What is something you do even though you know it isn’t good for you?

Sunbathing/not avoiding the sun. I’ve been an outdoors/beach person my whole life. I love nothing more than a hot sunny day outside, swimming, hiking, day at the beach. I don’t want to cover up and hide away from the sun. I don’t want a big hat and sitting in the shade.

I know I have and will continue to age quicker. I know the risk of skin cancer is higher. But on this one I don’t care, the quality of my life is more important to me.

So what are yours?

Sunbathing, junk food and according to my GP shaving. I had an infected hair follicle in my armpit, he gave me antibiotics and it got better but he told me to stop shaving, which is OK in the winter but i can't bring myself to go natural in the summer.

Waxing

Booze. Not lots, at least.

mooshkymoo · Yesterday 11:08

Drink tea late at night. I don’t even like it that much now after pregnancy / perimenopause. But I somehow feel cheated if I don’t have one.

oh dear. I just read this back and almost deleted it, it’s so tragic. I’ve left it on here in case anyone is feeling particularly boring, and needs to feel more exciting than someone else. This one’s on me ☺️

Another diet coke addict here. I can get through two of more two litre bottles per week. Not a tea or coffee drinker and don't like water, so i drink nothing else.

PrincessHoneysuckle · Yesterday 11:16

A can of energy drink every morning at work.
I only have that and a coffee at 6.30am but god knows what they put in those things.
Alchohol at the weekend.

Me, too! I do drink the sugar free Red Bull, though. And I’ve been a crisp addict all my life. That’s not going to change!

Same @MaidOfSteel sugar free and I don’t really drink coffee or tea so it’s my only caffeine hit (see even here I’m justifying 😅).

Just can’t beat a salty crunchy it!

Sugar, alcohol, take aways.

You can prise my Diet Coke out of my cold dead hands 🤣

Oh, same!

Livpool · Yesterday 11:45

I drink too much

I don’t know that there is much evidence that Diet Coke is very bad for you but it almost certainly can’t be good for you because it seems to contain no nutrients at all- the ingredients are chemicals I’ve never heard of 😂 It’s likely very bad for teeth (even though it doesn’t contain sugar) and bad for stomach lining too I should imagine. I love it though and find it hard to give up.

On a positive note though it doesn’t stain your teeth like coffee according to my dentist.

Reading and posting on here.

Too much time taken up, frustrated by the ‘click bait’ threads, frustrated by stereotyping, hate that good advice is covered by loads that isn’t, from posters who really don’t know, advice that never appears to be heeded.

Also get quite upset by the rudeness and antagonistic posters who just want to be awful to others for the sake of it.

Alcohol
Sunbathing
Way too much butter
Cotton buds in my ears...

I drink at least 5 cans of Coke Zero (must be Coke Zero!) every day.

I drink about 4 normal Cokes a day, swap it with lemonade sometimes. I also like the sun but less as I’m getting older.
I love “old school” British food, cake, roasts, hot puddings etc.
Never smoked and barely drink, although loved being on the lash in my teens/ early 20s. Used to be a gymnast and a dancer in my younger years but time has caught up with me, and I creak like an old door now!
I take 6 tablets a day for various conditions but I’m still here in my mid 60s.
If I wake up each morning and can still walk & talk, I’m good for another day!
Life can be very short and very cruel, so I make the most of each day, and a bit of what I fancy does me good!😉

LemograssLollipop · Yesterday 12:25

Rubbish sleep routine. I will either go to bed at a reasonable time then doomscroll for hours or fall asleep on sofa, wake up at 3, then have to check kitchen for stuff that needs to go in the fridge/ turn off lights etc, go to bed at 5am and then not up before the kids so mornings are rushed and stressy🤦🏽‍♀️

Vape
copious amounts of fizzy juice
sunbathing

No exercise
Too much salt in my diet but I bloody love it

Wynter25 · Yesterday 12:36

I am fascinated! What is it with the Diet Coke. Is it bad for you?

I am asking genuinely as I have never drunk a can of any coke.

I do drink a glass or two or three of wine every day. I do all the healthy things and have never considered my wine consumption unhealthy. I love it!

Diet coke is very bad for you

Terrible diet.

I’m not overweight but I love nothing more than a McDonald’s or a cheese sandwich (white bread, plenty of lurpack, mature cheddar) a side of kettle chips followed by a a bag of sour patch kids, all washed down with a Diet Coke.

I don’t eat enough veg, barely any fruit. Too many carbs, too much red meat, love bacon and biscuits.

I have my shit together elsewhere in my life - great job, exercise regularly, volunteer, spend time doing yoga, meditating and journaling. I’m the sort of person who is described as put together and on top of it.

But my diet is like that of a teenage boy who has been give £100 to feed himself for a weekend and is shopping in spar!

JLou08 · Yesterday 13:05

Using social media. Complete waste of my time, screen time is not good for my mental health or my eyes. I don't even find it all that entertaining, yet I'm still here when I could be doing much better things.

feckingcat · Yesterday 13:18

Sugar, crisps, I’ve cut down a lot on alcohol as that now does feel poisonous to my peri body.
Not following up for smears (been with my husband 30 years) and stopped having them during Covid.
Staying a bit overweight and definitely not doing any formal exercise and not enough walking - spend too much time sat down in work or on my comfy sofa.
