A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Kemi giving an excellent speech right now. Started at 15.12 if anyone wants to watch it later.

“Mr Speaker they are shouting at me but can’t wait to get back to their plotting”.

Nice. Good on her

TheNoWord · 13/05/2026 15:43

That was a barnstormer from Kemi. I’ve muted the bollard though, I’ll skim read his contribution later.

Agree that slapdown of Lady Nugee was top class @DancingFerret 😆

Monty36 · 13/05/2026 15:45

For some reason I cannot imagine what that might be, Starmer is standing and praising his own individual MP’s.

Well, perhaps true. And true again.
No need to be sarcastic either. It doesn’t reflect well.

Edited

Well, it appears that we otherwise agree.

DancingFerret · 13/05/2026 15:50

Starmer banging on about school breakfasts - again.🙄

Talking about the cost of fuel, but no mention of reducing fuel duty to help "working people".

Same old, same old; he's basically a very broken record.

Hallowedturf · 13/05/2026 15:55

A terrific piece in the FT about Kemi.

Will try to share.

I think I've got a girl crush after that speech 😂

Taking one for the team @DancingFerret

I’ll listen to Kemi later

His speeches are stuck in that toolmaker mode. My childhood family schtick he just can’t get out of it. Maybe because he’s sacked so many people, no new content.

Nuthatch26 · 13/05/2026 16:01

Starmer is a joke. Stuttering, dithering, lying mess of a man.

We don’t entirely agree. I think he has qualities that Starmer doesn’t have. I don’t cult worship him. I don’t vote Labour. But I don’t refuse to acknowledge what he could bring to the Labour front bench.
I do agree the country is lurching to the right.

Interesting article ,but I don't think anyone cares about Farage's age he seems like a whipper snapper compared to starmer and compared to the states and biden and trump he's a toddler but...good point about kemi having years ahead.

What a shame I missed that speech ! Is there anyway to replay it ?

True but Farage is a boozehound and a smoker, and he survived that light aircraft crash - which may have added a few years.

FatEndoftheWedge · 13/05/2026 16:42

So was winston Churchill !

Just caught up. Kemi was blistering in her appraisal of the government today. Fantastic.

DancingFerret · 13/05/2026 16:46

Excellent and well-observed article. Thank you.

I confess I've never considered the ages of PMs or PM-hopefuls, but there any actuary will testify it cannot be ignored - so that's another feather in Kemi's hat.

FatEndoftheWedge · 13/05/2026 17:06

@TheNoWord wow!
Wes streeting face when she spoke to him like a naughty toddler and "their legacy is going to be breakfast clubs and mandelson "!!

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 13/05/2026 17:07

I’ll watch Badenoch’s whole speech when I have time. But I have seen a brief clip of her putting down Streeting. Glorious stuff. Her face! She gave him a verbal seeing-to like a tough sixth form girl swatting away some gobby first year boy. Her expression to him when she’d finished was superb side-eye. And all of it was off the cuff.

Yes, that look was the parliamentarian equivalent of, 'come and have a go if you think you're hard enough'.

justasking111 · 13/05/2026 17:23

I laughed when she said it had been quoted that all the candidates for prime minister were F useless.

Reeves face 🤣🤣🤣

Kemi was amazing. She is getting so good at this!
