A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙* *

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

@CandidLurker agree and we know his views on women etc.

Well there may be some amusement if he decides to hang on. I'm in no rush for a swing to the left frankly.

Yes this is the fear about the current situation.

Does he also come with a fake CV?

Nuthatch is knocking one up for him as we speak!

I imagine your dog would have more sense than to cripple the youth employment market!

Not sure about mine; he can be a bit thick! 🤣

Haha at these posts

Nuthatch26 · 12/05/2026 07:41

I need to laugh at times like these, keeps me sane.

I need to do some actual work, back in a bit.

Yes, I'm in the office today, so can't keep
up with you once I'm there. Can you all please go steady on the posting?!

MNLurker1345 · 12/05/2026 07:48

@Hallowedturf, well he did say he would if she did. But do you know what? I don’t believe him.

I can't imagine what kind of teflon coated ego you must have to have to be so widely disliked and just shrug it off.

But it is not about him is it? He is hanging on tooth and nail for the right of the party.

The fact that his speech didn’t calm the markets could be the push the right needs.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 12/05/2026 08:03

Starmer’s tantrumy toddler-like stubbornness and threats of a GE, which everyone knows full well would destroy Labour forever, confirms what I’ve always thought about the man. He is not is an honourable, unshowy servant of the people. He’s a supernaturally vain and arrogant person.

Even if this strategy worked (it won’t) how on earth does he think he’d command respect inside or outside his party? He’s damned himself and he’s damned Labour.

EasternStandard · 12/05/2026 08:07

Has KS said the GE thing? Not sure it’s serious rn. The tweet below from that MP is wrong, he can be replaced it’s not his personal mandate.

Hallowedturf · 12/05/2026 08:11

Yields are up nicely - 10 year has smashed through 5%.

It will screw his successor.

EasternStandard · 12/05/2026 08:27

Apparently if it hits 6% it’s panic stations, just listening to Times.

Streeting might ride in on that.

Hallowedturf · 12/05/2026 08:39

Just five constituencies in London paid more inheritance tax combined than the whole of Scotland and Wales put together, according to official data that highlights the UK Treasury’s dependence on Britain’s wealthy South East.

That would be the 30-year which is currently trading at 5.78%

I recall pre GE when anyone not Labour were hounded relentlessly, actually still are by some ;

That Starmer’s anti growth strategy would mean they couldn’t spend as wanted and the left would eventually take him out, and then the markets would do the same to the left. Let’s see

Telegraph:

"Rayner ally becomes first minister to quit Starmer’s government

A close ally of Angela Rayner has become the first of Sir Keir Starmer’s ministers to resign and call for his departure.
Miatta Fahnbulleh, who was a junior minister at the Ministry for Housing Communities and Local Government, left Sir Keir’s top team on Tuesday morning.
She said: “This morning I sent my letter of resignation to the Prime Minister. I urge the Prime Minister to do the right thing for the country and the party and set a timetable for an orderly transition.”"
