31c here (feels like 30c). Humidity and dew point are lower though.

Feeling horrendously hot this afternoon though. I feel hot on the inside if that is even a thing? My body doesn't seem to acclimatise to heat, my blood just starts to cook.

Currently sitting in my dark living room, under a fan with a neck fan on before I brace myself to hang out some washing (indoors, outside lines are full)

Very easy dinner, salmon and new potatoes and countdown until the outside temperature is low enough so I open some windows.

Zov · 27/06/2026 16:06

Just gone up to 28C.

It's not really ending today - it's better than it has been for the past week (32-35 degrees C most days, and now it's 27C where I am - North Midlands,) but it's still hot and quite humid. Also, although we're going to have a bit of a break over the next few days, the hotter weather (30C plus) is going to come back. It's still only June, no WAY is it not going to get really hot again.

Yeah, I did see that but I’m in denial! Will just have to think of it as a respite then I suppose. And just not get too overheated and drink a lot of fluids!

Hercy · 27/06/2026 16:45

ive found my people. My house is disgusting - tiled floors feel like the underfloor heating is on, glasses feel warm when you get them out the cupboard😭😭😭

Dragonfly97 · 27/06/2026 16:57

It's fresher here today thank goodness. But I'm worried about the next heatwave; upstairs becomes uninhabitable. Our coolest room is a small east- facing room off the kitchen, which has a table & chairs in it. I want to move those, get a sofa to go in there so we can use it as a sitting room. And I've just ordered a blow up mattress to use in there. So i feel a bit more in control of the situation.

I'm thinking of buying a portable air con unit when they come back into stock. Reviews are mixed on the ones I've looked at. Any advice on what to look for?

They're all much of a muchness really. Spend about £300 and make sure you get a window kit. Sealing the window up around the pipe is the key to a successful cool down.

I’ve removed my pillows and duvet from the bedroom during the last few days as I felt they were acting like mini radiators. Wish I could do the same with the carpet!

Downstairs is much better, all tiles or wooden floors which feel much cooler.

It was only supposed to be 28C here today but it was revised up to 30C. Plus the wind feels like a hot hairdryer.

I’m so tired.

We will still get utter gaslighters like Yasmin A Brown saying "its only three days"

Whyohwhy321 · 27/06/2026 22:18

I'm in heaven! Front window wide open, cool breeze blowing in, fan on and I'm actually an OK temperature for the first time in days. Feels utterly blissful. Upstairs is still hot and will take a few days to cool down but I feel such huge relief.

IberianLynx · 27/06/2026 23:28

Cannot believe this, have been looking forward to the temperature dropping down to 26 tomorrow as forecast. Just checked the forecast and it is now 32 degrees tomorrow. So pissed off!

This is the crux isn't it "feeling in control ".
I have so vulnerable and out of control

We need. Heatwave tech thread ,best neck fans /wall mounted units and so on.

the80sweregreat · 27/06/2026 23:57

The forecasters were positive it was coming down a lot next week and much fresher , but that was earlier on.

the80sweregreat · 27/06/2026 23:58

My fan wasn’t on at all today , or just a quick blast on number 4. Which is good , but I’d prefer it colder still

Where are you? It's still saying 26 tomorrow on the BBC app and I'm in the south east where we've had some of the hottest temperatures this week.

We always fucking do ..........im so pissed off with it

AllTheTreesOfTheField · 28/06/2026 07:16

19C here currently, 'feels like 24', top temp today 24C, MUCH better, but next Mon, Tues forecast says 32c and 33c!!!!! WTF!!!!

PerhapsaSillyQuestion · 28/06/2026 07:47

I'm worried about our late July holiday now as well I don't want to get stuck in airports or hotels with weak air con in this

AllTheTreesOfTheField · 28/06/2026 08:04

Towards the end of July there is no reliable signal for preferring any one weather pattern over another. However, temperatures are likely to be above normal on the whole, with a greater than normal chance of hot conditions developing at times.

Lifted from the met office long range forecast.

Exactly how I feel! I’ve spent the past two weeks in a state of tears, anxiety and frankly not wanting to carry on. People don’t realise the stress mentally and physically when you haven’t felt cool or comfortable for weeks on end. I also feel desperation and rage at what we have all done to the planet.

Delatron · 28/06/2026 09:20

Last night was not as cool as I anticipated and my house is still boiling. Feels like I have the underfloor heating on. Today feel warmer than they forecast.

Squirrelsnut · 28/06/2026 09:22

There's tons of stored heat in the brick. It'll cool down over the course of the day.

Delatron · 28/06/2026 09:42

Thanks @Squirrelsnut looking forward to the cool down. And there is a lovely breeze now. Dog happier!

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 28/06/2026 11:00

SE London, 23 degrees now, hotting up to 25 during the day. Friday was so hot, Saturday better but still hot. Finally cooling and a breeze last night and today.

the80sweregreat · 28/06/2026 11:04

It is cooler today , not put the fan on and there is a breeze. I am watching the weather like a hawk and I have high hopes it won’t get too bad this week coming.
July will be hotter though mid way , but let’s hope it starts to break down. August can be unpredictable at times, a few weeks of rain wouldn’t go amiss at some stage . We need water!
