A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

So, the thumb with a face has finally pulled the trigger. Now it’s going to get very interesting...

And I’m not convinced the Labour membership would vote him in as Leader.

The factional bloodbath is about to reach a whole new level - swimming pool rather that bath probably needed.

Olympic size!

Just reading his resignation letter. Sounds like he wants to wait until Burnham is back on the pitch so there can be a proper contest?
Makes sense for reasons of mandate and legitimacy.

Will enjoy watching them scrap it out.

Yes I think so too. For all the knives out it reads that he wants everyone who’s keen to be included. Ie AB

Unrivalled · Yesterday 14:07

good letter I thought - yes, yes it's the terrible policies, the lack of leadership, the terrible judgment and then blaming other people for that, he didn't pull many punches, definitely gone for it there.

Pacificsunshine · Yesterday 14:08

What could actually help the situation would be making Shabana Mahmood chancellor. She is objectively intelligent and effective (not my politics, but I tip my hat to competence.)

Would Labour give a woman of colour a key role? For all their DEI guff, I doubt it.

Unrivalled · Yesterday 14:09

well this is going to enliven the summer. Your move, Keir, Andy, Angela and uncle tom cobley and all

Not forgetting Mad Ed, whose reported intention is to shut the North Sea oil fields permanently.

I want to know who's pulling his strings.

Putin must be rolling on the floor laughing.

Is any other European country so inept?

Labour! They’re falling to pieces and they can’t even mount a challenge to a busted PM. No chance of a fresh start. Just continuing fighting and despair. Political necrosis.

Making it harder to bring a challenge against a leader is all well and good. But when the leader is a catastrophic dud, the party ends up with a terrible slow death.

It really does. It’s painful and they’ve only just started.

It's a god awful mess isn't it reminds me of Callaghan's death throes

Just read some comments quoting Catherine West. Apparently she has said that she could vote for Keir Starmer if there was a leadership contest.
So why did she lob a grenade? 😂 They really are too thick to govern.

Torsten Bell being mentioned for promotion.

If she phrased it exactly like that she might be employing the labour language speak: technically his name will be on the ballot and I could vote for him.

...aka never say anything that doesn't undo itself as you say it.

Just catching up

Relieved it wasn't a picture of Keir Starmer in his underwear.

@TheNoWord can DelicateDog cope with a walk on the windy beach? I can't. 😂

I have been a lurker on this page, but today is the first time I am commenting. I am so angry about this! Josh is my MP. I do not support Labour, but I have been happy with Josh as he has done so much for my area. To have Andy stand as MP in the hope of becoming PM is an insult to all us locals. We will be abandoned. The local Facebook page is fuming

asillysausage · Yesterday 17:36

I do not think they have thought this through properly! I have a feeling Reform will win, due to the disrespect shown to us

Yet another "will he, won't he" episode while we wait to see if Burnham's elected. Just what we need.😬

Welcome.
Thanks for your input, thats interesting. I'd be furious too if Burnham was parachuted in demanding my vote.
I live in GM. Does Burnham's mayoralty cover Makerfield? Its on the border between GM and Merseyside I believe?

OP posts:
Upstartled · Yesterday 17:39

Makerfield, this is how the general election went down. Simons comfortably won but Reform had a pretty big share of the vote.
