stabbing Novak in the first place.

You say: “BUT we don't know whether he did or didn't racially abuse the killer.”

😡😡😡😡🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

Wow! Just WOW!

Have you ANY idea how thoroughly warped, disgusting, disingenuous and dishonest your post comes across, when a lad has been brutally stabbed multiple times, to his tragic death by a man who ‘just happened’ to be carrying a 21 inch blade?

I could go on. I suggest you go and have several strong words with yourself, and maybe you should be reported to Prevent with attitudes like yours.

That’s the so-called ‘be-kind’ left for you. Oh, and according to several posts on this thread, Henry Novak was murdered in December. If it’s been all over the news, then why have I only just read about it a couple of days ago?

Be kind left my arse.

This is just someone with no fucking sense or decency.

Nothing to do with the left ffs
