What is something you do even though you know it isn’t good for you?

Sunbathing/not avoiding the sun. I’ve been an outdoors/beach person my whole life. I love nothing more than a hot sunny day outside, swimming, hiking, day at the beach. I don’t want to cover up and hide away from the sun. I don’t want a big hat and sitting in the shade.

I know I have and will continue to age quicker. I know the risk of skin cancer is higher. But on this one I don’t care, the quality of my life is more important to me.

So what are yours?

It’s not just lung cancer though. Several of the older smokers I know have/had emphysema, 3 died as a result. Of the remaining, one has early stage and is on medication, and the other is on 24 x 7 portable oxygen and now has lung lesions as well. It is an unpleasant way to live, and a difficult death.

And in my mum’s case esophageal cancer.

I’m with you on the weed front, absolutely vile stuff!

Bring back pipe smoking I say - use to love the smell of my Grandads.

I hate the smell of cigarettes, but weed just smells like incense to me. I kind of like it. Just
hope nobody’s driving while high.

Snacking on unhealthy food. I eat really healthy meals cooked from scratch and enjoy healthy meals but I also love crisps, cake and nuts! 😅

Me too!

seanconneryseyebrow · 28/04/2026 12:09

Ready meals. I’m lazy and they are brilliant and super tasty. I’m not gonna stop.

I think the full sugar version of Coke has got to be better for you than artificially sweetened versions surely ?
I very rarely have fizzy drinks , but I’d prefer to have a very occasional full sugar version.
The artificially sweetened versions are just as bad for your teeth as the regular version anyway .

Yes I think artificial sweeteners (poison) are worse than the sugar versions of drinks. If we ever have pop in the house or takeaway, we ALWAYS get the 'full fat' version and I encourage my DC to do the same.

Used to be drinking but I quit over 2 years ago. Now it’s taking codeine based painkillers daily. I know they’re for short term use only but I crave the feeling they give me. Really need to tackle this problem.

Please address this. It can have a serious deadly outcome x

redfairy · 28/04/2026 19:18

Skin picking. It's constant and I'm covered in scars. I need mittens 😆

and if you avoid cancer, COPD.

DontGoChasinWaterfalls · 28/04/2026 20:51

Drinking Redbull
Taking wegovy and just eating one meal a day
Getting DD7 to walk on my back and crack in
Bossman chicken and chips meal when I'm child free for a weekend

I’ve eliminated alcohol and caffeine. I don’t smoke or sunbathe but I can’t keep my hand out of the biscuit tin.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 29/04/2026 07:07

@user1497787065 I’m terrible for biscuits. Certain ones I just had to stop buying. Fruit shortcakes for a start. SO moreish!

Delatron · 29/04/2026 08:17

A bit of sunbathing is good for us. Obviously within reason - not burning and not for hours at a time. But we need sun exposure. I personally think we’ve gone too far the other way.

I’ll accept it’s not good for ageing. Hence it’s factor 50 and a hat for my face!

I just think the “bad” things are fine in moderation. I don’t drink fizzy drinks or smoke. I do like nice wine in the garden at the weekends sun bathing and a couple of squares of dark chocolate in the evening. I’m just not prepared to give up these pleasures!

Can’t have biscuits in the house I just eat them all.

Fairyliz · 29/04/2026 10:21

Wishing I was young again. I’m just waiting to die now, I have no energy no enthusiasm and everything is just too difficult.

Bryonyberries · 29/04/2026 10:34

My job - it is making my knee pain worse. I should really look for a new role.

Alcohol and snacks such as crisps.

Not enough exercise (because of the joint pain).

maftaz · 25/04/2026 19:08

Watching stupid very entertaining cop cams on FB videos until all hours when I should be asleep. Just one more, just one more. Addictive, and I shouldn't.

I'm the same with Supernanny and playing pointless games on my phone.

Cocktailglass · 29/04/2026 21:54

Wasn't sure whether to answer because mine are baaaad...Drinking and smoking. I'm pretty good at the other stuff but know my vices outweigh the benefits of other healthy choices.
