What’s the strangest reason someone has got cross with you on MN?

When I was new to MN I used a way of phrasing something that is very common in my local dialect. To the point that I still can’t figure out what was wrong with how I phrased it. However rather than answering my thread there was just a pile on about my typing.

Another time someone became very angry that I said I worked at a school with a farm. I did at the time. But they were so angry that I might have “outed” my self. I’ve never put anything on here that I would be embarrassed people in my life finding out so I don’t know why they were so worried for me!

They arent as lovely as baby boys though 😉

Has anyone ever had a stalker like person who answers your every post even when you ignore them?

My 1st post was on AIBU, where I clashed with a member of MN Royalty. It was a baptism of fire!

I agree. The stance that all women's spaces should automatically become mixed-sex spaces because another, more powerful demographic insists and demands that they should, is by no definition a 'feminist' position. I'm amused by the observation that someone has been onto a feminist board under the guise of being a feminist, mades that point, and been in any way surprised by the response. This sounds rather disingenuous to me.

As for being 'ripped to shreds', as a feminist I'm secure enough in my own points of argument that I could make these stand up, even amid extremely strong disapprobation from other posters. The point of feminism is not that it's a mutually supportive network of women - some imaginary 'sisterhood' - all agreeing with each other. What would be the point in that? Feminism has occupied some of the most bitterly contested political ground in the peace-time 20th century and now into the 21st. 'Women supporting women' is not the goal, any more than 'choice'. Those are hopefully positive consequences of what has amounted to a battle to the death, in some senses, for a fairer and more equal playing field for the sexes. To reduce it to less than this is to denigrate what those earlier feminists achieved, not least what it cost them to achieve it.

If someone calling themselves a feminist doesn't recognise these very basic tenets of what is (and has always been) a pluralist set of movements, then they don't know very much about feminism. (And blokes in changing rooms have precisely nothing to do with it).

No! Nothing to do with me personally. It would be nice to have a good thread like this without mentioning trans women though.

Yep. Until people stop berating women for an entirely reasonable stance, for which some of them have been doxed, threatened, and lost their careers.

No one asked anyone to bring this up on this thread. They chose to. And people responded.

Yes. This is why I namechange regularly and rarely return to polarising threads I’ve posted on. I’ll probably have to NC again soon. I’d love one continuous username but the occasional rabid MN stalkers creep me right out.

This is another one that annoys me. I’m GC and get so damn sick of posters accusing anyone who disagrees of being a man. It’s such a tedious non-argument. IRL most of my GC friends are men and most of my TRA friends are women. 😵‍💫

No one suggested you were not. That wasn't the point I was making.

Not every one of the people constantly berating women for refusing to kow tow to expected behaviour are necessarily men. In fact, women are some of the worst for it.

No one has accused that poster of being a man.

I queried whether it was appropriate for a year 4 teacher to threaten my child with "checking the (non-existent) cameras" to see if they were lying about something. (They weren't)

I was single-handedly blamed for causing the teacher retention crisis.

For what it's worth, the headteacher was very concerned that the teacher had used this as a threat. (I didn't go running to the HT btw, it was part of a wider discussion on my child's EBSA and it has since been acknowledged that the teacher in question was not dealing with it well).

I am so not interested. Please take it to the people who are and let the rest of us have threads where we can avoid it all 🙏

Can I tell you what I find infuriating? Being called a TRA. This isn’t aimed at you.

I have friends who are trans women.

I think, as a feminist, that trans women are the least of our worries. They are 0.5% of the population.

There are countless threads on here about controlling men. Men women were raised by or are in relationships with.

I have yet to see one about a trans woman.

But, I am not a trans rights activist.

Im not out marching or shouting down women.

I am just an ordinary woman who will not vilify a minority.

Same. I've been called a TRA in the past simply for having an opinion on the trans debate that was something other than hate. And that wasn't even on the FWR boards. I'm not a TRA, I simply don't harbour blind hatred for people just because they happen to be trans. There's a lot of blinkered prejudice around certain topics on MN, unfortunately.
