Hahaha, kamikaze dolphin X post.

The seals were suspended after being caught betting on Polymarket.

Talking of polymarket, some further arrests on insider trading suspicions....

The fertilizer crisis has definitively been quietly creeping up on us.
The figures for the US predictions are terrifying. And that farms may have to keep fields unplanted....... crazy shit.

Keep quiet ‘so we don’t go to jail’: the Israelis charged with bribery after suspicious bets placed on Iran strikes

Authorities allege that Omer Ziv and an unnamed air force major used classified information to bet on the timing of military operations on Polymarket

@RedTagAlan yep and it’ll be South Pars they’ve got their eye on - Trump’s Qatari mates want it all.

MushMonster · 07/05/2026 07:32

RedTagAlan · 07/05/2026 07:01

Yup. And it looks like it might have been Saudi Arabia that knocked his "Project Freedom" on it's head.

The report was from NBC, but technical difficulties mean I can't link ( Its blocked). Here is an alternate.

Saudi Arabia Blocks US Military Access Amid Project Freedom Dispute (timesofislamabad.com)

I am noticing a subtle shift in the CNN feed since Trump made his "treason" comment. That's anecdotal of course.

If that report is true, then it looks like folk are getting fed up with Trumps fucking about.

I think US will face refusals of access across the globe following the greatest fuck up in history, under the leadership of Trump and the defeaning silence of Congress, the US military and any democratic institution in US...
But it still surprises me when it happens!

How do you work that out ?

Genuine question. I have not seen anything re conflicting claims. Not in terms of this war anyway.

RedTagAlan · 07/05/2026 08:24

And nowt is being officially said. All the states involved are authoritarian after all. Including the current WH regime.

MushMonster · 07/05/2026 08:40

Indeed. We think we have democracy, but is it? We vote, some bloke gets elected and promises vanish into thin air. Nada.

Today UK is voting on local elections.
Starmer's party, who currently has a good number of seats across the country, is expected to lose bigly, like really bigly!
UK is burning through PM like there is no tomorrow. Issues are huge. Trump best friend here, Farage may win in quite a few parts of UK. His party, Reform does not seem to have a plan for anything, bar getting rid of foreigners...... and some of them talk a great deal of BS from medieval books...
It is going to be "UK midterms" kind of thing.
Yet, the politicians are more concerned about keeping their seats than sorting the real problems. Keeping their money flowing, but no care for the citizens. Some are intelligent enough to stick out and publically declare that people should vote to avoid the rise of Reform. They are getting some heat today, but they show care, enough to sacrifice their seat, for the good of the country. They are but a handful.
UK political landscape is going to change, likely forever, and professional politicians are not even aware! I do not get in which world they live.
We have a good option in our area. Going to bet for them. New, fresh, uncorrupted, still in touch with reality. Let's cross our fingers that they stay as they are!

logicisall · 07/05/2026 08:47

Qatar and Iran have unequal shares of South Pars, and with mutual investments in the field there is no reason for Qatar to try to take over the Iranian part. Qatar has the majority share while Iran depends on their SP gas for domestic use and has never expressed an interest in full ownership. Do sea limits apply and why rock the boat and face the inevitably destructive consequences?

eta that Qatar is a bit persona not grata with Saudi too.

Efacsen · 07/05/2026 09:17

IDK didn't the Iranian part of SP get badly damaged in the bombing - perhaps Qatar are in a better position financially to re-build it

Wipeywipey · 07/05/2026 09:23

Whatever this one page negotiation document has on it, I hope Iran recognise whatever US says Israel doesnt always agree or go along with.. I am amazed they are not demanding they are in the room at the very least. I wouldnt trust US to negotiate with the same intentions as their partners in this illegal war.

SerendipityJane · 06/05/2026 23:46

I know I could Google it, but is teh US self sufficient in food to start with ?

The less thick of us will know that Great Britain made a strategic and permanent decision to eschew food self sufficiency in order to make money. Anyone who wibbles on about "growing our own food" is either stupid, ignorant or grifting. Possibly simultaneously.

