Ps I’d love 28, like a bit of heat

Soubriquet · 23/05/2026 16:32

It’s horrible here, and I’m really suffering. I don’t do well with heat

Sunshinetime199 · 23/05/2026 16:33

It’s beautiful where we are in the south. 25 degrees is just perfect with a warm breeze.

London does not appeal to me in this weather 🙈

NoWordForFluffy · 23/05/2026 16:33

FlipthelidSid · 23/05/2026 16:30

You must be further south than I am. I think tomorrow will be warmer here.

Southport, facing south!

I'm in London Mon / Tues and dreading it. 🥵

itsgettingweird · 23/05/2026 16:33

It’s lovely here.

South coast. Sunny 27° with a nice gentle breeze.

I've sat in the garden (under the umbrella) and now inside with fan on. I’ll go outside again in a bit with my podcast.

went to Aldi midday and i think everyone is planning to bbq later with the absence of any meat or rolls on the shelves. So I’ll make sure my washing is in in a bit too.

BorgQueen · 23/05/2026 16:43

Our best investment was a drop arm canopy over our massive, west facing lounge window. We can still see outside and it keeps the sun off completely all afternoon/ evening /
It knocks at least 5° off the indoor temperature.
Neighbours across the road have put black film over their front window, which looks incredibly odd.
For our morning sun bedroom, I put a sprung pole with a white sheet right up against the inside of the glass and it does make a difference, our blackout blind which sits 4 inches in feels like a radiator without it.

We have a floor standing air purifier downstairs which we combine with a fan on the floor pointing up, which directs cooler air at the ceiling. 24° in my lounge but thankfully little humidity

ooohreallly · 23/05/2026 16:44

I’m in the east, with 28°. I’m not hot at all. I Did shut all my blinds this morning and find it helps keep the heat out. I’ve been out into the garden a few times but it didn’t seem too bad, I’m not a heat person generally so I’m mostly indoors today.

Hedjwitch · 23/05/2026 16:46

Jealous. Still got a cool breeze in Scotland. Its not even very warm.

JFDIYOLO · 23/05/2026 16:47

May I advise: Dove's Whole Body Deodorant does NOT work

East and west facing large windows, here. East is the bedroom so that gets the morning sun. West is the living room, bathroom and kitchen so all windows, blinds closed entire day until the sun goes down. I feel like every summer is just a challenge to dread and be got through. It’s no way to live.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 23/05/2026 16:20

Ohhh Just dropped my rum and triple sec

No mojitos for me

😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

OMG OP, I know you're suffering but theres never any excuse for cocktail spillage. Be careful.

kohlrabislaw · 23/05/2026 16:49

I’m just glad I’m not in those horrendous queues at Dover.

ConstantlyFuriosa · 23/05/2026 16:49

And I’ve chosen this week to give up booze ffs!

Mumofyellows · 23/05/2026 16:49

South coast, it’s warm but not too hot, we were on the beach early with the dogs this morning, popped into town and have spent the afternoon sitting in the sunshine in the garden. I love summer! Cool shower before bed and the fan on, I spend all winter waiting for days like these.

No such thing as the wrong weather, just the wrong clothes, ladies. Sun cream and crack on.

Which bit of people talking about chronic illnesses and the genuine threat to health/ life makes you think that is an appropriate response? 🙄

PotatoLove · 23/05/2026 17:03

I'm in London too and it's going to be even hotter tomorrow and Monday.

The cats and I are laying in front of the fan.

whoateallthecookies · 23/05/2026 17:14

Our whole family really struggles with heat (and we live in a hot part of the UK). We installed full aircon 4 years ago, and it's transformed our home. I highly recommend it.

elliesmummy19 · 23/05/2026 17:17

I’m with you. I’m in an epic Crohn’s flare, might be my worst yet. It’s a struggle staying hydrated without the heat. I’m not a big fan of heat at the best of times but I’m struggling. And it isn’t even too hot yet 🙃

Can I ask what it cost? Ive just been quoted £1500 for our bedroom! Seems a lot.

We paid £6k for the (large) living room and three bedrooms. It was slightly more than it might have been because we have a single external unit than one per room - this was permitted under planning regulations (we live in a conservation area), so we avoided having to apply for planning permission.

Jennalong · 23/05/2026 16:17

How hot is it ?

I live in Cumbria , been cloudy most of today but currently sunny and have the heady temperature of 15 degrees !

Same here! I’m looking forward to a bit of warmth tomorrow- maybe 20 degrees! Whoohooo! And 25 on Monday! So weird that London climate is so different. It’s only 2hrs 45 away on the train.

I tell a lie, it was £1800 + vat 😬. I guess prices have gone up a lot in the last 4 years.

Sarah2891 · 23/05/2026 17:27

Hate it. 29c here earlier in the day. I can't cope with it due to chronic illnesses. I'd be ok with it otherwise.

KitKatPitPat · 23/05/2026 17:29

I have a chronic illness that’s worsened by heat, and live in the south of England so consider myself an expert on coping strategies!

  1. there are always damp towels in the fridge, I drape them over the back of my neck and replace every so often
  2. all windows and doors on the shady side are open, all windows and doors on the hot side are shut and the curtains are drawn
  3. loft hatch is open
  4. I have fans dotted around the place, all with bowls of ice in front of them so they’re blowing the cold air around
  5. Cold water on the under side of your wrists will cool you down
  6. the bedsheets and pillowcases will go in the fridge for a while before bed.

The £6k definitely included VAT!
