Henry Nowak

Heard of him? Probably not, because there seems to be an almost complete news blackout about him. Basically the police handcuffed him and let him bleed out because they thought he may have said something racist - he didn't, it was a lie told by his murderer. Henry was 18.

It's beyond horrific. I hope the family agreed to the footage being released.

JaneFondue · 01/06/2026 21:58

Read it. I am surrounded by knife crime and shoplifting here in SE London.
None of it is being carried out by turbaned men with kirpans.

Talk about a straw man.

Who is actually doing it?

Ipsevenenabibas · 01/06/2026 22:13

I can't watch all of it. It confirms what I thought. The police have no excuses. I can't find the words. I am beyond appalled. I am beyond outraged. RIP Henry Nowak.

TokyoSushi · 01/06/2026 22:13

I’ve somehow only just heard about this and seen the body cam footage on the news, my goodness, how absolutely horrific.

JuliaBraverman · 01/06/2026 22:13

Have Starmer, Mahmood or any of the cabinet commented? Seeing as they took the knee for George Floyd, a career criminal?

JaneFondue · 01/06/2026 22:13

Nngg · 01/06/2026 22:11

Teens of different races.

TheKittenswithMittens · 01/06/2026 22:15

Surely, all can carry a sheathed knife in public or none. How can one community be given an exception, it’s insane? How gets to decide what is a religion and what isn't?

It’s grim. Heartbreaking for this lad’s family. Utter shame on all of them standing around him as he died, the slyness of the family is disgraceful. The police as as culpable as we all thought.

Noodledog · 01/06/2026 22:16

OneStarAwake · 01/06/2026 21:56

OK. But I saw a piece in the Telegraph that said:

The large ceremonial weapons that are sometimes pictured alongside articles about Sikhs – one of which Digwa used to murder Nowak – are already banned on the streets. Digwa was carrying a pesh-kabz, which was used historically by Sikh warriors to pierce armour. It has never been given an exemption to the law, nor would any Sikh want such an exemption.

Digwa wore a genuine, tiny kirpan under his clothes, which remained there throughout his murderous assault. The fact he was a Sikh is entirely irrelevant to what happened as a result of his being on the streets with a 21cm blade. He was breaking the law, as would be anyone else of any or no religion.

Is that wrong?

Eta article:

Just to add, I have no idea how The Telegraph managed to print that. The bloody judgement is only six (short!) pages long.

(goes away to mutter darkly about the state of journalistic standards today....)

Teens of different races.

Figures consistently show that Black Londoners account for over 50% of knife crime perpetrators and roughly 61% of knife murder perpetrators, despite making up approximately 13%–14% of the capital's overall population.

But let's just focus on Henry Nowak shall we on this thread at least.

JaneFondue · 01/06/2026 22:19

This article by a professor of Sikh studies is very interesting. She does call for some conversations. Digwa was not supposed to be carrying that large knife around. The law already bans large knives. And it's on Fraser Nelson's substack, interestingly.

Starmer has been ordered by the Speaker to make a statement. Its supposedly happening tomorrow. There are many people in authority that, in my opinion, should be hanging their heads in shame

Noodledog · 01/06/2026 22:25

Female police officer at the end of the video "his pupils aren't even reacting". Henry is still handcuffed, completely helpless with his hands cuffed behind his back.

His poor, poor family having to watch that, it's utterly horrific. I hope the two police officers have nightmares about it every night, for the rest of their lives

A professor of Sikh studies? WTF. Why not a professor of the Beano comic? It's time all our laws were secular. We have a law about what weapons can be carried in public. A law that applies to everyone.

Wonderlandpeony · 01/06/2026 22:27

Just seen it on the news, Harry was saying I've been stabbed, the police man saying I don't think so there's no stab wound put your hand through the cuff, Harry saying I can't breathe.

Absolutely heartbreaking.

Thankfully they’ve mostly skulked away! It is clear from this thread alone (never mind social media) just how many people are outraged by this incident and the state of the country generally.

The ‘far right’ (ie., most normal/sensible/rational people) have fucking had enough. I know I have.

Fixydodah · 01/06/2026 22:29

Just watched the bodycam on BBC. The fact that the last words that boy heard, as he lay bleeding to death and handcuffed, was some dickhead of a cop saying no you haven’t been stabbed and you are under arrest, is beyond heartbreaking. At no point was the murderer cuffed. The murderer filmed him as he was dying. And his repulsive family helped him hide the weapon. Where are the protests, why isn’t Keir kneeling showing his support. There is two tier policing going on and it stinks. It really fucking stinks. How will Henry’s parents get over this? I hope the useless plod who deployed no thinking at all other than he’s a racist, never have peace. And that the murderer and his mother rot.

Oh lovely. If you can have professors of Christian theology, why exactly can't there be professors of Sikhism?
The kirpan is not a weapon. It's a blunt 3 inch dagger.
The sword Digwa carried is already banned by law.

SocialistMummy · 01/06/2026 22:31

Just saw the bodycam footage, which was absolutely horrible and shocking.

This is the first I've heard of the story!

RonniePickering · 01/06/2026 22:32

Well that police cam footage is one of the most upsetting things I've ever seen. The actual state of arresting ANYONE for assault when they're the only one on the ground, on the say so of someone else still standing, completely uninjured.
Hope his atrocious mother gets a stiff sentence (unlike her son).

It's all made up nonsense, just like the Christian theology. I believe in atoms and molecules.

Fixydodah · 01/06/2026 22:38

The fact that the murderer is Sikh, is neither her nor there for me, I am not aware of that community being law breakers in the main. It’s the police and government response to a monumental cock up where the rights of BAME are placed above the victim, correct policing, training, and reporting. The words two tier policing has been doing the rounds the last few years. This tragic case is indisputable evidence of that. I am not sure what the agenda is. Do they downplay the crimes of BAME people because they fear civil unrest? It is the fact that the establishment is complicit in covering up will be the cause of civil unrest.
