Henry Nowak

Heard of him? Probably not, because there seems to be an almost complete news blackout about him. Basically the police handcuffed him and let him bleed out because they thought he may have said something racist - he didn't, it was a lie told by his murderer. Henry was 18.

Words are cheap. Words won’t change what’s happening in this country at the moment

Oh well, Reform or Restore will make it all ok, no doubt.

Noodledog · 01/06/2026 21:40

It's interesting that Sikh men are allowed to openly carry large knives, for religious reasons, but women aren't allowed to carry anything for self defence that can be construed as an "offensive weapon"- which can be used to describe pretty much anything a woman might carry to try to defend herself.

The Govt could tell the Sikhs to stop carrying knives in public. Why don't they do that tomorrow?

That will definitely make a massive impact on knife crime. Seeing as how Sikhs are responsible for so much of it.

This dude would have carried the knife no matter what. His brothers weren't carrying knives. He was out for trouble.

I think maybe the OP expected more outrage in the news over this killing …

there should be A LOT of outrage over this murder. Henry said 9 times that he couldn’t breathe and that he had been stabbed the police response was “I don’t think you have mate” absolutely disgusting. They need to lose their jobs.
He was denied medical help because the police were too busy believing his killer that Henry had been racist when he hadn’t. It’s heartbreaking

The type of knife that was used to kill Henry Nowack was not the sort that Sikhs are permitted to carry.

There is a good piece in, of all places, the Daily Mail today. An excellent article from Merci Meroki. Amongst other things, she points out that Starmer and Rayner knelt in support when George Floyd was killed, but they were silent when Henry was attacked.

Of course they did! The fucking King and Queen of virtue signalling aren’t they?

If there was no exemptions to our laws regarding carrying knives perhaps Henry Nowak would be alive today.

You cannot know that Digwa would have carried a knife "no matter what".

If the law changes and it saves one life it is worth it.

Nngg · 01/06/2026 21:53

I'm going to say that most of the Sikhs I know are decent people. There are some who are twats, but none of them would murder.

Ipsevenenabibas · 01/06/2026 21:54

Interesting to read that local sikh leaders stated that Digwa had been barred from a local gurdwara long before the murder due to concerns over his behavior.

Carrying large, sharp knives in full view (albeit preferably in a sheath) is legally permissable. The judge sets the law out quite clearly. Carrying a knife is fine as long as it's not used as an offensive weapon (it's apparently ok for it to be used in self defence).

No skin off my nose. I am not Sikh and have no use for any religion.

But I have to wonder at this " dangerous Nihang Sikh" narrative when the stats show that Sikhs are immensely law abiding.

For clarity, this is only permitted for Sikhs. Nobody else can legally carry a knife.

OK. But I saw a piece in the Telegraph that said:

The large ceremonial weapons that are sometimes pictured alongside articles about Sikhs – one of which Digwa used to murder Nowak – are already banned on the streets. Digwa was carrying a pesh-kabz, which was used historically by Sikh warriors to pierce armour. It has never been given an exemption to the law, nor would any Sikh want such an exemption.

Digwa wore a genuine, tiny kirpan under his clothes, which remained there throughout his murderous assault. The fact he was a Sikh is entirely irrelevant to what happened as a result of his being on the streets with a 21cm blade. He was breaking the law, as would be anyone else of any or no religion.

Is that wrong?

Read it. I am surrounded by knife crime and shoplifting here in SE London.
None of it is being carried out by turbaned men with kirpans.

Talk about a straw man.

Yes, it's wrong. The judgement does not say that the knife carried by Digwa was not legal. It's described as a large, Sikh knife carried in a sheath.

This thread is about Henry Nowak and the Sikh man named vickrum digwa who murdered him though. Nobody's saying knife crime isn't a thing in London. Start a thread about that somewhere else.

No one is saying Sikhs are the problem…. They are known to be peaceful and law abiding generally. The problem is that the police chose to believe a man of colour over a white man in a pool of blood!

If you read the judgment and come away thinking that what is described in it is completely fine, then all I can suggest is that you're a bit blase about men carrying knives. I'm not sure why living in an area with a lot of knife crime would make you think that more men carrying knives is fine.

Last I heard Khan reported that the stats were down on crime and he had no knowledge of the rape gangs…

Some of the body cam footage has been released.

Poor, poor Henry. He was completely failed.
