A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

@EasternStandardhaha! I gathered! Don’t get me wrong not a fan of Labour but it’s the fucking back benchers that boil my piss more than anything

But the backbenchers no matter how talented have no power. They're whipped into shape. I feel sorry for them.

Staemer is meeting apprentices tomorrow !

Oh those poor kids, just want to talk about the very beginning of their career and now they are playing human shield between the press and the sitting duck PM.

Staemer is meeting apprentices tomorrow !

I hope he’ll be giving them his top tips on how to hold down a job and make a success of it.

Would that be apprentice toolmakers?

Seriously, if we get a change of leadership because of these idiotic back benchers I will lose my shit! The country gets pulled into more chaos - thanks you monumental bellends!

Really don't agree. It's in chaos already. And we need somebody who's brave enough to come in with their chancellor and reverse Reeves' disastrous growth-strangling policies. Or at least introduce counter-policies which negate their effects.

Sarahconnor1 · 12/05/2026 06:22

In true 'good day to bury bad news' fashion, Zack Polanski has admitted failing to pay council tax.

Tax for thee, not for me.

27TimesAway · 12/05/2026 06:34

Completely random musing- but Stamer used as his 'excuse' for taking the lovely kickback of the use of Lord Ali's house was that his child was revising for their GCSes during the GE.

If he has a child trying to do A-levels amongst all this shit I feel a definite twinge of sympathy for the poor kid. (I'd say which one, but those of you may recall Stamer refused to identify if he had boys or girls and what their names were saying it was none of the general British public's business).

Still poor kid though.

Upstartled · 12/05/2026 06:34

So, that's lying about working for the ministry of justice, lying about being a red cross spokesperson, lying about being a member of the national council for hypnotherapy, lies about making boobs bigger through the power of suggestion, is a council tax dodging hypocrite..wonder what's next?

EasternStandard · 12/05/2026 06:36

I’m appreciating Shabana Mahmood this morning.

27TimesAway · 12/05/2026 06:36

But, for all we know he DID make someone's boobs bigger through the power of his mind..... he can't have lied about that as well, surely?

[weeps in corner as all faith in those who hold public office goes]

79 MPs now according to the Telegraph. Do we think the are keeping it just under the threshold to afford him a bit of dignity and pretend whatever comes next is of his own volition?

EasternStandard · 12/05/2026 06:44

The 81 is a bit different, that’s only for a new leader in a challenge. So it’s more on principle for the number currently.

The thing to watch for is the cabinet meeting at 9.00am. Mahmood and whoever else will ask him to put a timetable, others might oppose that.

She’ll use the West letter with over 80 signatures, and the 79 so public calls to go, and opposite will use the usual.

All chaired by KS. He should go, whether he will even now get over his ego idk

Upstartled · 12/05/2026 06:46

Ahh, okay, thank you. Gosh, exciting times.

With you there.

The LW will likely do a proper number on her now.

MNLurker1345 · 12/05/2026 06:55

Maybe a timetable today? It is imminent. Mahmood calling for it is definite shift.

Hallowedturf · 12/05/2026 06:56

One of Sir Keir Starmer’s remaining loyalists has claimed a general election “will be needed” if Labour MPs oust the Prime Minister.

Alison Taylor, the Labour MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, claimed Sir Keir had a personal mandate following his landslide general election victory in 2024.

She said on X: “A general election will be needed, if we carry on any further with this. Mark my words, it will be a general election next. The public elected Keir Starmer.”

Hallowedturf · 12/05/2026 07:00

He won’t go without a fight.

He might fudge a delayed departure.

My view.

27TimesAway · 12/05/2026 07:01

I wondered overnight (as you do) if Starmer's ego is such that he will purposely bring the party down with him- which is what calling a GE would do IMO.

Imagine. What terrifying coalitions would form if there is no majority....

Well she's talking nonsense. As much as I hate KS I just want him gone and then for labour to do govern in a reasonably competent manner.

Also apologies..I only just noticed I had a name change fail !

Morning all!! Exciting day ahead!

Yes I saw Dan Neidle the tax expert chap on X talking about this. He owed £4k. I think he might have paid it now.

Upstartled · 12/05/2026 07:06

Lammy tried that before, didn't he? Saying a change of leadership would necessitate a general election in order to frighten off those who were mobilising for Starmer's head last year.

An early GE works for me.

Happy to accept the inevitable volatility in the interim if it means banishing socialism for my lifetime.

Upstartled · 12/05/2026 07:08

There won't be a general election, it's an empty threat.

EasternStandard · 12/05/2026 07:09

The GE threat isn’t a very good one imo, a bit hollow. The greater issue is KS and his barnacle ego, he might try to fight going despite all the people saying go.

In which case I expect Burnham would start getting plan together and markets could react and Streeting step in to stop that. Even more variables than Johnson times, better when it’s another party.

With the caveat on GE, who knows could be wrong.

Hallowedturf · 12/05/2026 07:11

Upstartled · 12/05/2026 07:08

There won't be a general election, it's an empty threat.

That presupposes that Starmer’s successor delivers, and survives.

Not sure anyone can make guarantees of either.

Consider a run on sterling or gilt spike.
