A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour* *government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Though of the known 97/101 declared results in Brum

  • Reform 22
  • Green 18
  • Conservative 16
  • Labour 16
  • Independent / Other 13
  • Lib Dem 12

should make for lots of interesting discussions.

boys3 · 08/05/2026 23:02

Waiting on Glebe Farm and Tile Cross ward and Bourneville and Cotteridge ward results.

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 08/05/2026 23:27

Labour at -1380

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 09/05/2026 01:39

Labour at -1395

I’m really pleased Labour have lost so much in London. To everyone else. They take it for granted and imo it probably hurts more as it’s seen as young and diverse in demographics.

There must still be councils to go, taking ages.

Hallowedturf · 09/05/2026 07:24

The sun is shining, everyone is still asleep at home, I’ve gone out to get pastries, and everything seems soooo much better in the world this morning!

I can see the sunlit uplands…

EasternStandard · 09/05/2026 07:38

It is great.

Wales is brutal for Starmer. They’ll demand he goes.

DancingFerret · 09/05/2026 08:13

Lucy Powell on the couch this morning being grilled by Charlie and Naga about Starmer resigning, "Let me be clear...blah, blah". There was no way she would say he needs to resign - not publicly, anyway.

No, they need him to drag his cowardly heels so they can get their ducks in a row.

Good morning 😁

Smiling at your pp @Hallowedturf. I may follow suit and grab some pastries this morning.

I've been doing some research on our new Reform councillor. He has a very impressive C.V. I hope he does some good locally.

Hoping Labour hit 1400 losses today. They seem more upset when they lose to the Greens. I suppose they can't out virtue signal a Green. 😂

I'm pleased that my town ousted all Labour councillors, but it's annoying that the council overall remains Labour. At least it's now more balanced, I suppose!

Yep I love that too 😬

It’ll hurt for them in London.

Mine only had a third up, but its a start.
Its annoying that they're allowed to just put a third or half up for election like that.

We usually have only 1/3 up, then other years it's either no election or all out. I'm not quite sure how it works!

Yes they're losing all of their strongholds. Good.

Shame for Andy Burnham that Labour have been routed in the NW. He must be panicking about finding a safe seat now. 🍿

Agree! If they v want to keep continuity they could do that with keeping day a quarter and reelecting 3/4

Ah ha. I found this article which explains it: merseynewslive.co.uk/2026/04/29/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-sefton-elections/

I think he'd still be safe(ish) in north Liverpool as South Sefton saved Labour for our council. As safe as he'd be anywhere, at least. Liverpool didn't vote this year, so we haven't had a test there.

MelanzaneParmigiana · 09/05/2026 09:52

Can I make a plea for him to be referred to her as King of Manchester on here /it really made my day when PPs coined that 😂😂😂

Edited

Thr self-styled King of the north 😂😂

I'll try and remember to use it if it gives you a chuckle.

Good to know, thanks. Bootle is one of the seats he is rumoured to have his eye on. Do you think he'd stand a chance there? Some Labour people seem to be over-egging his potential imo.

I was chatting to a bloke at work recently who was still mighty upset about the failed clean air zone AB tried to impose in GM. He had replaced his van (which he struggled to afford) right before the u turn.

Desperate Starmer is dishing jobs out to Harriet Harman and Gordon Brown this morning. 😂

And now ... enter Gordon Brown?
