A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

And the assumption seems to be that if you don't like Starmer then you must be a Reform supporter?
This thread is about Labour not working, nothing else. I don't go on the gardening threads to talk about construction.

Really? Most people surely appreciate that there are some Tories, Lib Dems and Greens left.

You say this thread is purely about Labour not working, nothing else. Yet Badenoch and Polanski are frequently referenced both positively and negatively. But Farage's £5million is off limits. Confusing.

The SDP party which historically was seen as a 'Centre Left' Party is now being touted as a potential right wing Nuisance alongside the Conservatives, Advance and Restore. What this highlights is how Left Wing the Centre of UK Politics has become. On the SDP they are some very sensible 'Centre Left' ideas about Society Law and Order and control of the Borders also an understanding in the benefits of Selective and Private education systems. A lot of these types of beliefs would have not been far off what David Blunkett eventually believed . How Far left has the Labour Party gone when traditional Labour ideas are deemed to be far right and Fascist !

How do we feel on here about Farage's £5 million personal gift for campaigning for Brexit? I remember that there were many references to Starmer's glasses and suit freebies. Anyone?

I think it stinks. It’s being investigated by the commissioner. I’d like the outcome to be something savage and career ending.

But as happened with the Electoral Commission’s investigation into Labour Together’s undeclared £700k funding, there almost certainly won’t be any condign punishment.

It’s not really confusing. Over on your Starmer threads there’s never any discussion of the many disgraced Labour MPs and their scandalous wrongdoing. And that surprising blindness is all the stranger given the holier-than-thou attitude of Labour.

I'm with @SapphireCasino on Farage I've always said he didn't want to be prime minister. He's more of a king maker.

Have you name changed just to add that to this thread?

I agree.

But as nothing will happen about it, as you say, I just feel a bit meh about it. What's the point in being bothered, if the body set up to investigate and deal with such things apparently has no appetite to do anything about it? My disgust / outrage is just a waste of energy and headspace.

They've either name changed or they're new. I'm voting for the former. Maybe they couldn't stand just lurking anymore, and had to change their name to post!

Why say 'your' Starmer threads. I have never posted on a Starmer thread although I do read through them sometimes.

Er no! I actually don't post that much and also name change frequently as you get some strange folks checking posting history, which I find a bit creepy.

FatEndoftheWedge · Yesterday 22:11

I think it's the sheer hypocrisy that drags people into comment about labour misdemeanours eg abbot /private school for son and all the other Labour MPs who didn't chose their local bog standard comp ..those that want to squirrel away funds for their children etc etc and yet want to stop others for wanting what they want. That's the difference.

And it's rammed down our throats with entitled moral superiority whilst they kick away ladders.
Otherwise I don't care

Just catching up

Relieved it wasn't a picture of Keir Starmer in his underwear.

@TheNoWord can DelicateDog cope with a walk on the windy beach? I can't. 😂

Edited

She puts up with if she is allowed to wear her puffs coat. She wonders if they make DryRobes for small dogs 😆

I have to go back and read 87 posts now, I thought we were promised dull politics?

Ok, well I don't use AS on posters as I disagree with it.
We are a broad church of right/centre right leaning posters with different views. We don't attack or provoke each other if and when we disagree. I genuinely don't care what Reform are up to, but I will defend Reform supporters as I don't agree with the MN sport of attacking them. Hope thats clear. If you want to moan about the current government on here, go ahead.

I listened to this podcast today:

The SDP isn’t on my radar, but I found it interesting. I am always curious about new points of view.

I voted SDP in 2024. William Clouston is outstanding IMHO.

Plenty to moan about the current lot. They are woeful and shameful and it gets worse by the day. The state of British politics is so bad at the moment and the outlook for the country so dire that, if we didn't have DC here, I would want to emigrate. That is the context of my comments on Farage. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm all for checking people's posting history when they pop up and start throwing accusations around / demanding answers like they own the place.

We had another one like that a few threads ago; they referred to people who use the search facility the same way you do (strange and creepy). 🤨

It is also a really useful way to check if somebody who's posted a click-bait thread is genuine. The contradictions it can throw up are useful so that people know they're wasting time on a non-genuine poster.

It's also a helpful tool when you know a poster posted something useful in, say, the Christmas topic, but you can't find the thread.

If we weren't meant to use it, it wouldn't be there to use! 🤷‍♀️

I think what you’re saying is that you’re an instinctive Tory. Amiright?

Yes but not the new lot.

Pringlez · Yesterday 22:35

Or rather, not so much the new lot although I would vote for them over anyone else at the moment.

SionnachRuadh · Yesterday 22:38

Rupert Lowe, or rather Alistair Harrison who runs the "Rupert Lowe" X account, is hinting that the Black Shorts might run a candidate.

Go ahead. Let's see if they come ahead of the Monster Raving Loonies this time.

Badenoch is the future. You know it. I know it. Starmer knows it. MN’s Labour crowd know it.

Just a matter of time now.

Who are the Black Shorts? They sound like Boden activists.

Restore. Uncle Rupert has a definite Roderick Spode vibe about him.

Though I can't be doing with these right wing micro-parties with their knock-off names - Restore, Reclaim, Rewind...
