Yeah. Forecasts look unpleasant.

Dragonfly97 · 29/06/2026 12:07

I'm dreading it; I've got gynae surgery on the 2nd July so I hope I'm out of hospital before the hot weather comes back.

JenniferBooth · 29/06/2026 13:00

It hasnt gone away it doesent when you live in a Sanctuary sweatbucket shithole. Nothing is left on overnight except the fridge freezer and yet you step out of the bedroom and it is like a furnace. If the HA decide they want to do any works or checks im not moving a thing. Im not lifting a fucking finger Sick of it They turned this place into a sweatbox They can take the consequences Absolute fuckers

the80sweregreat · 29/06/2026 14:03

I feel for people who can’t escape the heat.
DS 2 lives in a flat and he is struggling with the heat too. I detest it and I’ve heard two people today say ‘ it’s coming back ‘ :( 😩
The hot weather can do one but it probably won’t for a while yet. I hate living in the south east , it’s just too much sometimes and we get less rain than other places do.

I’m absolutely not lying. Trust me I have suffered illness every single heatwave in this country and I know it was extremely hot that week!

I've thought about this, and i live in Shropshire. It was absolute murder last week, especially Thursday & Friday. I sweltered at home, worried sick about my dog, who has a thick coat and is getting older. The house is a sweat box in the summer; i wish I'd thought twice when we bought it, with big west-facing windows. You just can't keep it cool. I contemplated sleeping outside, I was so desperate.

Much better today, around 20°c at the most, I'd be happy if it stayed like this for the rest of the summer, but I doubt it will.

RhosynCymru · 29/06/2026 14:50

Read that and it’s so awful. Yet people don’t seem to take the heat threat seriously 😕

The reaction when i asked if it was rented or owned 🤔

JenniferBooth · 29/06/2026 23:08

The mental gymnastics on that thread is really something

JenniferBooth · 30/06/2026 12:29

ITV News is looking to speak with people living in social housing who are struggling with living conditions during the heatwave. If this is you, and you're happy to share your story, please email [email protected].

Still like a sauna in my flat

The nighttime temperatures must've been a lot better last year because there was at least some relief from opening the windows at night.

Never thought I'd sit here waiting for winter

I spent two hours in an air-conditioned office yesterday - not my office sadly - I was visiting a client. And she had a light jumper on.

it's amazing how normal an air-conditioned world looks!

That said, I remember arriving in Miami in winter and one of the airport staff said "I really love your jacket. I would buy that, but we'd never get a chance to wear it here". It did have wool in it because I had that thing of trying to deal with airport in winter, then the aircraft, then arriving in a hot place.

humidity in Miami was really high even in winter, to be honest I struggled with that but was there for work so pretty much everywhere I went was air-conditioned.

I don't like that feeling of being forced out of my own home. The nearest air-conditioned work space is fully booked till the end of July. I'm checking out another one tomorrow. But I have a feeling they're not quite telling the truth about having air conditioning.

I may be wrong. Fingers crossed. I know the building and they must've retrofitted it if they've got it.

What a strange existence, being obsessed with air-conditioning at least once an hour!

PinkHollyhocks · 30/06/2026 14:13

Fucks sake. Predictions of 30-40 degrees next week.

the80sweregreat · 30/06/2026 14:21

Pink, I know :(
I am watching the forecasts , but Facebook doesn’t help with its predicted ones in bright red.
It’s already making me depressed thinking of all that again when I’ve had a few nights of sleep.

JenniferBooth · 30/06/2026 15:02

Showing 31 here for next Monday. If this is going to happen every other week (and there is not even a weeks break from it for those of us in sweat boxes that take days to cool down) then air con is going to be required but the "just a few days" gaslighters wont like it. If its just a few days then ppl getting air con wont matter will it?

Lottapianos · 30/06/2026 15:03

I'm watching the forecast like a hawk and the BBC have knocked a degree or two off their predictions for next week. So it's currently 28 at weekend, up to a high of 31 mid next week

Fingers crossed that it doesn't get any higher 🤞 the clouds and cool breeze are HEAVEN today. I sat outside at lunchtime and it was vaguely chilly! Had forgotten what that felt like 🤣

MadisonAvenue · 30/06/2026 17:20

The temperatures on the forecasts for next week have reduced by a degree or two here, still too hot for me though in the high 20s.

EmeraldRoulette · 30/06/2026 20:06

Rhetorical but….how can it be so nice outside and so disgusting in these new build flats? It’s quite an achievement.

Its the same here Went out to do the grocery shop and then back to a furnace 1977 flat

EmeraldRoulette · 30/06/2026 20:28

@JenniferBooth I think anyone in this type of build was stuffed with the May heatwave because that means no respite all summer.

My flat isn't new build (I think they're maybe 50-60 or so years old?) but for example earlier in the week, it was about 20 degrees outside and relatively cool, but inside it was still nearly 29 degrees and it took several days of all the windows being wide open to get rid of all the built up heat inside it. I just looked it up and it has a C energy rating with pretty well-rated wall insulation, double glazing etc...so no wonder they hold the heat in!

the80sweregreat · 30/06/2026 20:31

It was that week in may that messed up a lot of this and if that hadn’t been as hot , maybe the last heatwave may have been bearable. Usually may is milder and rainy , but that week was horrendous
it is nice now , a breeze and not as hot. If only it could stay like this ( or more rain ) it wouldn’t be as bad.
