Henry Nowak

Heard of him? Probably not, because there seems to be an almost complete news blackout about him. Basically the police handcuffed him and let him bleed out because they thought he may have said something racist - he didn't, it was a lie told by his murderer. Henry was 18.

What happened to Henry Nowak is truly shocking. Firstly the nature of the attack where he was just innocently walking home. Secondly his appalling treatment by the police.

Unfortunately certain groups are jumping on his case just to promote their own unpleasant views in completely unrelated circumstances. Where I live, a group of Union Jack wearing bigots held a "vigil" for Henry outside a local hotel that houses asylum seekers. This is a location with no connection to either Henry or the terrible crime.

SocialistMummy · 01/06/2026 22:42

I simply don't understand how I've never heard of this story until now. It seems absolutely massive to me.

Even in the BBC News at Ten, it started with this as the lead story - but after introducing the stories the lead story turned out to be something about Mandelson instead, which they devoted several minutes to and this had all of a sudden been relegated to story no. 2. I've never seen that happen before.

The top story on the BBC News website is Mandelson.

I am EXTREMELY upset with what I've just watched on the bodycam footage and don't know what to think. Why hasn't this story been covered until now? Have those police officers carried on working?

What are you saying? What has Nowak got to do with far right bigots???

Someone upthread said two of the police officers have resigned, but I can't find anything to confirm.

The sad fact is the police will probably get away with this, as they so often do when there is a death in custody.

What has happened to the negligent plod? Still on the beat? Suspended? Facing disciplinary action? Absolutely not a fan of Elon Musk but hopefully he keeps this in the news because nobody else in this country seems to care very much.

On the Times website, the article about Digwa being found guilty is currently underneath a story about someone being fined for making a sexist remark at the French Open, and a story about "Maths offering an answer to the eternal holiday dilemma of deciding where to eat".

What has Elon Musk got to do with this?

I'm not making that up about the Times website, btw. I know it's hard to believe.

Thankfully they’ve mostly skulked away! It is clear from this thread alone (never mind social media) just how many people are outraged by this incident and the state of the country generally.

The ‘far right’ (ie., most normal/sensible/rational people) have fucking had enough. I know I have.

Me too

The fact that the murderer is Sikh, is neither her nor there for me, I am not aware of that community being law breakers in the main. It’s the police and government response to a monumental cock up where the rights of BAME are placed above the victim, correct policing, training, and reporting. The words two tier policing has been doing the rounds the last few years. This tragic case is indisputable evidence of that. I am not sure what the agenda is. Do they downplay the crimes of BAME people because they fear civil unrest? It is the fact that the establishment is complicit in covering up will be the cause of civil unrest.

Well it kind of is as the murderer was carry 2 religious Sikh swords which he used to commit the murder of Henry

italianlondongirl · 01/06/2026 22:51

The video is so distressing. That poor poor boy.

It appeared that Henry was very much alive when the police arrived. WHY was an ambulance not called. Who were the other people standing around?

That's normal. It's what usually happens in murder cases. It is reported in the local news at the time, then it may, or may not, feature in the national news when it comes to trial.

It is 100% not normal in a case such as this - where a man killed an innocent man in a racist attack, and the police handcuffed and arrested the innocent man whilst he was dying*, because they believed what the stabbing murderer said had happened.

*Whilst he was telling them he'd been stabbed and couldn't breathe, and they didn't believe him

Jinglejangle2525 · 01/06/2026 22:52

I’ve just watched the body cam footage and it’s absolutely disgusting I’ve got tears in my eyes and feel absolutely sick to the stomach, anyone who watches that be warned it’s traumatic!!!!!! How the police cuffed him when he’s on the floor saying he’s been stabbed and can’t breath is appalling, moving him around and dragging him - what the actual…..

Well they can’t get away with it because they didn’t fulfill the requirements of their job thus allowing a young man, Henry, to die.

Very Distressing - that poor boy. The policeman who says “don’t think you have mate” when he said he’s been stabbed, he’s literally on the floor in agony!!!!!!

@rolloverbeethoven you still haven't clarified what your usual news source is that didn't report this is, please can you let us know? I agree this is a very sad and awful case but it has been very widely reported and a delay in reporting is entirely standard given the need to investigate fully.

We need to see what Diversity, Equality and Inclusion training those officers had had.

Had they been told to behave the way they did in the footage? If not, should those officers be arrested?

Does it matter!!!!!!

Typperpine · 01/06/2026 22:55

Poor Henry. That footage is utterly horrific. The police should be utterly ashamed of themselves and go to prison for what they did.

I'm livid at what is happening to this country. Nothing seems more important than not being racist. Labour need to be out. This country needs a massive fucking sort out. No wonder people are angry. I'm raging.

Nothing. There is an investigation but at the present time the officers involved are just “witnesses”.
Read into that what you will.
