At this point it's a just 'he said/she said' and confusing and contradictory reports. A ship hit, no it wasn't. US hit a ship, no they didn't. Iran hit a ship, no they didn't. Open/closed. Escorting/Not a chance. And for all the verified and real time reports we get, news may as well be being delivered by a runner from Marathon or Pony Express.

It does make sense in asymmetric warfare. Drones will be no problem for destroyers with CIWS , but against a land target it will be using up the defensive ammo again.

CWIS is a radar directed computer controlled gatling gun system. Cheap ammo, and accurate. Drones against a city likely mean patriot interceptors.

Having said that, the sea is rather crowded, so CIWS could do a fair bit of collateral damage. So maybe it's because UAE have been most hawkish ?

I expect we need to wait for Trump to TRUTH the reason.

I have been confused at the media visual blackout on this too - earlier the BBC were about 20mins behind Al Jazeera with the alleged firing at the US Navy and no video at all despite it being the place the entire world is interested in watching. Is it some kind of US ban so they don't know where their ships are?

Edit to add the drone attack is suspicious to me. I don't see why they would suddenly decide to do that when they have been assured their neighbours won't allow US to use their airspaces.

I believe that under the excuse of "fact checking" the BBS tries to put it's spin on the reality by not reporting on some events as quickly or closely as others.

It's also got a little habit of reporting "news" as what other news outlets are reporting, rather than the base events.

On Polymarket you bet on predictions. There's been a lot of insider trading by people in the Trump administration and family who know specifics on when things will happen eg Venezuela invasion

The restart of attacks in Iranian war has caused the price of oil to surge and in the US, there was already talk of a future increase in interest rate to cool inflation. This is more likely now with higher oil prices, so on Polymarket, they will be betting on when the interest rate will go up.
