The Strait of Schrödinger remains open and closed, safe and dangerous, insurable and uninsurable, blockaded and free.

"You put your tanker in, you put your tanker out
In, out, in, out, you sail it all about
You do the Straits of Hormuz and you turn around
That’s what it’s all about!"

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

Got overwhelmed by the 🍊💩's idiot fuckery last time and missed out thread #161 so have designated this one as fake #162...A

Well MTG might be batshit, but at least she's not licking Trump's arse like so many others are.
Hmmm. Maybe my bar's dropped a tad low.

Trump didn't change. Marge just ignored the warning signs

She is a classic example of "my enemy's enemy is NOT my friend".

Ahh, this moves so fast. Thank you for the new thread, @Spandauer .Haven't even checked what's going on today except for the Euro rate has dropped some, so he must have done something stoopid. Off to purchase while the rate is slightly better, then will come catch up on the madness. (and try to reassure DD that I won't get stuck in Europe when the jet fuel runs out)

Definitely. That interview performance could easily fool you into thinking that she could now somehow be a 'rational' Republican.
("It's all relative" as my old DF would say)

Just had to read her Wikipedia entry to re-familiarise myself and give my head a bloody big wobble.

They decided to send Vance to the negotiatons in Islamabad again? Have Iran confirmed yet if they are going to be there.

They decided to send Vance to the negotiatons in Islamabad again? Have Iran confirmed yet if they are going to be there.

Latest from NYT

Despite sending mixed signals in recent days, both the United States and Iran gave clearer indications on Monday that they were planning to send negotiators to peace talks in Pakistan this week.
Vice President JD Vance is expected to leave Washington for Islamabad on Tuesday, according to two U.S. officials, and two Iranian officials said that Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the influential political and military figure who attended the last round of talks, would attend if Mr. Vance also did. The new round of talks had been in doubt as the countries traded threats over the weekend, and as their two-week cease-fire neared its expiration.
Both countries’ presidents have reiterated their hardened stances. President Trump said Monday on social media that “if Iran’s new leaders (Regime Change!) are smart, Iran can have a great and prosperous future!” And Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran’s president, said that continuing the war “benefits no one,” but followed up with a post saying that there was “deep historical mistrust” looming over the upcoming talks.
The conflicting signals echoed those Iran sent before the first round of talks, which ended without an agreement to end the war. Iran had cast doubt on those negotiations even taking place, only for its delegation to arrive hours later.

Oh, come on, they’re* acting in bad faith, Vance can’t even talk peace with a Pope, he’s hardly likely to be able to accomplish any sort of agreement with a nation prepared to go to war.

From Occupy Democrats on FB. When it says “Breaking”, it could have been any time in the past few weeks, but anyway, here it is.

"BREAKING: Kamala Harris unleashes the most BRUTAL takedown of Trump to date — shredding him for his utter incompetence, for getting dragged into a pointless war by Netanyahu, and for covering up the Epstein scandal.
Imagine where we'd be if this brilliant woman were president instead....
"We are dealing with the most corrupt, callous, and incompetent presidential administration in the history of the United States. Period," the former vice president told a Democratic women's group in Michigan.
"And so on this list of what is empirical evidence of that point, let's talk about this war," she said. "He entered a war, got pulled into it by Bibi Netanyahu, let's be clear about that, entered a war that the American people do not want, putting at risk American service members."
On that point, there can be no arguing. No American interests were at stake and according to our own intelligence agencies, Iran posed no imminent threat to us and was not pursuing nuclear weapons. Trump launched this war because Netanyahu asked him to. Netanyahu asked him to because he wants to reduce Iran to a rubble-strewn failed state so that Israel has one less regional adversary opposing their territorial expansion into Gaza, Lebanon, and beyond. Trump has transformed the U.S. military into Netanyahu's personal hit squad.
"And among the many consequences of it, it includes jacking up the cost of gas so that on average Americans are paying at least $15 more to fill up their tank," said Harris. "Diesel costs 50% more, so that's what fuels a semi, a truck, that otherwise delivers our food and our household items. And where do we think that cost is going to land? It's on the consumer."
Again, Harris is zeroing in on what matters most to Americans. Trump promised to lower grocery prices. Instead, he came into office and immediately skyrocketed the cost of everything through his disastrous tariffs. Now he's pushing those prices even further with his pointless, illegal war.
"Let's understand that it is also, as he is want to do, and has always been, his feeble attempt to distract from the Epstein files, okay?" said Harris. "Let's understand it is his attempt to walk around as he is want to do, this insecure man, to walk around as though he is strong and will use the force of America's military against anyone whom he chooses."
"And to your point, when I served as Vice President of the United States, I met with over a hundred and fifty world leaders, presidents, prime ministers, chancellors, and kings, many of them multiple times, and I formed relationships," said Harris. "I have spent countless hours in the Situation Room, in my West Wing office in the White House, and steps down the hall in the Oval Office."
"And I will tell you, this president is the first president of the United States of either party since World War II, to abandon America's responsibility to one, a responsibility we assumed, imperfect though we are, to nurture and and protect our alliances, our friendships, and to thumb his nose at them," she continued.
"And two, to not even pretend and in fact dismiss the importance of upholding international rules and norms, such as sovereignty and territorial integrity," Harris went on. "And the end result, because I know we have limited time, is this, what he has done is he has one, in the eyes of our allies, made us unreliable, and two, he has eroded whatever influence we had to be able to speak to certain issues, imperfect though we know we have been."
This last point cannot be stressed enough. America may never fully recover from the reputational damage that Trump has inflicted on us. The rest of the world now sees that we are always just one bad election from having a demented, bloodthirsty, pedophiliac Republican in the White House. Other nations are beginning to see China, authoritarian though it may be, as a far more stable partner. There is exactly one path out of this nightmare we find ourselves in, and that's to elect Democrats across the board to begin unwinding the MAGA damage as best they can."

That's not written by Trump. There is no way he would have the wars' durations in his head, and no way he'd look them up to check.

I wonder what China is thinking. They need Iranian oil so it's in their interest for the war to end asap. China is pragmatic and playing the long game. Russia is making $150M a day selling oil at current prices.
But... and there are so many buts:
Russia/Iran alliance
China/Iran alliance
Israel/US alliance
Iran/Houthis

India/Japan/South Korea in dire energy straits

I need a huge board with a diagram like investigators have showing connections amongst the suspects in a case.

Might first thoughts were, the language is too 'high' for Trump. He didn't write that.

Yes I need one too - With multi coloured post it notes.

Or something similar to the one in the **Cabinet War Rooms with models of ships and leaders to push around.

** I think I saw one there or maybe it was Bletchley Park or similar!

I also read that Brasil has ended a rare earths mineral deal with China and signed a new one with the US. It includes a clause that all processing must be done in Brasil, which might be a little problematic for Chinese dominance to continue in the long term.

I'm looking at which countries will start aligning themselves with the US now that their oil stocks are getting low.
Or will they just keep calling for peace while trying to stay neutral.

WTF

Russia has offered to mediate between the US and Iran in the war negotiations, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced.
