A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

100 MPs have signed a letter of support for Starmer. And they’ve all remained anonymous!

They are the ones who want to deadly it to give the King of Manchester a pop at it.

Yes. Starmer’s support is a mixture of the genuine (few) and water treading plotters (many).

Where’s Burnham gone? He got a train to London and then seems to have disappeared. It’s like he’s a runaway teen.

@CaveMum probably ! I imagine there is an ultra secret how do we handle trump tips and hints and strategies support group.

But nonetheless since day one everyone circles back to him with glowing praise. I'm not necessarily thinking it's of their own volition but they have been told to hold a tight team for ops

FatEndoftheWedge · 12/05/2026 16:27

Sky says he has a route but can't blow it ?

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 12/05/2026 16:27

A health minister has resigned. Will Wes Streeting announce…?

Well anonymous that's pretty worthless 🤣

It’s shameful TBH. The ‘go’ MPs are on the record and face the consequences. These ‘stay’ MPs are hiding behind anonymity.

She’d be my pick. I don’t know whether she could keep the party from completely fracturing though. I don’t know how she’s regarded by the left.
Unrivalled · Today 12:38
interesting on the TRIP live, AC thinks that Yvette C is seriously after the job...

I said to a colleague at the weekend that Starmer should be bumped to the Foreign Office and Cooper to No 10.

Listening to Lord Ricketts, the former National Security Adviser, this lunchtime on the World at One on R4 I was interested to hear him float that idea...well of Starmer for Foreign Sec. He said it was pretty left field but it sounds like it's out there in the ether...

Have you ever used Avanti west coast. He is probably still at Milton Keynes

True. He may be having a cheese sandwich somewhere on the network.

(I did get a train to Manchester and back quite recently and I have to say that the trains and service weren’t bad at all.)

I was delayed over 2 hours last time I went to London from Liverpool. Got my full fare back though!

Unrivalled · 12/05/2026 17:43

the west coast journey is beautiful - just as well given the delays! I read Jess Phillips's letter, amazing she held on for so long given the lack of action, sounds hugely frustrating.

I certainly think YC must be sick of KS popping up trying to do her job and not his...heard some toadie on PM on R4 slating Jess P and sounding really cheap, not sure what good she thought she was doing!

London’s a bit iffy these days, it’ll have to be one of the remaining red areas.

And yes King’s Speech tomorrow

Just read that AB is in secret meetings with Labour MPs this afternoon.

All the reasons people loathe Starmer and voted against Labour last week are on full display today.

It seems like the difficulty of overcoming the threshold for a leadership contest is what is keeping him in power at the moment.

By now the Tories would have had him out and off to the countryside somewhere.

It's not really a good look for Labour with him limping on.

Ooh I just saw that, I just realised journos must have camped out at Euston, can’t do anything in bloody secret these days 😬

Actually someone probably sent in a pic, but still

Love that Matt cartoon

Nuthatch26 · 12/05/2026 18:25

Connor Naismith, the Labour MP for Crewe Nantwich, said Sir Keir Starmer should not use the threat of market uncertainty to maintain the status quo.

The backbencher, who has called on the prime minister to go, told Times Radio: “Any prospective new leader would have to set out how the choices they would make could reassure the markets, etc. But the point that I would just very quickly make is that I think if that is your central argument for remaining in post, then you’ve lost the argument.

"We can’t just rely on, ‘we can’t change because the markets will go into turmoil’. That is not good enough, I’m afraid, for my constituents.”

Yes. It’s all very well Labour, and others, going on about Tory regicide and the ‘chaos’ of replacing PMs, but the Tories look to get rid of liabilities properly quickly.

The Tory party understands power and ambition and allows them to be snuffed out in a PM when they’re out of control and dangerous.

Labour is saddled with a terrible, terminally bad political loser. Starmer’s so useless that he will sink Labour for good. But the stupidity and party sentimentality of Labour has brought it to this paralysis and will kill it.
