A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

They’re all frantically ringing around to see if they have 81 backers?

Don't know if you heard Stephen Swinford on Times this morning, but he said Streeting allies were on the terraces last night trying to get the numbers.

Rayner seems to be free to throw her hat in the ring. That will be that then.

I heard that and also someone getting annoyed with KS and saying no to him staying just put a timetable.

He can’t go on now, he’s lost control and authority

I know, yet he clings on as they only thing he cares about is power. He is confirming in spades everything I despise about him rn.

I wouldn't be surprised if he fights a leadership contest too as he will automatically be on the ballot under Labour rules.

DH is taking the dogs to the beach in a minute as it’s cold and windy and he knows I hate that. I’m going to extend his contract for another year 😉

I’ll go and do my exercises while they are out, they are easier without dogs getting involved. That will take 40 minutes once I get started and I expect something to have happened by the time I come back...

Unrivalled · Yesterday 10:35

maybe there is some last minute horse trading as Starmer has made it clear he's ready for a real scrap - the first one he's been up for! Reeves also fighting for her job - I had the same reaction @CaveMum , show me that breakdown by sector too...because their public sector spending is hiding some of the other sectors they've killed.

Someone asked for him to go in the HoC yesterday, missed who it was, Labour?

Ah found it
Jonathan Brash (Hartlepool): In a high-profile move, Brash directly called for the Prime Minister to leave while speaking in the House of Commons during the debate on the King’s Speech, stating that Starmer's authority had "ebbed" and it was "time to leave the stage".

At that point it’s over

Nuthatch26 · Yesterday 10:45

Yeh I agree.
Brash's wife was a council leader who lost her seat too iirc.

Just to add, my dd heard Al Carn's name on the radio this morning. She recognised his name from SM. He has posted videos of himself weight training according to dd. 😂

He’s pretty hard core - even by RM standards: he climbed Everest earlier this year during one of the parliamentary recesses using an experimental system because he said he didn’t have time to acclimatise properly if he wanted to get back in time for the restart 🤣

Karl Turner scathing rn. Love it

Hallowedturf · Yesterday 11:42

FT

Wes Streeting’s plans to resign as health secretary appear to have been put on pause, as allies claimed that “things are shifting” and that Sir Keir Starmer was coming under new pressure to quit.

Starmer’s allies believe that Streeting’s failure to strike on Thursday morning is down to the fact that the health secretary has not secured the 81 names needed to launch a formal challenge.

But one Streeting supporter said: “Wes has got the numbers but things are shifting.” Streeting’s camp believes that more cabinet ministers would tell the prime minister to quit on Thursday and previously loyal MPs have also turned on Starmer.

FatEndoftheWedge · Yesterday 12:24

Intersting but it just reflects how little they all take the mandelson /Epstein link seriously to even think about putting up this man with such close links !

CaveMum · Yesterday 13:04

And they’re off!

boys3 · Yesterday 13:05

I don’t believe Streeting has nailed on numbers. The harsh reality is that he really needs around 120 “confirmed” to have wriggle room for the likely 20% to 25% who say they support him but then lose their nerve.

boys3 · Yesterday 13:06

Look like my last post won’t age well.😃

Lol at startling the kids 😂😂😂

boys3 · Yesterday 13:10

Not convinced his resignation letter exactly oozes confidence.(in himself)

EasternStandard · Yesterday 13:12

I just heard a bit of the letter, sounded pretty close to the issues.

NoWordForFluffy · Yesterday 09:33

You didn't have to bloody share it! 😩

😂😂

boys3 · Yesterday 13:12

And I’m not convinced the Labour membership would vote him in as Leader.

The factional bloodbath is about to reach a whole new level - swimming pool rather that bath probably needed.

TheNoWord · Yesterday 13:16

JHB not taking it well 😂
