THERE IS NO AIR

Can we please talk about the humidity?!?!

MagicThanks · 24/06/2026 11:47

I’m in London too. I actually haven’t found it too bad so far, maybe because I have a good fan at home and have been leaving work at 2ish, and also haven’t been teaching much due to exams. I think it’ll be tougher tomorrow and Friday when I have a full classroom.

BurnoutBee · 24/06/2026 11:55

@GimmieABreakOr3

yes! The humidity. Fuck me!

BurnoutBee · 24/06/2026 11:58

@the80sweregreat

Same. I feel like my life’s on hold. To me it’s just an endurance test. Next year I’m investing in two air con units, but I need to save first. I actually can’t stand it so clearly I need to buy some units. I can’t put my life on hold for hot weather. It triggers migraine for me.

Would you go on a thread where women were struggling in their marriages (and the thread title made it clear that’s what the thread was about) and start talking about how lucky you are because you had a great husband and start giving examples of all the great things he does for you?

🙄

People on this thread definitely don’t want to hear about how easy others are finding the heat to cope with 🤣

I believe there are lots of threads where people are rejoicing about the heat and how they’re managing just fine, whereas we just need to be amongst our own people where we all understand how difficult we are all finding it.

No, but they might take some comfort in knowing that those who are not affected by warm weather acknowledge that there are many that are obviously not coping.

This thread is an eye opener.

JFDIYOLO · 24/06/2026 12:33

I am SO DAMN ITCHY.

My face is red and puffy and radiating heat.

My fingers feel like boiled sausages.

Even in sandals my feet are sweaty.

I can't think, and work is difficult because my laptop and phone are overheating.

Also - I hate all my bras. What seemed like a great design when I bought them last autumn is now the design from hell. Who thought that having them cut so high your armpit folds around them like a disgusting sweat sandwich was a good move?

That is the end of the news. And now, the weath - ah.

No need to be a dick. I acknowledged that I was lucky. That is all.

29oC and you aren't hot under a duvet,???
See a Dr....

I'm in London. I didn't find yesterday too bad but the humidity today is deadly.

However, I am making the most of it! I went out early this morning and hung all my woolen blankets on the line for the sun to bake the moths out of them. I was planning to brush them and bring them in tonight but it's not due to fall below 30 until about 10pm so they can get darked on and I'll do it first thing tomorrow.

JenniferBooth · 24/06/2026 13:13

Just got into a cold bath with my nightshirt on Needs must in the Sanctuary sweatbucket. Needs must in the Sanctuary sauna

Gettingbysomehow · 24/06/2026 13:20

I just went out of my air conditioned clinic to get some lunch. Car said the outside temperature is 30 but it feels like the sun over heated and exploded.
I think the car is lying.
As well as that loads of my leg ulcer patients have come in with maggots in their ulcers because they ignored my advice not to take their bandaging off in this heat.
It's the same every year - maggots.

Loose Women were banging on about how brilliant the weather is If this was presented by four women who live in a tower block it would be a completely different tone

They are easy to kill - salt water.

WatermelonForBreakfast · 24/06/2026 14:19

I've bought my own brand of hell to it by getting diarrhoea at the same time.

What have I just read, my dear god

ChirpyTealFox · 24/06/2026 15:38

I caved and bought a 2nd air con unit for upstairs. I'm in the south east and its hotter than hell atm. I know we only get weather like this a few days a year but its just not worth the suffering on the few days that we do 🥵

JenniferBooth · 24/06/2026 15:45

More diarrhoa from living in a Sanctuary sweatbucket

Crunchymum · 24/06/2026 15:59

Accuweather is saying 35c but feels like 39c

Truly abysmal.

I managed so well yesterday but I knew from about 9am I'd struggle today.

I popped a few wet muslins in the freezer about 30 minutes ago, have had one on the back of my neck for a few minutes and it's very cooling / refreshing.

Lottapianos · 24/06/2026 16:01

Same here. It's so much hotter than yesterday 😫

We get a few degrees of respite tomorrow then back to pure hell on Friday. Roll on Sunday and mid 20s temperatures next week! 🤞

BorgQueen · 24/06/2026 16:32

Sainsburys had turned off their chillers and freezers when I went at 09.30 this morning, all empty because they couldn’t cope with the heat. The only thing still working was the milk chillers, thankfully.
They must have lost thousands of ££s worth of food. Bizarrely it was really cold in there.
I have a splitting headache due to only having around 4 hours sleep last night, it feels like there’s no air.

It feels like Florida minus the arctic air con.
DH was supposed to work in someone’s loft today - customer rang and said it was 52° in there so did he want to leave it for today!

I’ve been in Egypt in 47° and it wasn’t this brutal - the humidity is vile.

henlake7 · 24/06/2026 16:39

34C here and pretty much had a normal day.
Did my weight training and cardio in my upstairs bedroom this morning, then went to the cinema in the afternoon (walking an hour each way in the hottest part of the day).
Only difference is Ive spent all day covered in a grimy, disgusting layer of sweat like a human slip and slide, I feel like im inhaling the air from an oven and Ive already had 2 cold showers today.😩Fudging miserable!!

I dont believe anybody who has to do anything active in this heat and humidity can actually be enjoying it....

YourHangryLilacJoker · 24/06/2026 17:01

I'm nearly 37 weeks pregnant and still working full time, I've barely slept in days as I just cannot get the house cool enough and my ankles were last seen two weeks ago. I cannot cope any longer 🤣

So why did you walk for 2 hours in the hottest part of the day?
