Henry Nowak

Heard of him? Probably not, because there seems to be an almost complete news blackout about him. Basically the police handcuffed him and let him bleed out because they thought he may have said something racist - he didn't, it was a lie told by his murderer. Henry was 18.

I hope the entire Digwa family get imprisoned for a very long time and then deported. I was listening to Henry Nowak's father giving his dignified statement and then reading the transcript of the phone call made to the police. It's quite a contrast. Exact quote:-

“We’ve just got attacked racially by some white person. He’s physically attacked my brother, we’re Sikhs, we wear a turban and he’s just attacked my brother. We’re restraining him right now because he’s just attacked my brother and took my brother’s turban off. He also said, he’s verbally attacked my brother racially. I’m not having this as a regular occurrence, I live here, I’m not having this a regular occurrence. He ain’t fighting people, he’s racially attacking people, that’s what he’s doing. Nah, he sees some brown people, that’s what it was.”

That transcript is horrific lies - and demonstrates the brother knew exactly which police buttons to press to get the response he wanted. He knew how reverse racism biased they are. Because of that call - which the police did not question - here we are. What a lying piece of shit. I hope he also goes to prison for a long time. I don't know if they can be deported - aren't they 'British'? If they can be deported - remove all of their passports.

Imagine if we didn't have HN's phone content - we'd all believe their shit. Not that it would help HN now.

I'm glad this man has posted this. It gives me a bit of hope.

Yes. It is they that will suffer more now, sadly.

Fck off Digwa family, you've shown your true colours. We all see you.

The mother isn't British so I'm praying she gets deported after serving a lengthy prison sentence here.

I’ve followed this guy on X for a long time. He’s a genuine, decent person and he spoke up and condemned it from the start.

Starmer issued a statement.

https://nitter.net/Keir_Starmer/status/2061506435859845244#m

There might be a formal statement in the commons later also.

Zack Polanski was fairly quick to condemn the cops kicking the attacker in golders green but not seen any statement from him yet on this. This just shows how terminally tribal the online political culture is. The go to influencers that a lot of people would look to on this are sort of trying to find appropriate things to say.

Owen Jones has posted a #BeKind statement from Nowaks family

https://nitter.net/owenjonesjourno/status/2061752588626764167#m

Or ignoring it. I understand why they'd do that. It's not comfortable to their narrative (society is prejudiced. We are the oppressed ones here. This doesn't fit our worldview. No that can't be) But in the meantime the silence is deafening

Owen Jones is an odious hypocritical little prick. No interest in what he says.

eta - Thank you for the other info - much appreciated

Yes he is a great example of an immigrant who loves this country, and is grateful for its sanctuary. He wears a small badge of a kirpan on a turban, there’s no need to carry a literal knife.

Northermcharn · Today 12:39

Fixydodah · Today 12:23

Unfortunately this issue is too important not to be discussed, whatever the Nowak family has said. It has repercussions for wider society and highlights what a mess this country is in.

Agreed

Yes. The Sikh community (and others because they will also suffer more now) must be so upset / angry that the Digwa family have just done this.

Forrdige · Today 12:42

Agreed

Yes I agree too.

The family obviously want to be dignified and don’t want to tarnish their son’s memory (especially because of the previous racism lies, they need to be careful not to give air to the idiots who still believe it)… but we need to have conversations. This should have never happened

Of course it has to be discussed. But it can and should be done without resorting to fanning the games of hate and division. Look at how many posts have had to be deleted on this thread alone.

PinkTonic · Today 12:45

JaneFondue · Today 10:20

We shd probably stop arguing over the judgement. We are not going to agree.

The Sikh community has said that large knives should be outlawed and only small 3 inch blades allowed. Carrying a 21 inch blade cannot be defended. Some have suggested wooden or plastic blades which seems a good compromise that many are already using.

I think you’re mixing up inches and centimetres

Barbadossunset · Today 12:45

Fixydodah · Today 10:25
Why is carrying a blade to work a thing? This is the murderer at work (image lifted from X), just a normal day, with my dagger. It’s an accountancy firm. There is absolutely no reason to be wearing that

I guess if anyone had complained he’d have made a complaint to HR that a colleague had been racist.

mandajane81 · Today 12:49

JuliaBraverman · 30/05/2026 22:24

Well don’t try and discuss it on this thread…. It won’t be well received. You may or may not be called a racist.

I honestly dont get what u mean. I might be accused of being a racist because I am actually shocked that people didn't know about this case. Plus I couldn't give a crap if people who I dont know accuse me of being a racist, with the make up of my family past and present and my friends I would just laugh.

ginasevern · Today 12:52

@Lalgarh "Zack Polanski was fairly quick to condemn the cops kicking the attacker in golders green but not seen any statement from him yet on this."

Because police misconduct only counts when it affects Muslims or has tenuous links to Palestine. Extra points if it involves "evil" Jews too.

I took his father’s statement to mean that we should not make this about Sikhs, many of whom came to Britain 70 years ago and who are generally law abiding citizens.

Yep

'I guess if anyone had complained [about his dagger at work for religious reasons] he’d have made a complaint to HR that a colleague had been racist'.

A lot of crimes like this don't make the news they happen all the time, to people of all ethnicities and backgrounds. Someone I know works in transcribing police recordings and some of the stuff they've heard is absolutely vile but it never gets published because there's so much of it. The reason that this one is now in the news is because he's been convicted and as part of the trial he tried to deceive by lying about what provoked the attack. It was a sickening act of murder and it's been headline news.

It’s largely made the news due to the police handcuffing him as he took his last breath. He literally told them he couldn’t breathe and he’d been stabbed several times but they didn’t listen. I’m sure that’s not standard procedure (I hope it’s not anyway)

Bertiebiscuit · Today 13:52

augustusglupe · Today 11:51

Absolutely. I just wasn’t aware that anyone, inc for religious beliefs, was allowed to carry an offensive weapon.

The very epitome of two tier policing - a male sikh can carry a knife - but no one else.

Scots people are. In certain cases.

Bertiebiscuit · Today 13:56

A male sikh can legally carry a knife - because "religion" yet i, a woman, who has been assaulted in public by a man, and suffered misogynist verbal abuse scores of times on public transport, am not allowed to carry mace or pepper spray, or any potential weapon despite the "epidemic of male violence against wonen" openly admitted by the constabulary. How is that NOT two tier policing?

Baptised Sikh women can carry kirpans.

You are right about this, I think there are just too many Brits living in comfortable bubbles and not near where these issues are bigger. They might drive through them once in a while and say 'oh how quaint, a religious community' then drive back to their leafy suburb where everyone is employed and think nothing more.

I live in SE London. Hardly a leafy suburb.
The violence here is not perpetuated by the Sikhs or any " religious" people, whatever those are.
