A whole civilisation will die tonight.

Tumps exact words today!

WTAF? That sounds like he is about to drop a Nuke!

How the hell has the world got here?

Trumps truth social posts sounds more like something that a dramatic gleeful tv presenter would say in a game show. Not something a world leader threatening to blow up an entire civilisation.

Oh well that’s alright then.

Just as long as he’s starving the populace to death slowly by taking out power and roads, and bombarding their houses relentlessly, and not literally “destroying civilization”, we can all sleep easy in our beds tonight.

🤡

Yawn.

I didn't say that so you're the clown.

Aprilgorgeousness · 07/04/2026 17:59

Oh come on, he's just bluffing.. I can't ever imagine this being true...in milions years.. he said things like this before...

I think one of the really worrying things is that the checks and balances that were around Trump in his first administration are no longer there now and he has surrounded himself with clueless sycophants 😕

His tariffs were judged illegal, that is a check and balance, there may still be moves to remove him for starting this after it is over, we don"t know yet, the idea that he is like North Korea guy with a bigger army is just hysterical B.S, people need to get a grip on reality.

PrettyPickle · 07/04/2026 18:00

Well "Oh sh*t" the lunatic is in charge of the asylum!

Trump’s “a whole civilisation will die tonight” line is certainly… theatrical. But before anyone starts digging a bunker, it’s worth remembering that the US military doesn’t take instructions from Truth Social.

Real orders have to be formal, verified, and legal. Senior officers swear an oath to the Constitution, not to whoever’s having a dramatic evening online. Nuclear systems have layers of safeguards specifically to stop impulsive decisions.
So while the rhetoric is alarming, the actual risk of someone pressing a button because of a social‑media post is vanishingly small.

But if he does try to go down that route, hopefully it will be the catalyst the US people need to get him out.

And lets be honest, the rhetoric is worrying, but the guardrails are real. The situation is serious, but not the “civilisation-ending” scenario some headlines imply. Its how Trump works, he likes to set the cat amongst the pigeons.

Well at least that is what I am hoping!!!

socks1107 · 07/04/2026 18:03

Why is our ‘king’ as head of state visiting this man? He is dangerous and although we are told not to take it literally as president I would have assumed he was intelligent enough not to write these things on social media. The whole situation is awful

Yes, and as I tried to explain to another poster this will result in Iran hitting infrastructure all over the region leading to a massive global inflation spike. The strikes are happening now, they have also been targeting Kharg Island today and last night which takes things up a few levels as it impacts China if they destroy oil refining capacity.

Yup - Iran will reciprocate for sure.

Just read on Al Jazeera that Iranian state-linked media is reporting on a statement from the IRGC in which it said that it will not hesitate to respond in kind if the US attacks civilian infrastructure.

And they have threatened to respond outside the region.

As Trump's deadline for Iran to open Hormuz nears, Tehran says will respond in kind to attacks on civilian facilities.

Do you believe it? Do you honestly believe that ordinary Iranians want their country bombed to oblivion? I’m shocked anyone believes this stuff tbh.

I personally don't belive anything. It's all so skewed. Why would they want to be without water or power? Why believe they need saving by the big white orange man? see how well the worked for the women of Afghanistan. Cut the serpent head off, run out of money and steam and watch three heads grow in it's place.

It's interesting talking to my very politically aware young adult son. Things are starting to self forfil in his generation.

It's purely about money and greed. This isn't happening to save the people of Iran. He has said as much. It's for oil. Money. Greed.

It isn't unclear at all.

It is 8pm Iranian time which will be 1am British summer time.

but 8pm Iranian time is 6pm British summer time.

Maybe it is a little unclear?

southerngirl10 · 07/04/2026 18:11

Ironically, the nation that should be stripped of its power is threatening to wipe out another. The US should never be this big. We wouldn't have Trump then and the ones who have gone before and the ones who will follow.

sidebirds · 07/04/2026 18:13

President Trump is simply speaking in terms that this genocidal regime can understand 🙏

Dragonflytamer · 07/04/2026 18:13

The USA attacking civilian infrastructure really does put them on a level of Putin. Will the USA get kicked out of things like the Olympics like Russia? The world needs to make a stand.

Lilyspickled · 07/04/2026 18:13

The man is seriously cognatively impaired, either through a TIA or series of them, or suffering from dementia, One of the first signs of dementia that my late husband exhibited was the use of profanity laden language, unsteady gait, hunched over posture and an inability to stick to appoint he was trying to make. These areas are all being exhibited by DJT, he should be removed from office, by whatever means, before he can wreak havoc in the Middle East, well more than he already has

Much as Blair was a war criminal there was a coherent argument being made (albeit bullshit). And the USA weaponised post 9/11 sympathy

And Britons did protest vehemently. But at no point did Blair ever threaten genocide against an entire civilisation - nor was it even Britain’s war.

There is a reason why Bush secured the support of so many European nations in his war to increase terror but Trump is facing a complete refusal of support from European leaders even those who were fairly pro-Trump until fairly recently.

Shock and awe??

BerthaPotts · 07/04/2026 18:14

I think some posters are trying very hard to downplay how horrific and genocidal Trump's threats are, even if he doesnt go through with it.

This was worrying from Sky News

Brian Finucane, a former legal adviser at the State Department, says of Trump’s post: “This threat against a ‘whole civilization’ could plausibly be interpreted as a threat of genocide.
"Trump may hope this puts pressure on Tehran to reach a deal. But the risk of further US escalation against Iran is very real.”

BerthaPotts · 07/04/2026 18:15

Trump is speaking and behaving worse than Putin right now and that should be a concern for all of us.

How else could threatening to wipe an whole civilisation be interpreted?

Israel is already in there bombing away, Iran will wait for the "deadline" to pass then let rip on infrastructure targets.

Thats exactly my point. I can't understand the posters who are downplaying this threat as nothing to worry about at all.

Deadlykitten · 07/04/2026 18:19

he’s spiking the oil prices, he will say something on the opposite end tomorrow to drop them again. Follow the money.

Ageism is an easy shortcut in heated debates
When discussions get emotional or polarised, people seem to reach for quick, blunt attacks instead of nuanced arguments.
Age seems to become a visible, simple trait to target—even if it’s not actually relevant to the person’s policies or actions.
Prejudice comes from all different directions with mumsnet

Yawn.

I didn't say that so you're the clown.

The clown is Trump.

But the cap also kind of fits those who can’t or won’t see the logical consequences for innocent civilians of Trump “only” threatening to bomb infrastructure. Those consequences deserve a more considered response than “yawn” - at least to an old-fashioned bird like me, who appreciates the rule of law and abhors tyrannical nutters.

TryingNotToPanicAgain · 07/04/2026 18:26

I'm sick with worry at what this is doing to our futures. FUCKING TRUMP YOU HOMICIDAL, EGOTISTICAL, THICK AS MINCE, FUCKING BASTARD