The short answer is yes, but not without imported fertiliser, and forward planning in terms of crops. So while the country could survive there could be shortages and, without question, everything will be more expensive.

The longer answer is that it's complicated - I notice, for example, when we're at our house in the US in the summer, there's imported lettuce in the supermarket when they are quite literally growing lettuce a mile down the road. But the lettuce from down the road is fragile, more expensive and not available in bulk, so shrink-wrapped lettuce from Mexico it is. Same with brussels sprouts in November being from Portugal. And then there's the issue of the states being huge, so trucking produce from California to New Hampshire is going to be extremely expensive in the face of rising gas prices...

walllaw · 07/05/2026 09:41

I do wish all reputable news organisations would stop referring to this as Project Freedom. Just call it war, or Trump's illegal war, or Trump's stupid fucking war, whatever. But stop sanitising it.

In don't think so. Only pipeline and processing infrastructure were hit rather than damage to the offshore gas reservoir itself. Some units were repaired quickly and production continued at reduced or rerouted capacity.

DancingFerret · 07/05/2026 09:49

Frank Gardner just stated what we all know - you can't believe anything Trump says.

Sadly, though, it appears the majority of his non-passport holding US supporters still think he's the Second Coming.

More and more I'm siding with the Venezuelans who think that Trump needed VZ before attacking Iran.

And Cuba ?

logicisall · 07/05/2026 10:02

Ahhh, Cuba. For his ego, so he can say, "not even the great John F Kennedy could do this". And it plays to his Cuban-American fan base. I believe that the plan is to put Rubio in charge of Cuba to show American dominance of the region.

I hear that Putin has been hiding in a bunker lately, so no idea of how they would react to a Cuban invasion.
And again the importance of Vz oil. Cuba depends on it.

SerendipityJane · 07/05/2026 10:06

Sorry, but if I was planning anything, that short answer is actually "no" then.

Yes I can. And that makes me suspicious :-)

Ibrahim Jukkarwala. Founder and editor. And it appears he is the main writer too. Can't find info on funding, but he appears to pass the "state media" test. Then again, this does look a very new site. So that would explain that test pass.

At the moment, I won't give this site a sniff test pass. Not yet.

Aha, that old paranoia. But it's not actual Paranoia. A certain country has loads of these sites. Not owned or run by the country, but funded. Used to run pro Party angle articles at some point. They are sleepers mostly. Doing regular articles yes, but that can be to appear legitimate.

logicisall · 07/05/2026 10:55

On US farmers and their crops. At least they won't have to worry about finding new markets for their soya bean crop after Trump's tariffs made China say 'no thanks' and they found alternative sources.

And on the SoH EU/UK clean up team, shouldn't that be Trump's MFC team gearing up for the reopening. Or is it that no one's joined.

He's not wrong on what he's said on Cuba, as its a more of a drawing together of info already in the open. So a summary. He should have linked to his sources.

Ted Turner.

Trump TRUTHED this apparently:

Ted Turner, one of the Greats of All Time, just died. He founded CNN, sold it, and was personally devastated by the Deal because the new ownership took CNN, his ‘baby,’ and destroyed it. It became woke, and everything that he is not all about,”

So ok about him, but got a dig at CNN.

But apparently, the latter part of his TRUTH is BS as usual:

"But Turner had not criticized CNN for any perceived political bias in its coverage — and the media mogul and philanthropist, who was once married to Jane Fonda, embraced many progressive causes."

He did however say he regretted selling it, because he wanted news not fluff. So I reckon Trump gets a bare pass.

Trump Claims Ted Turner Was ‘Devastated’ CNN Became ‘Woke’; President Hopes Ellisons Can ‘Bring It Back to Its Former Credibility’

These are local elections, they have no bearing on parliamentary members.

Even if labour lose control of every local council everywhere in the country, Labour will still hold the biggesr number of parliamentary seats.

A change of leader with the world being in this state of flux, with Trump fucking everyone over and the hard right pushing their agenda would be a mistake. I would hope that our MPs would be smart enough not to act with such stupidity.

The reform and tory bollocks of call an election is either shit stirring or naivety. Badenoch and Farage don't come across as too bright so it could be either.
