A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

"One extravagant theory floating around this afternoon is that Starmer could sack Streeting today and even suspend him from the PLP for undermining the King’s Speech. He’d be ineligible for nomination to the leadership. The chaos and paralysis would keep Starmer in place for a while longer. That seems far-fetched. But anything can happen in The Rickety Coup…"

That would be an interesting step, bearing in mind I don't think that Wes has actually said anything publicly himself about the situation?

But this is bollard we're talking about about, I suppose.

Wow!!!!!! 🍿

Sounds like Wes will have to piss or get off the pot.

Yes, I’d overlooked the unpleasant comments about Badenoch’s dress sense.

The wordplay on Kemi’s is quite popular as well.

Apparently that doesn’t happen either.

Upstartled · 13/05/2026 13:15

Yes, I regularly see Kemi's surname bastardised in a way that is disgusting. It's not a nudge, nudge about clothing, it's a slanderous assassination of her identity and outlook.

Funny that.

I clearly remember seeing it only yesterday.

Unrivalled · 13/05/2026 13:34

Sacking Wes would be an interesting power move alright - I wonder where Andy Burnham is today, holed up in a London hotel taking soundings?...

Is it always the same person? The thread I saw with it on, they persisted using it even after being deleted.

I think that knocks commenting on the style of a suit into a cocked hat. And then some.

Edited for migraine induced gibberish.

Starmer would be mad to try that. Doesn’t mean he won’t of course. But seems unlikely.

He’d not just be saying that he’s staying in command, but that he’ll stamp on anyone who tries to dislodge him, and expel them. That really would be a Napoleon delusion.

I doubt Streeting’s forgiven him for the horrible briefings from a while back. It won’t be pretty whatever happens.

You may be right but KS does seem particularly likely to do mad stuff like that.

Unrivalled · 13/05/2026 13:50

it would be mad but sacking Oly Robbins was mad and trigger happy too so he does have form...

LupaMoonhowl · 13/05/2026 13:56

I’d just love to know what the 👑 of the North is thinking now - just imagine the frustration!
An immediate GE (yes I know that’s unlikely) would benefit him more than Wes. He’s presumably hunting around for the safest seat, but surely anyone with a safeish seat (if there is one) would resist.
And as for our Keith - surely he must know he’s dead meat now - what can he be thinking?
Fascinating times.

No there's a few posters who use that name for her. MN will delete it if reported for the racism that it is.

I saw it again recently too, from one of the BeKind brigade no less.

I report it when I see it. It's despicable behaviour (from the allegedly morally superior left as well!).

Nuthatch26 · 13/05/2026 14:07

I won't give details, but I've had a strange PM. Is it from anyone on here sending me a wind up?

Just wanted to check incase my peri brain isn't functioning properly.

If it is someone on here just having a giggle, please write me another message so I know. Thanks all.

Starmer has "full confidence" in Streeting.
