What’s the strangest reason someone has got cross with you on MN?

ClassicStripe · 29/05/2026 07:12

When I was new to MN I used a way of phrasing something that is very common in my local dialect. To the point that I still can’t figure out what was wrong with how I phrased it. However rather than answering my thread there was just a pile on about my typing.

Another time someone became very angry that I said I worked at a school with a farm. I did at the time. But they were so angry that I might have “outed” my self. I’ve never put anything on here that I would be embarrassed people in my life finding out so I don’t know why they were so worried for me!

Yes. This is why I namechange regularly and rarely return to polarising threads I’ve posted on. I’ll probably have to NC again soon. I’d love one continuous username but the occasional rabid MN stalkers creep me right out.

What are you posting to attract such venom @Darragon ?? Been on mumsnet a decade and can’t say I’ve ever felt chased around by vipers!

I've only just seen this but I am not Welsh but even I know Welsh varies across the country so how could she not know that?

Good question - I’ve no idea. But my god did she get the hump… and it’s not even like the dialects are that different! If you understand one of them, you’ll pretty much understand the others. It was like she’d decided that because someone used ‘mom’ instead of mum/mam/whatever word she happened to use for mother - that that person couldn’t actually speak English and the entire paragraph was incomprehensible…

Not chased around no, but definitely bullied. All by people who say they are "feminist" but mean "transphobic".

I use mumsnet regularly and rarely remember a poster's username. I've never used the feminism boards but your username is one that sticks out as you've created some incredibly inflammatory and nasty posts in the past, for example your thread about women working during school hours.

Has anyone ever had a stalker like person who answers your every post even when you ignore them?

Yeah. I had to get mn to intervene in the end. It was more boring than anything but others on the threads must have wondered what was going on.

Was it AnyFucker? She fell from grace some time ago.

AF ripped me to shreds on a few different threads. Got to the point where I dreaded seeing her name pop up😅 What happened to her?

Colourfulchameleons · 11/07/2026 13:22

I’m currently being ripped to shreds because I wanted to add a little extra to my daughters birthday and the boys wouldn’t be arsed about wands.

Apparently I favour my DS, won’t let DD choose the theme and have only invited DS’s friends.

I wish people would stop and think. Even though it is obviously nonsense it is still really upsetting to read.

Which thread?

SapphiraWise · 12/07/2026 04:19

Having my own opinions, values, life experiences, principles and the audacity to express those, when asked, seems to elicit a shocking amount of vitriol.

Differentforgirls · 12/07/2026 09:12

Heatwaveintheoffice · 12/07/2026 08:34

This one. Remember most of the offensive posts by you on that thread were deleted for breaking the rules but this is the thread I'm talking about.
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/5513931-school-as-child-care

About viewing school as child care? I stand by it. You have a long memory!

Heatwaveintheoffice · 12/07/2026 09:24

No, for the things you said on that thread ie women that work during those hours DC are being raised by someone else. I then remember you clarifying that you did theexact same thing. Or the grandparent thread where you stated women that use grandparents as childcare are entitled. Again, you went on to clarify that your parents and in laws looked after your DC whilst you work. You make inflammatory statements then go on to say 'yeah I did the same when my DC were little but that's different because I'm a good Mum and I am not at all entitled'. I am simply pointing out that if you are like that on all threads I can see why people have more of an opinion on you before you contribute to the thread.

Didn't read any of that. I obviously touched a nerve.

I never understood the love. Whenever I saw her, she was berating some poor woman in a shitty relationship for not instantly ditching the guy and heading out with only her kids and the clothes on her back that very minute. She was very proud of not allowing her kids over 16 to have their partners (steady boy and girlfriends) stay overnight and got completely shitty when I said that was what drove me to have sex in the car as a youngster which was not only rather horrid but also far less safe.

She fell from grace during Covid when it was found she had two homes.

I wasn't going to get into this one, but needless to say, if that poster has been bullied on FWR threads then I have not seen it. What I have seen is her doing what she did here; accusing everyone of "blind hatred of trans people" even in the face of very intelligent and informed posters giving very well-substantiated posts showing the real life harm that has befallen women all over the world, including but not limited to rape, assault, serious injury, trauma, loss of income and business and stolen sporting opportunities, by enabling a self selecting group of men to enter their spaces and preventing them from saying so... and she has been challenged on it.

She admits just now that she didn't read your post but has assumed a ridiculous and self serving take on it anyway. She also complained about thread derailing but has been me-railing it
for three days. I've always thought it was a strange username given she doesn't accept that girls exist as distinct from boys.

Anyway, I won't indulge it further after this but I must admit it is galling to read.

EmailsaysOOO · 12/07/2026 10:11

Some poster was hugely annoyed with me for saying I don't wash my socks after each wear. I probably wear them maybe up to 4 or 5 days although I didn't admit this at the time . Her brain would have exploded if she'd known that..

Are you Dave Lister? 🤣

I had someone get very angry because I offer slippers to guests (shoeless house, please let's not derail on that) and she absolutely would not believe that I do indeed chuck them in the wash after each guest has finished using them. But I do. I do it with bedsheets and cutlery as well.

I've just remembered another one, reminded by a post I saw today on IG about the fact that Chiltern Railways are installing new ticket barriers that will be harder to jump through.

I once said on a thread that I sometimes tailgated at ticket barriers and someone was furious with me. Please note - I do have a valid ticket but sometimes they just don't work and the staff are unhelpful or just not around so it's easier for follow someone through.

Ah yes, she berated and lobbed insults at me on a thread as I had failed to LTB the instant she said I should. In fairness, a lot of people on MN behave similarly and expect people who complain about their husbands/partners to literally pack a case and leave from one day to the next.

I vaguely remember the two home controversy during Covid!
