Schrödinger's Strait - Trump Thread #162A

Spandauer · 19/04/2026 14:58

The Strait of Schrödinger remains open and closed, safe and dangerous, insurable and uninsurable, blockaded and free.

"You put your tanker in, you put your tanker out
In, out, in, out, you sail it all about
You do the Straits of Hormuz and you turn around
That’s what it’s all about!"

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

Got overwhelmed by the 🍊💩's idiot fuckery last time and missed out thread #161 so have designated this one as fake #162...A

So the current situation is that the US are stating talks taking place monday evening, but Tehran rejecting a second round of talks on the basis that the US position is maximalist and unworkable?

Going by what has unfolded previously, I think both sides are posturing for their intended audiences, and that things are happening behind the scenes.

Spandauer · 19/04/2026 18:07

To go with the talk of military spending.

Pretty much. Because once things go into classified territory, nobody knows what that extra $120 mil was for. It's classified.

Elizabeth Holmes comes to mind. She was really only caught and jailed because of who she conned. To me it just shows how the "greatest minds on earth" are still caught by false claims and fake science. And technically, many of those she conned have far bigger brains than purchasers in the Pentagon.

@Spandauer Art skool people are smart. They bypass the stuff that makes their brains hurt but access all the science knowledge by marrying it.

I know a large non-Asian family with two doctors, a lawyer, a nurse, a certified accountant, a dentist, an IT specialist, an actuary, a banker, and a quantity surveyor. Top planning skills!

I'm so so angry at what the halfwits in the White House have done to the world. Trump must be making it up as he goes along. Why does he keep saying everything is going well, when the opposite is clearly true.

The fact my hardworking son is losing money because of the petrol costs is making me incandescent with rage.

All that is way over my head. Crap at Maths & Physics.😩

The inverse square law that Jane mentions is a favorite of flat the clever flat earthers. They claim that the law should mean that the surface of the moon is too hot for people to be on. Therefore all fake. Moon lander conspiracists don't really get into it.

Don't do yourself down.

I get irrationally cross with people who start out anything saying "Oh, I couldn't do that". Because then it mysteriously turns out ... they can't.

Anyway, as long as you can hold the concept of the concept of "squaring" (that is multiplying a number by itself) you should be able to grasp this fundamental concept of nature.

Which is that as the distance between 2 points increases, then the radiated energy needed to cover that distance reduces by the square of the distance.

So
1 mile away delivers 1 unit of energy.
2 miles away delivers 1/4 unit of energy (because 2x2=4)
3 miles away delivers 1/9 unit of energy (because 3x3=9)
and so on ...

So to get a killer punch of energy to travel a good distance means you need to start with what engineers would call a "fucktonne" of energy.

Thanks for the new thread @Spandauer

As far as science, I loved biology but I think I slept though most of chemistry. And physics? Nope, not my cup of tea. Too many numbers and stuff.

Although I do remember my HS chemistry teacher showing us how to make 'homemade napalm' with soap flakes and gasoline. And telling us how to synthesize LSD, but leaving out one step. Not that we could have gotten our hands on the ingredients anyway. See what you learnt if you went to HS in the early '70s?

I haven't even turned the TV on yet today. But it sounds like the status quo is still the status quo. Although I notice he didn't threaten genocide in his 'truth'. Yet.

Yes. We have a saying at DP's work - "BBB..." stands for 'Bullshit Baffles Brains'. Seen time and time again in local, national and international government and big corporations. Although quite how much active cerebral matter exists in the White House is anyone's guess.

As a matter of interest Jane. Re the pilot rescue, and the planes getting stuck in the sand that @Spandauer mentioned. As you are good at urban legends, is it true that the helicopter loss during the Bin Laden mission was because the mock compound used to rehearse had wire fences rather than brick walls ? And the solid walls changed the downdraft so crash ?

I have a feeling that this rescue will turn out to not be what was claimed.

Haven't really heard that one. However it has that ring of truth that doesn't make it batshit.

I have seen reporting that Trump was prevented from accessing the mission to rescue the downed aircrew. Because the military were terrified he'd blab.

He did blab. He said the CIA were at work in Iran. And the stuff about guns for the Kurds. How many arrests did that result in ? Especially the CIA claim.

I have a vague memory of a South Korean team that claimed a new room temp superconductor. The PRC claimed to have repeated the experiment with the same results. But the South Korean team were proven to be frauds. Egg on faces with that.

I believe the PRC are building a Hyperloop. It was reported. Enough said on that :-)

As far as I recall there are quite high temperature (sort of just below 0C) superconductors. However they're really just oddities until there is a manufacturing process that can make wires of them.

Also it's rather annoying that we can't quite working out why things have this property (see also magnetism).

However for the art school crowd, the TL;DR is that superconductors are a game changer in the world of electricity and electronics. 2 immediate applications would be much more efficient electricity generation (so less fuel needed) and the ability to distribute energy over vast distances with no losses.

At which point a girdle of global solar power piped wherever needed becomes possible.

?The loss of the "special helo"?

Once the story started getting out about the raid a lot of helicopter folks I know started muttering "oh, sounds awfully like vortex ring" and I think that's now widely recognised as the cause.

You'd expect the effect to be worse in an enclosed area.vs. one enclosed by chain link..

News that that Cuba is in need of, and being sent, humanitarian aid as result of the US's blockade. Blockading seems to be Chump's answer to everything - he's going to starve everyone unless he's stopped...somehow.

So I am, I just came on now to ask why, if everyone with more than half a brain acknowledges that there is a sick demented human being masquerading as the Leader of the Free World, has he not been removed from post?

Also, thank you for the new thread, @Spandauer, excellent first post!

The world is uniting against Donald Trump. This week made that impossible to ignore. On Saturday, the leaders of Mexico, Brazil, Spain, Colombia, South Africa, and Uruguay stood together in Barcelona at a summit built specifically to counter him.
Spain’s Pedro Sánchez told the crowd: “They know their vision of how the world should be ordered is falling apart. From now on, they can be the ones who feel ashamed.” Mexico and Spain shook hands for the first time in years, setting aside a longstanding colonial dispute to stand in the same room against the same man.
Brazil’s Lula said the UN is broken because “the countries that created it do not respect it.” He was talking about one person.
Trump responded by attacking Sánchez on social media.
Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney, who just turned a minority government into a majority by running explicitly against Trump, declared at Davos in January that the world is experiencing “a rupture, not a transition.” He looked at the camera and said: “We know the old order is not coming back.”
In Hungary, Trump’s closest European ally just lost in a landslide. Vance flew to Budapest to campaign for him. Trump posted “I AM WITH HIM ALL THE WAY.” It wasn’t enough. Now even Nigel Farage and Italy’s Meloni are distancing themselves. Being seen with Trump is becoming a liability across Europe, including for the European far right.
In Ireland, a protester took a hatchet to a U.S. military aircraft at Shannon Airport. Spain closed its airspace to American warplanes. NATO allies refused to send ships to the Strait of Hormuz despite direct demands from the White House.
The Pope told reporters from a plane bound for Africa: “I have no fear of the Trump administration, or speaking out loudly.”
And in the Bronx on Saturday, Barack Obama sat on the floor of a childcare center with New York City’s mayor and read to three-year-olds. One week after Trump said the government can’t afford daycare.
The most powerful man in the world is losing in every room across it.

Thanks to the Trumpian strategy of hogging the news cycle, plus partisan reporting, a lot of changes simply cant be reported on.

This means when the whole thing crumbles, a lot of MAGAnauts who were protected from it will be convinced there is a dastardly plot. They might even feel they were stabbed in the back ....
