A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour* *government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

@justasking111 first couple of constituencies in Wales suggest turnout up 7 to 8% compared to last time - suggesting overall turnout may be near 55%.

That's good news.

EasternStandard · 08/05/2026 10:16

Love that analysis includes the deep dislike of Starmer. Even if some won’t mention it.

That’s the best part.

Just had a peek at another thread. One poster is on a tear. She keeps repeating reform voters are morons and/or dumb. I'm surprised she hasn't had a slap on the wrist and a few deletions.

Gosh, has anyone told her that that doesn't sound like the words of a parent, supporting other parents? 🧐🧐

Meanwhile here in affluent Richmond where residents can afford luxury beliefs and are not impacted by immigration, the Lib Dems gained every seat… 😞

In slightly better news, five of those seats that were won by the LDs were taken from the Commies Greens!

Is it just me, or are the Greens not doing as well as expected? It's a small crumb, but it's pleasing, if so.

boys3 · 08/05/2026 10:25

Agree @zurigo their overnight results seemed relatively limited in terms of net gains.

zurigo · 08/05/2026 10:33

I'm quite amused too to see Farage begging Starmer NOT to step down 😆

Agreed. Pleased to see the greens lose ground in Richmond.

That is not a great look for Starmer.

Yes, I think I'm just trying not to be too hopeful about this incase I jinx it, but yes...I'm pleased that some of those places who voted old school Greenies have noted the new direction of the party.

Wow, she really is unpleasant. The OP is being so calm and rational in a difficult situation, which is making the poster more and more angry.

Love it.

Talk about rubbing his nose in it….

Lucky for Labour it was only 1/3 up for election.

a number of all out elections in the Red Wall areas counting today in those bigger metropolitan and unitary councils. My quick skim suggests in those bigger councils with all out elections counting today Labour had near 700 councillors going into this election. Given results in places like Wigan and Tameside I can almost see that 700 being nearer 70 by teatime. Fingers crossed.

Then the likes of Manchester, Leeds, North Tyneside, Rochdale etc have 1/3 up with counting getting underway.

I said that re Wigan to my friend, whose mum is in that area. If it had been all-out, they'd have lost control.

Looking at the seat losses, Labour are losing control of more councils with their losses, but Cons aren't losing control of as many (and even gained 1 so far).

It's a bad day for them indeed.

All the Labour lot were saying the losses for the Tories would be as bad as for Labour but so far I don’t think that’s true.

GiaGia16 · 08/05/2026 11:19

Sorry just seen @NoWordForFluffy post, agree Conservatives not done that badly

EasternStandard · 08/05/2026 11:20

My favourite line so far: they are losing to everyone everywhere.

And the stuff about people loathing KS

Ward in Welwyn Hatfield Herts Labour gone from over 50% of the vote in last election to just 7% this morning.

SapphireCasino · 08/05/2026 11:40

Morning all

I'm slightly unclear how far through it we are. Interesting to see that Harlow council has gone entirely Conservative. I was not expecting that in Essex, where I am. Makes me wonder what my council will do but I suspect it will go Reform.

very much hope that the Greens don't do as well as I feared they would.

@Parsley4321 well done on finally having a date - that is utterly mad! 16 months!

boys3 · 08/05/2026 11:43

3757 seats still to go plus all of Wales and Scotland @SapphireCasino 😄

boys3 · 08/05/2026 11:50

Good result in Harlow though. 5 conservative seats gained from Labour. Was 17-15-1 Con Lab Ref now 22-10-1

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 08/05/2026 11:51

How big was the shift in Westminster?
