I think 8 conservative gains, 6 Labour losses and 2 Reform losses. 32-22 Con-Lab in terms of that council

Gosport quite interesting only one third up. Nine gains by Reform but 7 of these taken from Lib Dem’s.

Sandwell - suggestions that Reform will take 60 of 72 seats. Labour went into election with 60 seats there.

To correct myself Gosport was 1/2 up for election not 1/3.

Hackney is very Asian - I suspect that was the Palestinian vote.

Not great for Kemi at Essex County Council. 54 seats declared so far Reform have taken 39, 30 of these from the Conservatives. Labour only had 6 seats there to start with and currently have lost the 2 that have so far been declared.

40% turnout in Hackney mayoral. 47% for the winning candidate

First Scottish declaration - Orkney - Labour managed 199 votes, or 2% of vote, although not hugely worse than last time. Lid Dem held it very comfortably with 7221 votes. SNP vote down 13%

To add Labour won with over 60% of vote last time. This time down 24%.

Manchester - just 8 seats declared so far. Labour have lost 6. Only 32 up for grabs though.

In huge breaking news from Scotland - the Lib Dems have held Orkney.

I was watching the BBC coverage last night. One thing stood out more than anything in the ‘doorstep’ accounts and the lament of a losing Labour councillor: voters detest Starmer very, very strongly.

Unless Labour gets rid of him they have no hope. He’s killing them.

The flip side of course is that if Labour can summon up the courage to get him out soon, and they use some decent judgement for once when they choose a successor, Labour could come back. If they dither and Starmer does dig in, they’re done for, very possibly for good.

Come on Sir Keir, fight your ground, stay, give no quarter, hang on in there!
